Understanding the Depth of Who You Are

First let me start off with a few words regarding the cast:
#Oat Pasakorn Sanrattana; outstanding performance 10/10 star actor
Watching him from beginning to end brought me to see this young actor in whole different light.
#Boat Yongyut Termtuo; perfect casting for the ALPHA & leading the pack & his gentleness when it comes to Phatsa.

Let's see, where do I begin. I'm sure there are going to be plenty of critics out there that will not agree with my rating... nor what I'm going to say. I've read all the negative comments here on MDL & other places as well. It just help me understand that this story line was 1 of two things for those who watched it. #1 the depth of the story was to deep for them to connect with. #2 They were looking for something else, and decided not worth it, so just give a bad review or comment to deter others from watching. Whatever their case may be... I pray that neither Oat OR Boat come across such negativity... nor the staff that worked so hard bts.
Anyway... I digress

KNOT: I’m not sure if it’s because, in my 71 years of life, I’ve watched, listened, and tried to connect with the main character that’s meant to be the focus, but here I connected deeply with #Phatsa and the world he was thrown into (this was just the first episode). After #Phatsa was bitten, he went home, refusing to stay somewhere safe.
What he goes through in his own place… smh. I once commented about how I used to watch documentaries, and one on addiction showed how painful and anxious people get searching for their fix. Oat (who played Phatsa) was OUTSTANDING portraying that intense craving—wanting, needing, feeling helpless, and not understanding what was happening to him.

As the story progresses, Phatsa starts to learn about himself and who he truly is—or should we even label him #What he is? No, he’s simply Phatsa. He hears bits and pieces until his dear friend suggests he get tested to be certain. When the results come in, he doesn’t know what to feel. Who is he? Why didn’t he know? What are #Alpha, #Omega, and #Beta? Despite his friend’s warning, it’s already too late.

Thankfully, Phatsa had strong support to help him through this uneasy new part of his identity—especially Khamphirada Nakhun’s mother, who became a bridge to safety alongside Nakhun. The reason I didn’t give this a 10/10 is because the middle section with Phatsa’s father entering and the subplot with Sangnuea and his brother felt overly unnecessary and could have been toned down. I get the revenge angle, but by episode 9, some of the context was lost. Still, even though the drama stayed serious for most of its run, I loved that a touch of comedic cuteness slipped into the final episode, bringing welcome relief after all that tension.

Bottom line: In my personal old lady opinion (lol) This drama was about a young man (Phatsa) who took a forced journey to understand the *Depth of who he truly is. While each path he took, there was more for him to focus on when it came to his inner feelings. Especially feeling trapped or even being accepted for a person he himself is still learning about. Fear of the unknown can be overwhelming, when what you thought was normal was not... etc. Remember, every child when growing up ... start to find their own identity. Some or many become confused and rebellious. It's a time when that fear of the unknown becomes overwhelming & needing a strong connection to help them feel safe & secure with each unknown step they take. Phatsa found his footing at the end & his emotional and mental strength became calm. At the end of the day... Phatsa realized & accepted the person he was.

#OAT & #BOAT in my personal opinion... made this drama SHINE. They deserve more Main Leading Dramas

Boat and Oat are one of my favorite BL couples. Their NC scenes are tastefully and passionately done. Their micro expressions enhance their character development.

So far there have been several things that have hinted at a more complex underlying storyline. Already by episode 5 there have been two attempts on Nahkun's life. Their soulmate bond where they can feel each other's pain will probably become an asset as the story develops. I'm really looking forward to the child that they create that's definitely going to be an enigma. I've only actually watched one other omegaverse series (ABO Desire) which indicated enigmas have superior intelligence and strength. The pregnancy should be very interesting.

The third brother intrigues me. I'm looking forward to seeing his character develop. I saw indications in episode 2 that he is a rival of his 2 older brothers. However, later in his interactions with Phatsa he seems to be a younger misunderstood sibling. The seduction scene at the bar in episode 5 foreshadows more intimate interactions. Honestly, Phatsa's friend could make a rock horny! Since he doesn't have real feelings for him, is the intensity of his sexually inherently related to his impending heat cycle?

