I thought the drama started out really really well. It was interesting to see the rebellious stepsister vs. the perfect, innocent sister.

But after they fast forwarded like 8 years, the drama became painfully slow. The plot was slow and all the actors did was cry. I literally had to push myself to finish watching to the last episode because I personally don't like to drop anything I've started watching.

The cast was okay. I think Moon Geun Young did an amazing job playing a cold-hearted person born from all the hardships she had to endure. I think in general, she is a good actress, I've watched her in one other drama. The OST for this drama is actually really nice.

Overall, I didn't like this drama. It was just too boring and slow for me. I wouldn't recommend anyone to watch it.

Nothing is new about the plot. I would gasp at the screen or cry my heart out but I wouldn't be surprised. And strangely that didn't push me away -I who lives for surprises-. The story might sound typical; or it is typical, but the journey of those people trying to heal the open wounds is something everyone of us can relate to. You can hate none of the characters even if you can't bring yourself to justify their actions. Each of the characters presents a part in us; whether we admit it or not. The characters are so human we can simply sympathise with how weak they and we are.

Watching them changing each other unintentionally, watching sincerity going through and watching the wounds getting healed even if they leave a scar was like watching my life in a flashback. The only difference is that my wounds are still unhealed.

The drama evolves around family relationships and society's views on them. It tackles the struggle single mothers go through in order not to abandon their kids. For society they're damned anyway. Whether the mother has the child or abandons it; she'll be cursed. The whole world gives its back to those poor women.

The drama as well questions the family. What makes a group of people a family? Is being born of the same parents the only way to become family? If you find yourself suddenly a family of someone, how would you react? How much would you sacrifice for your family? How much would you forget and how much would you forget?

I think this is a def an underrated drama. One thing to note is that the title and description made it sound like a simple romantic drama, but it's much more than that. It's pretty dark, with (to me) very little humor. A better description is that it tells with story of Cinderella, from multiple viewpoints and the journey of each character from this common fairytale.

What I Loved:
MGY is excellent as Eun Jo. I really liked how they dared to make a dark heroine, and they flipped the usual bright-and-cheery female lead and cold second female around. She really did a good job bringing Eun Jo to life and making her flawed but likeable.
Seo Woo was pretty good as Hyo Son too. I did fall for her cuteness, a bit, but I also got irritated wth her a bit too.
I liked the scenary a lot too. I liked how in took place in sort of a rural-ish area (to me--I'm not from Korea, so I wouldn't know, but it had that small town feel to it).

Things that bothered me:
I loved the pretty footwear, but I hate how the girls were running around in them. It was just so distracting lol.
Taecyeon's Han Jun Woo was a bit under-utilized. I wish there were more scenes with him and Eun Jo, especially because he is the only one that gets Eun Jo to act a certain way.

To note:
The plot can be a bit slow, and the pacing a bit off at times, so if those are deal-breakers to you, be wary.

Overall:
Watch is you want a complex, unique female lead, character growth

This drama is hard to review because it started out amazing, but then crashed and burned later on.

Despite the flaws of the story, the acting was absolutely superb by all involved. They made you feel for the different characters. Moon Geun Young especially did an amazing job, and she is a very versatile actress. The father/step-father was one of my favorite parts of the drama as well. Taecyeon also did surprisingly well in his role, and I found myself rooting for Jung Woo instead of Ki Hoon.

The drama probably would have been better if there were fewer episodes. Toward the middle and end, the show really started to drag on, and unnecessary events always seemed to be happening, and many events seemed to repeat themselves. I actually had to stop watching for a while after the time skip because it was so hard for me to get back into the story.

I liked most of the music in the drama and I'd definitely say that it added to the feel.

There is probably no way I would watch the drama in full again, but I wouldn't mind watching parts of the beginning over, or parts with Jung Woo and Eun Jo.

Overall, the show started out great and promising, but the plot soon got tired and old, and though the acting was amazing, it wasn't quite enough to completely save the drama.

the Antagonist also has a tale to tell...

This is a drama which I watched at the beginning of my entrance in the Korean dramaland and I have re-watched it countless times since then. A unusual melodrama that gives us a ride through family bonds, life, love, values and so much more that gave me my favorite female lead of all times.

