This drama took over my life for a while. Kim Tae Hee is an absolute blast in this drama and the main pairing (which isn't too evident in the beginning) is absolutely adorable. Kim Tae Hee's character is one you're always rooting for and although this drama does lack a "captivating" story line, it's a lovable story line that always leaves you wanting more. The thing I love about this drama and the person who wrote it is he doesn't focus on those stereo typical tragic story lines but instead shows us a character who is finding herself, becoming stronger & moving toward her goal. It's very funny and pretty 'turned up' on the romance, but a fun watch nonetheless.

The story is almost similar to a number of commoners turned rich or princess dramas.

Lee Seol is the long lost princess whose royal privileges are in the midst of restoration. Being an orphan throughout her childhood, she is supposed to learn the ropes of becoming the princess of Korea.

But instead in this drama, I would say, she spent too much time dealing about her love relationship with Diplomat Park and dwelling about her childhood memories about her father. And only having that to focus on, she lost sight of the people who are out to overthrow her.

To me, this show has an expected storyline of cinderella-like dramas. Not my cup of tea. Sorry...

I really enjoyed the beginning of this drama, but about halfway through, it's already pretty obvious where it's going (granted, a fault of most romantic dramas), but the main girl never seemed to learn anything, the same plot devides were reused over and over again, and that horrible woman with the horrible haircut was just so completely heinous I couldn't even bear to watch when she was in the scene. I made it through, but just barely. Fortunately, both the main leads were pretty to look at.

Oh. My. God. I don't think I have ever seen a more frustrating and annoying drama! I was expecting a light, fun drama but this turned out to be so exasperating that at times I was emotionally drained watching this. I had to take a break to calm myself down. I have never shouted at my computer screen but I did while watching this drama. I don't know why I got so invested but just thinking about this drama is making me angry again!

Story: I did not understand the political stuff AT ALL. I know that may be my fault since I'm not into politics and stuff but a drama like this shouldn't have complicated politics. I didn't understand the history either. I didn't get most of the reasons for the characters' actions. The second female lead arc was so annoying! Why couldn't anyone see the evil stuff she was doing? Why was she doing all that evil stuff? I'm guessing it's because she was crazy. But why did she get a happy ending then? Evil people already get happy endings in real life, I don't want that in dramas as well!

Honestly though, this drama started out really well. It seemed light and funny. The female lead was refreshing and bubbly and for a change the male lead was nice to her. I had high hopes for this drama. I don't know why they had to add such annoying politics and evil schemes.

Actors/Characters: I liked Lee Seol in the beginning. She was funny and wasn't afraid to say what was on her mind. After the introduction of bitch Oh Yoon Joo, I was hoping Lee Seol would be confident and fight against her. At least say something to her face and show her who's boss. But no. Lee Seol had to be this stupid girl who falls for Yoon Joo's tricks every time and never stands up for herself! Yes, I know. She eventually did fire her and all. But by that time I was way too tired. She should have done something earlier. Kim Tae Hee's acting wasn't bad though. And I did enjoy a couple of scenes. I'm blaming the writer/director.

Park Hae Young was okay. To be honest, I don't remember him much. I did like how he was nice and not a mean, rude jerk. He was very different from the conventional male leads. But he wasn't very memorable. I'm racking my brain here trying to remember something about him but all I can think is how annoying it was that whenever Lee Seol did something stupid he cleaned up the mess. I would've liked it if Lee Seol wasn't this stupid. And that she would clean up her own messes. Other then that I don't remember Hae Young much. Song Seung Hoon was good. I don't remember having any problem with his acting.

Oh my God I don't think I have ever hated a character more than I hated Oh Yoon Joo! She was so evil! And crazy! Very crazy! I wanted to slap her so hard! I was hoping one of the characters would do it. But no. Not only does she not get a slap but she also gets her happy ending! I mean, come on! I didn't hate her this much for her to be left like this! She was a selfish, crazy bitch who had no justification for her actions. I didn't have any sympathy for her even when that was the card the writer was playing. I'm not sure what to say about Park Ye Jin. If she made me hate the villain so much then she must have done a good job, right? But the most annoying thing about her was the robotic straight face she always had. It was like she didn't have any emotions. I think that is why I wasn't able to sympathize with her.

Nam Jung Woo was probably my favorite character. He was the only person smart enough to see through Yoon Joo. He also countered her tactics. He was nice and considerate without going overboard. He was the only person who seemed human. And the only person I was rooting for. Why, oh why did he choose Yoon Joo?!!! He deserved someone nice, not a selfish bitch like her! I think Ryu Soo Young did a pretty good job.

Out of the side characters I simply adored Lee Gun (the chef) and Court Lady Shin! They were adorable and funny and awesome! I hated Lee Dan (Lee Seol's sister)! But what I don't get is if she is punished for all her doings, why wasn't Yoon Joo too? (No, I am never letting this go!) Lee Dan wasn't nearly as bad as her! And her actions were understandable as well! I don't remember any of the other characters. The grandpa seemed sort of crazy.

