Don't mess with Mun young

The opening of the drama reminds me that of classic animation series. The cast for the drama is almost perfect.

Only now do I understand why Kim Soo Hyun is no. 1 on MDL.

Has the first episode of any Kdrama ever been so perfect? I’ll answer that - NO! I only do hope that the drama will dive head first into the darkness behind it. I want to see gore.

A community healthcare worker

This episode made me feel so proud of my work even when in reality its nothing to be proud of.As depicted in the drama, people who work in a mental health facility: 1. learns to run fast2. gets puked on a daily basis3. breathe, breathe, breathe4. gets a “getaway” every now and then5. always keeps a restraint “weapon” in the pocket.I love how they tried to portray what is it like to take care and work with people having mental disabilities. And yes, thats true to life.

Saiko jiman gwaenchanha

사이코지만 괜찮아
Saiko jiman gwaenchanha
Psycho But Okay -- I like the title better literal rather than stylized

I named a WoW toon 'Saiko' after the FL in 'Todome no Kiss'.
Not exactly but hitting me with similar vibe in this drama.

Not a particular fan of the overt fanservice, but, you have to admit, Kim Soo Hyun after military service, has still maintained the 6-pack rock solid abs. Almost look like an 8-pack instead.

Completely and utterly in love with art direction of this series it's like an epic & price-y blockbuster movie. Animation gives me the 'Nightmare Before Christmas' feelings. Adore it here as much as I did that movie.

The flashblack at the end, holy shit, makes me want a drama just based on that alone. Victorian era, Gothic, is just made for a story like this!! Think it's why I loved the band All About Eve when I hit college. This is an era that's so fit to telling hauntingly scary or moody stories. It's not something I enjoy everyday, and my personality is not like Moon Young, but every once in a while it's great. Like watching Sleepy Hollow; Dorian Gray; Sweeney Todd; The Illusionist; The Phantom of the Opera; Bram Stoker's Dracula; or The Others.

Anyway, I love the visuals so much, and I'm not even talking about the gorgeous OTP at all even. It's just really pretty over all considering the topics being conveyed here. Somehow, I think that's what makes it work for me in just 1 episode. Mixing pretty with ugly and messy makes it more appetizing for the *normal* viewer. lol

Then the actual ending. I'm going to be 100% honest, after Kim Soo Hyun delivered his lines, I legit said out loud to no one, "...Wow! Holy shit! Hahaha... Don't do that to me. I felt that...hahaha..."

Let's admit that the chemistry was there from the 1st second these 2 interacted. How in the hell did they manage to turn it up a notch even after that, I don't know. But they did. So, I can walk away saying, it's not just "pretty" that's cutting it. THEY CAN ACT! Count me 100% impressed with the 1st episode.

Read after watching the episode (contains spoiler)

Great introduction to character and the illness. They show very nicely how anti-social personality disorder (ASPD) folks are very cold, distant, manipulative and don’t care much about feelings or emotions of people around them. They show very clearly how if they want something, they will want to get it. They also show very nicely how people with autism behave and how it is for the caretaker of someone who lives with mental illness. Little girl saying that her dad is just mentally ill and not to separate her from him. That was very mature. Personally, have seen that many times, kids empathize and understand easily than adults. Also, how Ko is so cold and distant and the way Gang tells his friend that it’s not her fault, she is born that way. I am like wow!! If everyone in the world had same compassion and understanding, then world would be such better place! With ASPD, it is hard for them to get attached to people and love someone. And she is been raised with a mother who keeps telling her she a monster and everyone will leave her. So, may be in her mind, she is the witch (that’s why the whole children book is witch theme and dark themed). I think she needs someone who can show her that no matter what, they won’t abandon her and love her and accept her for who she and “see her” and “hear her” and validate her, may be then it will be like therapy and she can get better!!

Sombrio, profundo e encantador

Os personagens fogem do esteriótipo de mocinho e mocinha e está óbvio que assuntos mais sérios serão tratados, mas com a ótica lúdica e metafórica que se mostra pelos contos infantis, tudo se torna extremante interessante e cativante.

Screams a masterpiece!!!

ouh my God. where do i even start?!1. the way they begun the drama with a beautiful fairytale animation, wow that's gorgeous. exactly the kind of back editing that i expected from TKEM but we didn't get.2. Seo Ye Ji fits the damn role perfectly!!! i think it's also the charm of her deep husky voice so this kind of alluring and mysterious character naturally suits her a lot!3. Kim Soo Hyun's character. when the female patient hugged him and threw up on his clothes and then slapped him for smiling LOL that scene was so funny. i wonder if that supporting actress saved a life in the past to be able to hug KSH like that lmao she's so lucky. also the fckin abs!!!! i literally choked-this is my first KSH drama and i can't help but admire at his beauty. HE'S WAY TOO GORGEOUS!!!!!!5. KSH's special brother. the scene when they walked down the incline with their back facing the sunset, that scene was gorgeous AF. i can see and appreciate multiple scenes where the camera director shows off his skills brilliantly. i expect nothing less than spectacular cinematography from tvN lol.i actually really enjoyed Hotel del Luna but i admit that some reviews that pointed to its flaws are reasonable critiques. just from this episode alone i can already see that this drama is a massive upgrade from what HDL was and more. the marriage of themes for this drama only screams sheer brilliance on the part of the writer.i can't wait to watch further into the story.

Intriguingly Dark

Hooked from episode one. It gave me Tim Burton vibes. How unique was the claymation prologue. I am still in awe of it. The cinematography and scene transitions are out of this world. The visuals slays. I cannot wait to see what else is coming! This is a phenomenal way to start a drama!

Great Start!