We're only on episode 5. So much more to look forward to!

A Massive Disappointment: Boat and Oat Deserved Better Than This AI-Level Script

Knot was easily one of my most anticipated Thai BL series of the year. The trailer looked incredibly promising, and the hype surrounding the first major Thai live-action Omegaverse series was huge. Unfortunately, the final result turned out to be a major disappointment.

The core issue of this series is the screenplay. The pacing was painfully slow, with several episodes where absolutely nothing happened. It feels terrible to say, but the writing was of such a low standard that it honestly felt like someone asked AI to write the screenplay. Many of the dialogues were completely disjointed and awkward, leading nowhere and leaving several glaring plot holes unanswered. It felt more like a rough draft that desperately needed a test audience to point out its flaws before production started. On top of that, some of the side characters were completely underdeveloped; the creators failed to give them coherent personalities or make them fit naturally into the narrative.

Maybe , the series also suffered from a noticeable lack of budget that ruined the immersion. One example: the plot heavily hyped up an important, high-status networking party meant for elite families. Yet, when the scene aired, the venue looked practically empty with maybe three extras standing around alongside the main family.

The only reason I managed to finish this show is due to the main leads, Boat Yongyut (Nakhun) and Oat Pasakorn (Phatsa). They did absolutely everything they could with the weak material they were given. Their acting was strong, and their chemistry saved the series from becoming an unwatchable disaster. As expected from this couple, the NC scenes were hot, well-acted, and actually meaningful to the story. Oat, in particular, possesses an incredible talent that is completely wasted on a script this weak.

Unfortunately, the finale left far too many questions unanswered. A perfect example of this was how they handled the pregnancy. Right from the trailer, it was obvious that Oat’s character would get pregnant. Leaving this reveal until the very last episode made it a painfully long wait for something that didn't offer any more shock value than what we already saw in the trailer. We didn't actually get to learn anything more about their story. A trailer is supposed to be a teaser for what's to come, but the series itself needs to deliver so much more. Otherwise, you might as well just watch the trailer and you’ve already seen the whole story—and that’s pretty much how this series felt.

Right now, the Thai BL industry is pumping out BL series at a rapid pace, but quantity has officially overtaken quality. There is far too much focus on nude scenes, ships, and forced fanservice, and way too little focus on solid storytelling, polished scripts, and believable character development. I truly hope Boat and Oat get a project worthy of their talents next time. For now, I’m also still waiting for someone to make a truly great, high-quality Omegaverse series.

Good and bad

For a thai drama being first in such a rare topic is for sure a risk. I'll list all the POSITIVE & NEGATIVE things i personally liked/disliked. Because i think this drama isn't as terrible as many people think. If you don't take this drama overall too serious - i think you can like it. ^^

+ ACTING from BoatOat. They truly have very good chemistry and portrayed their characters well! And of course the mom (Rul) I like strong women!
+ The OST is good & fitting the scenes. I really liked the instrumental/calm music for the more emotional scenes as well as the sensual beat songs for the NC scenes.
+ ABO-UNIVERSE REPRESENTATION. As someone who read much ABO fanfics. It was accurate and i like how the pheromone effects were visible, as well shown nesting and a strong Alpha taking care of his Omega and vice versa. Even MPREG mentioned & knotting happening. I liked the ending for the main couple.

NOW i come to the NEGATIVE things:
- PLOT: First 2 episodes throw you directly in the ABO universe which was good!... Until episode 5-6 it's difficult to follow the plot besides the growing relationship between Phatsa & Nakhun - they truly carry this show.
- CAMERA WORK: It was like a beginner filmed it. Mostly constant switching views. Barely any smooth movements. I'm no professional... but i've seen better camera work in other dramas.
- SUPPORT ROLES: truly supporters. I think everyone did their best for making up the bad plot writing.