Overall: This drama just wasn't for me. I know a lot of people loved this drama but it had too much of an "Indian drama" feel to it and I really don't like Indian dramas. Oh well, maybe you'll have better luck with it.

I've been wanting to watch this show for a long time, but just have never felt an urgency to watch until a friend recommended it as a binge-able romcom to fill some time. The story started out very well, but became much too political and draggy from the middle onwards. I ended up fast forwarding some of those scenes in the last few episodes just to get back to the romance part.

This was my first encounter with Kim Tae Hee, who made the drama. While there were too many scenes of her crying, she also had a very infectious laugh and I enjoyed her happy bubbly personality the most. Song Seung Heon was quite adorable and seemed like he had the ability to really have a sizzling chemistry with KTH. However, I feel like the writers underutilized the romantic potential for this pair. I loved the bickering and banter between them, but longed to see more "skinship" because it was really lacking. We got far too few kissing scenes, and far too little romantic scenes in general.
I pretty much despised Yoon Joo from the moment I laid eyes on her, and that didn't change - but, as the villainess of the show, she succeeded!
I didn't have any issues with the acting from anyone, but other than the leads, the 'court lady' helper and the young chef were the standout side characters for me. They were both very cute!

Story-wise, I felt by episode 4 that the main leads were just running around from one scene to the next, and Lee Seol did a LOT of crying. (She cries very prettily, but still...) I watched this in 2018 and it's a drama from 7 years ago, which I feel shows because it has a decidedly "classic" K-drama feel to it. There's nothing wrong with that, but if you are late to this party, it does feel a bit noticeable compared to newer dramas. The romance seems to be dialed way back, and every time the characters get close to having a moment, something causes them to be interrupted and the action moves to something else. They left the conflict resolution between the main leads until the last couple of minutes of the show, choosing instead to focus the majority of the last episode on resolutions that I cared little about.

The music was nothing interesting, just general instrumental - I don't even recall hearing a 'theme song' or song with lyrics. I feel like I did recognize the classic American song "Sleepwalk" during a romantic scene (it has no lyrics), but I've always associated that song with sad scenes for some reason.

I don't see me re-watching this show, but I'm happy to check it off my list of classic shows.
It was worth it just to see Kim Tae Hee and Song Seung Heon.

I was really excited about this drama because I thought it would have the same entertainment quality as Goong. Boy was I wrong. The plot was pretty typical, which I knew going into it, but I thought it may have some sort of twists and turns, which, as I went through the episodes, I could not seem to find. The acting was alright, a bid overdone, but the leads were too cute, so I stuck with it.
The filming, and stylistic elements, like the set design and costumes (which I LOVED) saved the drama. Otherwise, the acting, plot and overall execution wasn’t that great. It isn’t really clear why the two leads fall in love with each other, and it kind of just happens. The typical bad guy figure was just annoying, and her insistence on making things difficult for the leads didn’t really make sense, especially because she never would have gained anything from it.
It was just a strange drama....That’s all I can really say...

I could not get into this at all. I found it so boring that i thought I was going to fall asleep zzzzzz I seen mvs of it and it looked quite gd but watching it well it was very disappointing. There nothing to captivate you from the start, the acting was so so and the music was just out of place. I am very very disappointed