Eun Joo... a character that is unique in every way. Portrayed as an antagonist, she is strong, independent, cold, while secretly longing for warmth and love. Raised in a world of lies and being hurt so many times, she closed her heart at a very young age but gets the touch of warm affection from her new stepfather for the first time. This leads Eun Joo to depend on him little by little and becomes loyal to him out of gratitude. She tries her best to pay him back for his affection with all she can to the point that she hid her feelings and sacrificing her first love for Hyo Sun, her stepfather's daughter.

Every character of this story is at it's richest point with captivating plot and the best cast. I can't imagine any single change in this story and any imperfection on this drama makes the whole deal perfect. This is the only drama that never gets old to me.

Loved the drama, loved Eun Joo, still loving it...

Not Very Memorable

I watched Cinderella's Stepsister many years ago as I was into this melodramatic mood. The show's premise looked unique, telling the story from the stepsister's perspective. In the beginning, I found it interesting enough to continue watching but at some point the plot became so monotonous and repeated itself over and over again. The romance was nice when we got to see it but most times it was filled with misunderstandings. The "Cinderella" character was pretty useless most of the drama. All she did was cry and put her feelings off on other people. She didn't even act like an adult most times, which was super frustrating. Both Stepsister girl and the guy did a great job.

I would honestly recommend not watching if whiny people annoy you, I almost stopped watching this show because I could barely stomach the sister.

Cinderella’s Sister (2010) - I have seen this drama now that I am older compared to when it was released where I was still not into korean dramas. I was curious to see this drama since it was shown on our local television dubbed in our language, and sadly the timeslot for this drama is at night where I am already asleep. I felt weird watching this since it was produced a long time ago, and the pacing is quite different than what I used to, but the story is really great.

I like how the emotions flow between the characters. The actors are also really good in portraying their characters. The characters, though have flaws, I did not have that hatred towards them, even if they are the supposed antagonist, because their characters have a meaning.

It was a good watch. Definitely recommended.

Not Good Enough

The main problem of the Korean Drama " Cinderella's sister " is the characters. Most of them are annoying and the progress of the story finds them with close to zero character development.

One of the worst is the sister, the 'cinderella', who cries ALL THE TIME! At first, it's unnoticeable and blends in with the rest of the drama. However, especially after the second half, her crying increases and she gets worse and worse. Not to mention that she acts out of character in the final episodes when she discovers something that she didn't know about her family.

The male lead is also one for the books. He not only plays with the two sisters' feelings, acts selfishly and does the most unreasonable things, but also his reasons for doing what he does are not that great, in the end, and do not justify his actions. His romance, thus, with the leading lady was problematic and, most of the time, frustrating.

The rest of them are either annoying or just okay, except for the father, who was probably the only one who was likable. The sister and leading lady was, after her teenage years when she was simply impossible, pretty decent and she was one of the few who acted rationally at times.

As for the story, it's okay, melodramatic and depressing, but with a good family drama. Though, most of it was predictable. In addition, there were episodes that were boring and dragging.

Finally, the soundtrack was really good and the performances great, especially from the leading lady.

So, overall, three out of ten.

This is one of the dramas I "watched" via recaps, as I wanted to watch a drama but didn't have much extra time so that was the fastest way to see one. Overall the plot of this drama stared out strong, but the later episodes were lacking (I had attempted to watch this drama in the past, but I couldn't stand the mother and it was a bit confusing). I found this drama a bit frustrating, but it did start and end well which is often the case for dramas.

Acting was very, very good as the mother could easily get under my skin and the girls did well in their roles. If it wasn't for the good acting I don't think this drama would have faired as well in my book

Music again was fine, but I don't have too big of an opinion since I predominantly "watched" this via recaps. I don't think I'll watch this again, because there are more dramas I really want to watch that I haven't seen and I'd much rather rewatch a fav. drama instead of this one.

I did not enjoy this drama at all, and I don't even know why I watched it in the beginning. I did not like the actors, and I still don't, and this drama was sooo boring. I got so annoyed with the girl because she was just so annoying because she kept pushing the guy away. I wactched half way and then skipped through episodes in order to finish it. All I remember from this drama was that I was not even dying for the leads to get together and I didnt really like either of them.