Omegaverse cliché done wrong

Being ThaiBL's 1st omegaverse with AlphaOmega pair and it being from MFlow none of us expected much from it except for it to be a typical omegaverse. A typical omegaverse and we'd be satisfied but they failed to do that. The only reason this is getting a 7 is cz it's BoatOat and omegaverse. Anyone who wrote and directed this has 0 clue about omegaverse 🙄

The 1st 2 or 3 eps they spend it entirely on overexplaining the viewers who are literally omegaverse fans what omegaverse is😑 instead of giving us a brief idea in the 1st 5 mins of ep 1. For 3 episodes u have phatsa our clueless omega having classes on omegaverse. I get that his dad hid the fact that he was an alpha and his mom was an omega and he could have a secondary gender but I'm pretty sure in every omegaverse they have classes on omegaverse in school and their gender tested in middle school.

Then we have the pheromone issue where all 3 the alphas out of which 2 are dominant don't use their suppression pheromone when attacked 🙄 and we also had the crap where an alpha who is bonded can sleep with others😑. Uhh since when??? If so bonding wouldn't be a big deal for an alpha and nakhun wouldn't hv insisted on having phat with him and this story would have never happened. Frankly there was nothing interesting going on with the main couple their story fell flat. Worse we never got to see the baby although they did get pregnant. The only redemption is that the omega is not a damsel in distress

Now coming to the 2nd couple. I remember back then the pilot was released people were super excited about the alphabeta pair cz usually in omegaverse they're emotionally taxing. They did do a good job with showing how much of a green flag couple they are but i feel they could show a bit more abt their struggles instead of just saying things straight off. Same for the omegas, all their struggles are barely given time and just have a quick walk though instead. Again i didn't like their ending i mean they could have showed the family accepting them or atleast an engagement instead of conversation between napitch and ongsa alone

3rd couple probably the most dissapointing one cz it was supposed to be schemer and his lover kinda troupe where u fall for someone ur supposed to hurt.... or fall in love with someone who wants to hurt u.. but they ended it at napitch enslaving sangneua for life. They could have showed us their love life. Sangneua becoming friends with Phat and ongsa again and overcoming his trauma but none.

Overall the ending was kinda incomplete. I am guessing we might get special eps like my stubborn but gotta see

they could have kept this mess

started so strong before the roller coaster dropped us in hell. after a while, phatsa cluelessness and lack of agency was driving me crazy. so many pointless scenes of endless talking. what the hell was the point of that sideplot???? it took so much away from the main story that should have been dedicated to the main couple learning to love each other. then phatsa's deadbeat dad wanna show up and try and run things. and the nerve of phatsa being asked to have a baby to complete their nasty dad's dream??? and the acting???? nah...give me a break. this was TERRIBLE lmao.

One of the BLs I was looking forward to this year due to the Omegaverse concept in Thai BL, but disappointingly, it was a waste. The first two episodes were strong and intriguing. However, the plot and pacing felt so awkward and pale later on. Most of the scenes were really nothing but moments to prolong the episodes' duration. The restaurant had no customers except the Devathitirat family, apart from one or two frames. It was shocking to understand or even accept how Phatsa had no freaking idea about the ABO world while everyone else happened to. It made no sense how Phatsa's father suddenly showed up, and his story about leaving his own kid because of his wife's death was freaking absurd.

Apart from all this, I loved how the actors gave it their best despite this insane plot. Everyone did amazingly—Oat delivered an emotional vulnerability and flexibility that made his Omega role shine very well. Boat was groundedly pleasant too. But I wasn't interested in their pairing in this story; their horniness just wore off the chemistry for me.
More than anyone, I enjoyed Ongsa's presence. His and Nakhin's chemistry is just full of cutesy vibes. Nakhin is such a sweetheart. Now, I want to see more of ThemeThee in many series.

Sangnuea didn't interest me; his character gave me the ick from the very start. Yet, the Naphitch lore invested me. It was sad that Naphitch was betrayed; I would have loved a soft love story between them.

Maybe I was wrong, but I thought this series also had a GL pair that would end up together. Anyway, I was glad they didn't make another dominant/submissive dynamic in the yuri trope.

