Not worth my time

I was excited for this drama since the first season came out, but after watching it felt like a waste of time. If you shipped JoJo and Sunoh you shouldn’t watch it...
The acting and cast was good, but the storyline was not like most people expected or wanted. Most people wanted JoJo to end up with Sunoh, so why in the world did they choose to do the exact opposite?
It honestly didn’t even feel like they continued from season 1, but made a new drama with the same people... I feel like I just wasted six hours of my life that I could spend to watch a different k-drama that didn’t disappoint me

Love is a choice, not just hormones

I know some people were disappointed in the endgame of this drama. Most of them wanted a Jojo x SunOh reconciliation. But from season 1, I've always felt that being with SunOh was toxic to Jojo and Hyeyeong or even her original boyfriend will be a better match for her.

This is not really a spoiler because it all happened in S1 but you may skip this paragraph because I'm about to rant. What people don't seem to realize was that in S1, SunOh only approached Jojo because he wants to show Hyeyeong that he can get the girl his best friend was crushing on. He's a childish man who had almost everything handed to him in a platter. His mom is an actress, his dad a politician, a supposedly 'perfect' family. His only complaint is his mother does not love him. He looked to Hyeyeong to fill his need for affection. He can never support Jojo emotionally because he's so damaged and wants to keep affirming people's love for him. He was at first jealous of Jojo because she took Hyeyeong's attention from him. He was just testing how much Hyeyeong was willing to give up for him. Then he started an almost stalker behavior. If it was an average looking man, what he did would be scary not sweet. And he kissed her knowing she has a boyfriend? This guy's moral compass was very wrong. To top it off, he somehow made her feel pitiful when he paid for her lunch money and he made her a target of hate but was not able to protect her from his 'fans'. And he was so obsessively clingy, first to Hyeyeong then to Jojo. Okay, maybe Jojo was wrong by installing the shield but what ticks me is that he didn't even support her anymore once she stopped ringing his love alarm, he just felt sorry for himself.

Some people can't seem to find a reason why SunOh and Jojo broke up but it's very simple. Being with SunOh in HS only made her feel small. His fans kept saying she should just die. She felt unworthy to be alive all over again. Yes, he kept ringing her alarm, a telltale sign he still loves/wants her, but he never ever became someone she really needed, someone she can rely on to stand by her no matter what, someone who really respects her and her boundaries. What's funny is that in HS, SunOh kept saying it's Jojo's choice who will be with her and she is not a thing but became angry when the choice wasn't him.

So I think you can guess that I never really rooted for SunOh despite liking their cutesy dates and fluffy kisses. I liked the boyfriend better because even after they broke up, he still cared about Jojo. Hyeyeong was the best match for Jojo because he was emotionally stable and he doesn't even have the 'perfect' life. He has a 'criminal's son' tag for goodness sakes. But he was just always there for her when she needed him. Even when Jojo disappeared from people who might love him, he still rang her alarm 10 times.

Unlike with SunOh, Hyeyeong and Jojo's love may not be instant attraction from both sides. But it is a love that's built on respect and support, a love you want to keep. I really like what Jojo said to SunOh when he found out about the shield "You made me install the shield but Hyeyeong made me want to remove it". It was Hyeyeong who made her feel worthy of being alive.

Some says that it was not fair that SunOh settled for Yukjoo, but for me she was exactly what he needed. Someone who will constantly give him affection.

I couldn't give a perfect rating because I didn't like the other characters. I really couldn't relate to Gulmi, her mom, Brian and DukGu. They felt like plot devices, their characters were not really fleshed out. If it was only about the love triangle arc, I would have rated this 10/10. The underlying theme is love is a choice, choose to live, choose to love.

Completely pointless season

I have hundreds of complaints about this season but I don't have the energy to go into detail about everything so I just want to say it was so pointless to make this season if all the 4 leads would end up with their original relationships. Jojo and Hyeyeong had no romantic chemistry whatsoever, she always looked guilty around him and like she was with him just because he liked her and she didn't want to be lonely, other than actually loving him. It made no sense that she didn't stop Sunoh from kissing her if apparently she rang HY's alarm multiple times before that. The whole shield and spear was so stupid, annoyingly pointless and made no sense at all. The closure they gave Sunoh was so dumb too but at least he ended up with someone who actually loves him dearly and made him smile and try to become a better person. But still, he smiled only like 3 or 4 times through the whole show... Everything was so ridiculous, this season was literally unnecessary. The only storyline that actually mattered and was more interesting than whatever went on with the leads was Gulmi, I'm only not giving it 1 star because of her, but even her character can only make it go up as 2 stars.

Sorry but it was the ending for me

This season really didn't make any sense to me. It felt like it was a totally different storyline, the things Jojo did and said, like girl that wasn't what you showed in the first season. For the fans that have been waiting two years for this to came out it really was a slap in the face. But the rest of the storyline was really good, some roles where more explored in a fun way. Basically in my opinion this was a nice try to end it good, but it's not it. Also if you liked the OST in the first season, you will be disappointed with this one

It is not what you were waiting for.