My thoughts for this drama are scattered all over the place. There were things about it that I really liked and much that I did not. I knew this drama wouldn't be ground breaking plot-wise from the summary, but I just wanted to watch something safe where I would get closure at least since the last two dramas I watched (Marry Him If You Dare and Skip Beat) did not have that. The story indeed was typical for a Korean drama (a rags to riches girl who falls in love and a hidden secret from the past may ruin things for her). Even though the comedic parts were laugh-out-loud/rewind funny, they were far and few in what seemed to be a long and never-ending drama despite only having 16 episodes. The good-looking actors definitely helped lessen the pain of watching some of the dragged out, or even unnecessary scenes that I had to sit through since I don't like having unfinished dramas. Indeed they were eye-pleasing. Song Seung Hun has many good angles to his face while having a nice build and deep voice to match. I'll be honest, when I started this drama I had to rewind some parts that I missed the subtitles to due to his mesmerizing looks. He was especially handsome when he got angry and shouted (but I soon got over this since he kept using this technique in his acting and it lost its effect). Also, he started to look like Felix the Cat to me; don't get me wrong, he's still beautiful. Kim Tae Hee, Rain's girlfriend (one of the reasons I wanted to watch this drama), is one of the prettier (not cute) leading ladies I've seen and could very well play the part of the other woman that often has a more cookie-cutter type of beauty. Ryu Soo Young, if you cover up his sunken cheeks, is actually one of these good-looking characters along with little Gi Kwang. It's no surprise that these characters then (with the excepting of Gi Kwang) could play what I perceived to be scheming, self-interested characters who were not really searching for love or a means to protect their families despite what they state in the drama. It reminded me of My Name Is Kim Sam Soon without the script and what I believe the Heirs will be like (beautiful, selfish people fighting over love and money) since I haven't seen it yet. After the drama got boring (by episode 2 to my surprise), it was this perception that helped to make the drama entertaining for me in parts that I found to have unintended cruel humor apart from the far and few intended jokes. The first episode actually had a good ending and made me believe that the main character really did care for her father to the point that I was almost in tears, Afterwards, however, she became the most selfish, whiny and spoiled character I've ever seen on a Kdrama (including side characters meant to play this part for a comedic effect). Her unintended apathy towards people in her desire to get revenge along with the random moments of pretend sympathy were more bone-chilling than even Yejin's A-list acting for a villain. Despite not being a fan of Yejin prior to watching her on this, I became a fan of hers and not only sympathized, but rooted for her little character living in an unjust society. (This is weird since I never saw her as cute even with her aegyo in Family Outing until I saw her character here which is supposed to be a villain but seems to be the most logical and caring person of the bunch even when others don't care for her). The selfishness of all four main characters was part of the reason I was unable to see the romance at all despite their cute individual expressions. This left me very confused at some parts as to what was happening in the relationships since many parts seemed to be random. The story got very entertaining again (actual and not in-my-head entertaining) around maybe episode 9-11ish then quickly died down again. Surprisingly the last episode, though not great, made me happy (this could also be due to how excited I was to finish this drama). I would not recommend this drama unless you are very creative and have a sarcastic/ cruel sense of humor. It might just be my taste but it was excruciating to the point that it was hard to even sit down long enough to finish this. The actors were in no way the problem and I would watch other dramas with them, especially Yejin, Seung Hun, Lee Seol's mother (who by the way was very cute in this drama and reminded me of my own mother), and of course, little Gi Kwang. I might watch Tae Hee's IRIS too since I like Baek Ji Young's OST to it.

Not only is the main actress gorgeous but she is also a great actress. To be honest I thought this was going to be the Korean version of princess diaries made into a series, but boy was I wrong. It wasn't that twisted but it had passion. And the kisses were not fake. The comedy and misunderstood situations. I loved when she mimicked historical dramas. I loved this drama. I didn't zone out not even once it was so interesting that I dint realise I was on the last episode till I realised that the story was now really calm, as in no more evil plots, blah n blah . I loved it. It was almost superb

Hands down this is by far the best drama I've seen so far. Kim Tae Hee was so adorable and Song Seung Hun was just the perfect match for her. I loved everything about this drama. There was never a time where I got bored and wanted to skip. There were multiple times where I had to watch a scene again, because it was just that good. It will definitely make you cry, but not because of sadness.

I'm writing this cause i just can't agree with the other reviews ...

STORY:
Ok i agree it's your avrage mushy gushy story about a girl finding out she's a princess. At first i also thought that but the way the writers dilevered the story was just wonderful not one minute was i bored ( and i'm the type of person that skips parts, episodes or sometimes just watch the previews if i'm to bored.

ACTING/CAST:
Well the acting was good for a comedy/romance cause most of the times when watching these kind of things i notice that some lead actresses tend to over act the funny and then it just becomes weird, but of course Kim Tae Hee never disappoints us she was so lovable:D and you could feel this kind of "bond" between the two lead characters. and since it was one of my first k-drama that i watched it was the first time i had seen a man cry for a woman because he loves her so much that he is suffocating (you practically never see this kind of scene in Hollywood). And the forbidden love plot was very nice every time they cried or were in pain i felt it too.

Music:
I thought the music was well fit for every scene and of course should good romantic/comedy drama doesn't play some good old Ricky Roller I was seriously laughing so hard when i first heard it in the drama it was awesome :D And we get to hear some B2st/Beast too :D

REWATCH VALUE:
HECK YEAH ! In fact when i'm finished here i'l got watch it again for like the 3th or 4th time ! (I'm not even kidding i'm doing it)

OVERALL:
Over all i think you go it i loved it and i strongly recomand it. Seriously ! Watch it:) but i do agree with some of the comments about the ending who was a bite disappointing. We were all expecting Big wedding bells, and all that goes with it but after some thinking it like this simple and yet touching ending (specially that kiss). In the end all I want to say is...
Wonderful story
Wonderful Actors and cast
Wonderful mus... well ... yeah the music was good;)
and WONDERFUL DRAMA

I can’t say I loved this drama because I didn’t. I can’t say it’s a good drama either. At the begining I really liked this. It was so funny! But it was only the first episodes. Then it became boring. The romance was slow but I must say that here they really seemed like they were a real couple! This time I liked the romance. They seemed real people with real feelings.

The story was a bit cliche… and there were some conspiracies but no big deal. I found it boring. Watchable but boring. I believe it would be better if it had half the episodes.