Just found out how to rate episodes so I'm gonna start. Haha.Kim Soo Hyun is my ultimate favorite actor ever since Moon Embracing the Sun. I watched Dream High and I loved it but it was that drama that cemented his spot in my heart. It's been five years since his last drama and I wasn't really expecting anything about this. To be honest, it didn't seem like my kind of drama when I saw the trailer but I still watched it for him. I was really, really happy that I loved the first episode. It wasn't like the usual kdramas I watched but it was a welcome change. The show was unique and refreshing and I hope it will retain its great quality until the end.

Incredible start

This episode made me really look forward to the rest of the series. Love the premise of the series, it’s something I, personally, haven’t seen before. I also enjoyed the camera work. The actors are doing a spectacular job and I love how the main leads look together, really visually pleasing in my opinion. Love the soundtrack as well. So far, I’m really enjoying what this show has to offer and I’m looking forward to seeing what it has in store. I can’t really point out anything that I didn’t like, which is amazing.

What is there not to like when the main characters could hold long conversations with their eyes. Children books can be so deep.

The Boy Who Fed On Nightmares

1ST EP: This drama is what I’ve been waiting for in 2020; it does not hesitate to impress. Having only watched the first episode, I noticed the skillful cinematic elements and the hooking plot. I felt myself wanting more and my mind was spinning with different theories of what is to come. The overall aesthetic of the drama is rather dark and creepy, but not in a negative way. In my opinion, the drama’s look is a mix between “Corpse Bride” and “Hotel del Luna.” The stellar cast speaks for itself; the actors and actresses pull you into their world and keep you on the edge of your seat (or in my case, my bed). Even the child actress was better than I expected! Lastly, when the drama gets emotional, it’s not awkward or cheesy. It’s realistic and connects the characters to the audience. All around, I am very excited for this drama!

Impressed with the production

There were so many things going on in the 1st episode that it seemed like at least 3 but not in a bad way. The plot moved quickly and smoothly. Casting was on point and you can really feel the skill in acting both main characters have, they also suit the image very well. I most most impressed by production. They had stop motion, animation, etc. I really loved the feel of this drama and it really felt like reading a story book.Excited to see where this goes, hopefully I still feel the same at episode 16 but I’m very impressed so far and I did not expect to be.

Very strong start

Trigger Warning - Some scenes depicting abuse, blood and depictions of mental health issues might be disturbing to some people. This is a very strong start to the drama. The story is beautifully presented, with some amazing camerawork, extremely pleasing aesthetics and an equally complementing soundtrack. The opening sequence, along with a claymation prologue which is very reminiscent of dark stop-motion works like Coraline and The Nightmare Before Christmas, sets the tone that the story won't be your average romance drama. The acting is superb for all the characters so far, and the chemistry between the leads is great as well. Seo Ye Ji looks phenomenal and fits her role perfectly. Overall, a perfect start.

The care and time put into the drama is evident

You can really tell that the team behind this drama really loved what they were creating and put a lot of care and effort into it.They could've played it easy and went for a simple storyboard story that would still be enjoyable but instead they took risks that took more time and effort. The artistic choices of the whole first episodes where beautiful. The unique camera angles and movements where a bold choice that I may not have liked personally still get my praise and applause for being creative in pushing outside the box.I really didnt know the direction the drama was going in wether it was realism or fantasy and I guess it's a bit of both but more realism which I'm happy about cause that's my cup-of-tea.Another thing i loved was the fact that her storys where included, the way they where told and the contents within them i thought it was really cool and again so unique and they definitely deserve praise for all their artistry and time commitment as I'm sure no one would be angry if they hadnt done this as that would follow many dramas but they did and that shows how much effort they put into it.The only mild criticism I have is that the ending of the episode confused me as im hoping theres some plot twists but so much was told theough the flashback montage and the story from the beginning but I'm hoping this gets put to bed and that theres a lot more to the story than I am predicting even if there isnt I still think I'd be satisfied. Also sidenote im not sure how accurate this drama is (im guessing not much) but as I dont know I'm not going to talk about that but just remember dramas arnt the sole place to go for factual information about mental health and such as they tend to be dramatised (like anything they will be exceptions)Also sidenote thank you so much for that unnessacaraly nessacary ab scene it really made my day lol

Great Intro!

First of all, the animation is AMAZING! the whole fantasy element is incredible, I really do understand what they meant when they said it’s like a storybook. The acting and VISUALS were extraordinary, but that was expected. The chemistry was hinted but also really great. The story is interesting so far, it actually made me cry especially with the way Kangtae was so self sacrificing towards his brother. Moonyoung character is amazing so far, her story especially with the witch really touched my heart (and Kangtae’s as well). The only thing I disliked was probably the whole “we met when we were children” trope reappearing because it’s overdone and tired but I’m willing to overlook it for the other strong aspects.

Five Stars

Ok. I was hoping and praying that this drama would be it. Because I just haven't been digging k dramas recently and I was craving for something really good and this drama seemed promising. Kim Soo Hyun, Seo Ye Ji, the tone, summary. It all seemed perfect. So I was waiting for this and anxious that it wasn't going to meet my expectations. But the first episode goes by and I'm just giddy from the first second when the stop motion starts. I wasn't disappointed at all and thats what I call a good first episode. I absolutely won't be able to wait for the next episodes patiently.

The introduction is so cute! I'm always…

The introduction is so cute! I'm always drawn to misunderstood characters so I fell in love with Ko Moon Young right off the bat. I'm amazed how they were able to pull off a dark romance but still with a sprinkle of humor. The first episode showed many stories and I'm excited to know what's gonna happen next. Plus, the OSTs are killing it. I just hope this goes til the end.