Um well, I don’t have many good things to say about this show, I wasn’t really mad about who Jojo picked, I was more pissed about how they showed it. I was going into season 2 expecting a lot obviously because season 1 was great. But then when the trailer came out it felt different. I don’t know the vibe and how the characters were portrayed also the plot none of it felt proper. It was 6 episodes I don’t think that was enough for this show or even the plot. I hate how Jojo never had to explain one thing to anyone, she would just walk around and hurt both of them. In the end, Hye-Yeong getting her was obvious but why did she pick him. The plot, in general, was missing something and in the end, Sun-oh’s character was completely told off basically he had no part in it in the end. There was no development to him or to any of them in general. In the end, Jojo played them both and sometimes it felt that she was just going with Hye-Yeong because she felt bad. I wished the writers would have put a little bit more effort into why, WHY SHE WAS DOING EVERYTHING. AND THEN SUN-OH they tried to give him this PITY HAPPY ENDING, but in the end, his feelings weren’t resolved. I feel like I wasted 2 years waiting for this show and I only got Jojo explaining nothing to Sun-oh. AND THEN THE PLOT WITH THE MURDERER HUH WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT, IT WAS 6 EPISODES AND SOME OF IR JUST FELT USELESS. I am going, to be honest, and say that I just watched this for Sun-oh and every time this poor boy was hurt. I fucking cried with him, this show did nothing for him. I don’t recommend it if you are expecting it to be like season 1. I will give credit to the scene of this show the OST wasn’t the best but the scenes and camera angles made up for it yk.

DISSAPOINTMENT

Hiii, I have never really written reviews but after watching Love Alarm S2 I really feel the need to.
For the acting the potrayal of emotions were top-notch, but the storyline really made me feel uneasy.
It is not about the fact that she ended up with Hye-yeong, but the fact that she DID NOT EVEN HAVE GENUINE FEELINGS FOR HIM FOR ALMOST THE WHOLE SHOW.
When I watched S1, tbh I was still not very happy with Jojo's character, but I still did connect with her at some point, but S2 was just not it, it was almost like playing with two guys. If she loved Sun-Oh she should have been with him or not anyone else, staying with Hye-Yeong just made it worse.
It was very cowardly of her to run away from the one she loves not once but TWICE.
They really need to do Sun-Oh some REAL justice as he was a genuine guy who knew who wanted and loved Jojo without any conditions and not toxic or rude.
We all knew that the one he really loved was Jojo, they might have showed that he ended up with his ex, but its not that easy to suddenly get over someone you really love.
But the show did show each of their happy endings, but its just me who is not satisfied with it.
No hate towards the cast, they did a terrific job!!

Honestly would have gotten a 0 if it weren't for this.

I am not surprised at how this turned out. I actually marked it in my "Not Interested" list because I didn't enjoy the first season at all but then got pressured to watch it anyways.

Firstly, the story was very questionable. It feels the screenwriters decided to pave the way for a new story without more character development. I get that season 1 had most of the character development, but if you want to re-use the character development from season 1, you have to stay consistent with your plot in season 2. At this point, it just felt like they were trying to appease the general public with the way they set season 2 because we all know who Jojo really liked. If you didn't watch season 1, you would know that the public was rooting for HyeYoung (me included). However the thing that comes with second leads is that they are sometimes better off without winning the girl's heart (e.g. My First First Love 1 and 2 being the exact epitome of this series). If they stuck with Sun-Oh, then this drama might have had more popularity. Now, public opinion is basically this: "You can't just change the first season's male lead into the second lead in the second season." Also, one thing thing that was probably the film maker's worst fail was spacing season 1 and season 2 too far apart. It may be just because of COVID delays, but by the time I watched season 2 (which I binged on March 14 2021) I already forgot all of the character's names and who they were except Guk Do and Gul Mi.

As for the cast and characters, it wasn't half-bad. Let's just say I was very confused at Kim So Hyun's acting. I couldn't get the emotions she was trying to convey. It might be because I had the first season imprinted into my brain, though. Song Kang's acting was actually quite good this time. I could feel the emotion behind his character, though I still think SunOh the character was too crazy and abusive with the Jojo situation. As for the whole "Brian Chun" situation, I just felt like that was uncessecaryy. **As what my title probably click-baited you to read, the only thing that saved this was Sun-Oh and Yuk Joo's relationship. I fell WAY too hard for Yuk-joo. She was just such a pure and innocent soul. She's the only character that made my heart act up.

Overall, I would NOT RECCOMEND.

In need of Season 3

I can't help but write a review for this.
Waited for almost a year and this is the ending I received?