Although it was weird that the beautiful Khamphirada [Nakhun's mother] waited until the final episodes to express her feelings and support Naphitch as her own son. The divorce was out of nowhere, too. We could have had some scenes where we see her losing it with her husband's selfishness. Talking about Nakhun's father—it's funny how if he loved a Beta, why did he treat Naphitch so badly, yet obsess over the need for a pure Omega for the birth of an Enigma? Whatever. I guess, I just lost interest at one point due to the very awkward pacing of the series.

The main and perhaps the only thing I appreciated seeing in this series is how it highlights that regardless of whether one is an Alpha, Omega, or Beta—all are human beings and deserve love equally. I was happy to see Betas' existence in the ABO world, showcasing Beta/Omega and Alpha/Beta dynamics.

All a bit wooden!!

First episode was just blah, too many dramatic pauses when nothing dramatic happening. Pale faced and super shiny actors. Hairstyles are ridiculous and the baggy clothes looked stolen from thier dad's. Actually just use marionettes, they just as wooden so far and can get a lovely shine with an electic polisher. Story has more holes in it than a mess screen. Gay for pay is unconvincing, why not use gay actors? Seen better production on a primary school play! At least kids put some effort in.
I had high hopes for this drama but will see if it gets any better.
Thai drama has 2 sides now; sickly sweet ott childish garbage or soft porn with plots straight out of the 80's (soundtrack sounds like it too) next time will one be coming to fix his washing machine?
Please let Thai actors grow up and act in parts suitable for their age. (Don't get me started on the one hit wonders, BounPrem and BossNoeul pantomime shows. were they a joke? Or a bet?)
Actually I will give it a point for the pink milkshake reference.
Back I go to reading the books instead of having to watch this mess.

PLEASE GET BETTER, I WILL BEG!!!

-1 point for the nonsense script, that is suspected to be written with AI
-1 point for the bad OST and music
-1 point for the actors having to stomach through all this nonsense

-1 point for the silly makeup of the semi-permanent bite scar
-1 point for random children
-1 point for the worst NC scenes you will ever see on a BL
-1 point for the most funny mafia story ever, and for making me value all other BLs I have watched
OVERALL RATING: 11/10, with 0 stars being the best BL ever made

Jokes aside, I still can't fathom how much I was hyping this BL after the pilot was released. And then it ended being the worst series I've ever seen, and I am not picky at all about BL plots (my favorite BL is love in translation and the plot makes no sense). I was thinking about something positive to say because I don't want to be all negative, but as I couldn't find anything I made the rating the positive aspect of this review lol.

A valiant effort by cast and crew

Omegaverse is not a genre for the masses, having said that they have not tried to make it appealing for the masses either and have stayed true to the concept. In a lot of places they have tried to make the parallels to the real-world, class strata that exist in the society, but I guess it was too vague. The animal nature and human nature battling it out was showcased in many couples or individual scenarios, having said that it was unapologetically omegaverse, there is fate and then there is what you make of it that makes it an opportunity or failure.
I am not surprised that the series has a below 7 average rating since the episode 1 started straight with the heavy feelings of instinct and passion, it felt like a big knock on your senses. I am giving it a nine not because its near perfect but because it has tried its best to stay true to omegaverse
There are plot holes, there are issues with timing in story telling, but for a whole genre to be introduced and a plot to be developed and concluded it was a great effort by the director. The pacing was slow in multiple places but their long dialogues and communique was something that showcased how they overcame the hurdles of their relationship that started of being so extreme. Phatsa felt trapped with all his choices taken away one instant to growing to love and care for the same person who took it away from him needed the time and communication. Phi Nakhun an arrogant True Alpha who has never been in a relationship to putting Phatsa as his true love needed time and effort and a whole lot of learning…
Their acting has improved so much, they made the series for me. The series starts with their Pheromones /hormones leading them to progressively their heart leading them and that was clear in oat and boats intimacy.
NC scenes were tastefully done considering omega verse’s raw edge. It was longer than average series, but oat and boat did not make me cringe I could watch through it without fastforwarding. I really wished the series had dedicated sometime in explaining the omegaverse to the first time viewers who have never heard of it before. but then so does Phatsa ;).
This series would not have worked for me had it not been for oat and boats easy chemistry.