Firstly, I expected that Season 1's ending will link to Season 2's starting, from the presentation part. Unfortunately, no one knows what happened after that scene. Season 2 jumped straight to Jojo and Hyeyoung being together? I am so confused.... I was really still hoping that there will be a chance for Sunoh and Jojo to get back together :(

I feel that Jojo is really selfish in her decisions. Getting together with Hyeyoung (Sunoh's used to be best friend) when Sunoh was still upset over the fact that Jojo did not ring his alarm in Season 1. The fact that she used a shield to hide her feelings. If the shield did not exist, they will probably still be in love. Sunoh still rings her alarm... and if Hyeyoung did not persist to chase after her, Jojo will probably still ring Sunoh's alarm. Sun oh really loves Jojo though...... :( Did Jojo choose Hyeyoung because Yuk-Jo was with Sun oh?

Yuk-Jo...she is just too in love with Sun oh that she doesn't even care whether if Sunoh likes him back. and the drama ended with Sun oh wanting Yuk-Jo back? I think Sunoh is just too comfortable with Yukjo...poor girl, she should find someone better.

Hyeyoung should find someone better too...

Overall, I am so disappointed with this ending. I will still prefer Season 1 over 2 of course.... Can we have a Season 3 where Jojo broke up with Hyeyoung because she finally knows her real feelings (using Duk gu's in-progress application of the lie detector) towards Sun oh? :) Since Jojo installed the Shield to hide her real feelings towards Sun oh and she installed another to ring Hyeyoung's alarm on her own assumed feelings towards him. So probably Season 3 with an ending of Jojo and Sunoh, finally being able to get together? :DDDD or else, I am just gonna imagine it myself...

Regret of watching S2

Seriously, it's a rare when I was writing is review... I haven't watch the trailer and just watched the whole of season 2. I thought Jojo would ended up with Sun Oh because the chemistry was no joke, better than when she was with hye yeoung... JJ and SO looked natural together but when with HY, felt like being forced, it lack of chemistry. The story should not ended up like this. Duk Gu character development is somehow quite lack of something but Gul Mi is worthy to watch in this season but she can be develop more actually..

For those who are fan of Jojo and Sun Oh, better drop this season and just imagine the best ending of your own with Jojo and Sun Oh happily find their love back.

Thoughtless

This is by far the worst Korean drama I've ever watched. What were they doing like i mean i was struggling to complete an episode. I was so appalled by that JJ character s1 was okay but s2 gosh i wish i had not watched. Ive wasted my precious time to watch this worst drama .They were throwing stuffs here and there Kim JoJo is by far the worst and hye yeong being so pathetic. Sun oh was just shedding tears always for a girl that left him for no apparent reason and was okay with ''bye'' and decides to try and move on. Wft everything was rushed and ending was also rushed jezzzzzzz i think I'll get sleepless nights for watching this nightmare of a drama.......

I'll not recommend for any Korean drama lover

It was just frustrating

This was an utter disappointed from beginning to end. We have waited for two years to receive a second season and this is what they came up with?

The story could have gone into such a nice direction since I believe the idea of "love alarm" was original and had potential. However, they did not make use of it enough, in my opinion. They could have driven the story further by removing the shield from KJJ and her having to face her feelings. The main plot they had was, like in every drama, no communication. If everybody would have just talked to each other, all issues would have been resolved. Even in the end it was disappointing that she never explained HSO why she installed the shield and why she broke up with him. We only get an "I'm sorry" and that is it. We get no closure because a lot of things are left unsaid. Not to forget that the story takes place over a couple of years and not a single character has changed. They all remain the same and stick to not talking it out with each other. That was very frustrating.

As already mentioned, I fairly enjoyed the first season and that is why I was excited to see the second one. Already at the beginning I was confused since we never really get to see the outcome of the ending of the first season. Additionally, I do not know why they focused on KJJ and HSO so much in the first season, only to let her be with LHY in the end. Personally, I did not really feel the chemistry between KJJ and LHY at all. The scenes of them together in the second season did not feel genuine and I only waited for things to go wrong. I would have wanted more interaction between KJJ and HSO but HSO was basically irrelevant in the second season. The only thing that he did was harass KJJ, scream at her and stalk her. (I still do not know why people romanticise these things...)

Other storylines were completely useless since it did not do anything for the plot. The story of HSO's family did not really change HSO or his actions. Further, the story of PGM and CDG was disappointing. All in all, I did not enjoy the side stories.

In conclusion, I think the second season had a great base with the first 8 episodes but they did not realise its full potential. It is a long, slow-pace story which only frustrates you. I do not know if they had issues with filming because of the pandemic or something else but the second season seemed rushed and not thought-through.

Lastly, some scenes were filmed in a weird way. I do not know why some scenes were filmed in that particular way. For example, when HSO talks to YJ after he drives her home we never see their faces. It was supposed to be an emotional scene but it was only filmed from afar. (?) Also sometimes half the screen was covered with furniture or a wall but then did not have a nice transition to the next scene. (?) I think one time they tried to immitate a famous scene when they used a mirror to film LHY but I believe that was the only thing they focused on regarding filming.

In my opinion, just watch the first season and leave this one out. It is better to have an open ending in season 1 than going through the painful process of watching season 2 and being frustrated in the end.
