As always, jdorama really can make you feel pain and want to cry with no effort at all.

The flow of the story is really good, it can compact the ML journey so that viewers can understand his POV. It also have good supporting characters and sympatize with their actions. Although, some miss here and there about their motives but not make you feel cringey and upset (imo).

Watch this if you want to understand about ALS and their struggle with this illness. Really interesting and enlighten me for the way you see life.

Rewatch value: almost none, because i don't wanna see some tragic drama more than once.

*RIP for the ML, really sad that i finally finished this series only after his death (T_T).

I really recommend this beautiful short-drama.

Powerful and emotional, but never overly sentimental, this is a great work. You get moved with the gracefulness of the main character and makes you wonder... how to survive daily in his shoes?...

You already know what is all about it before starting watching it so you know that it'll be sad as ALS is as disease growing in numbers of affected people yearly, but with the light script mixed with good acting you won't be crying your yes out at all!

Watching this drama can also help to understand and also support the worldwide research to find out how to fight against it so really deserve being watched.

Give it a shot it will surprises you!

An Indescribable Gem! A MUST- WATCH!

This drama has truly left me speechless which rarely happens. It is 1000.../10 for sure!!! I was not even going to give it a try and came across it completely by accident. However, I ended up rewatching countless scenes and will for sure rewatch this masterpiece again. Insanely flawless, heartfelt performance by Miura words can not begin to describe! and the entire cast was beyond this world <3 Thank you for this gem thank you thank you! :,,,)
No words can utterly describe this masterpiece but I would go with extremely inspirational, heartfelt, sad (but hopeful and extremely beautiful), and eye-opening. It allows us viewers to observe, feel and believe how unimaginably strong we are as individuals and how invincible we can be no matter what life throws at us. Takuto is human and is one of us. We feel his pain when he can't find a job, when he doesn't know who he is, when he finds out about his illness and feel the imense joy when he comes out triumphant every time. Through the actor's indescribable acting, we get to feel his every emotion alongside him and learn a great deal about humanity and the meaning of life which can rarely be explained in my opinion. Yet this drama easily gifts it to you :,)
His brother's character development was also amazingly portrayed and was very heart-warming and very fun to watch. I would 10000% recommend EVERYONE to watch this IT IS ONE OF THE BEST DRAMAS EVER MADE EVER<3 It will change your life!

How I wish Miura was alive today. My heart aches so bad.. he gave millions so much hope by his insanely REAL and beautiful performance and deserves all the love in the world. Thank you Miura for this gem rest in peace <3 This is my first drama of him but he is entering my Best actors list this instant :,) Oh how I wish he was alive...

I never watch sad dramas. Never. But I couldn’t help it with this one. It just broke my heart in the most terrible of awful of perfect ways.

Now, I’ve never had an incurable illness. I’ll never know what it’s truly like. But I do suffer with depression. And there are definitely some similarities between ALS and mental illness. I don’t want to compare my situation to Takuto’s. They are not the same. But watching him struggle with his illness, struggle with communicating with his parents, struggle with being open and honest with his family and friends and co-workers, struggle with finding purpose in life, a part of me just understands.

It was hard to watch Takuto push people away. It was hard to watch as his parents refused to understand. It was hard to watch Shigeyuki smile to Takuto’s face then betray him behind his back. This was just a hard drama to watch at times. But I understood.

There is literally not one character in this drama that I hate. There were characters that I very much disliked, but that was because they were sucky people, not because they were poorly written, or they were impeding the story in some way. Everyone was so real and true to life. Takuto never felt like a caricature of a person with an incurable illness. He felt like a real person. Megumi was sweet and genuine and kind, but she wasn’t weak or helpless. She was a woman who could make her own decisions and who could change her mind. Their friends were aDORable, and I rooted for their romance from the beginning. Takuto’s family, as well as Megumi’s mother, while at turns frustrating and infuriating, behaved in a way that felt pretty normal. Sometimes families aren’t very good at being helpful, and you have to teach them how to be. But Shigeyuki was consistently my least favorite character.

Shigeyuki was so incredibly sleazy. He was clearly prepping Megumi for when he would finally make a move on her, but because he was so nice all the time, she didn’t even know it. Guys like him are the worst. When they just come out and say, ‘You should cheat on your boyfriend with me/break up with your boyfriend for me,’ there’s nothing to muddle a girl’s brain. The guy is clearly a jerk, and she can just kick him in the you-know-where and move on with her life. When he behaves the way this guy did, acting all nice and genuine and seemingly innocent, it’s very easy for a girl to get confused and fall for his trap. He is so true to life that it is frightening.

My only desire, up to the very last episode, was for him to get kicked off a very tall mountain and fall into the ocean where he would then be eaten by a shark.

But somehow, the drama managed to give him redemption without it feeling forced. When he admitted what we already knew about him, that he had been jealous of Takuto the whole time, and then he realized he didn’t want to be jealous anymore…I believed him.

Jealousy is a hungry beast, and it can make you do some terrible things.

This drama will probably make you cry. It is heartbreaking and tragic and yet incredibly hopeful. The performances are some of the best I've ever seen, and the story is incredibly real and honest. Nothing's watered down or turned into a cliché. If I have any complaints, it might be that the ending wasn't where I thought the writers were taking us, but that doesn't mean it's not good. I recommend this drama to everyone. It's a must watch!

Curtains..

Won’t crack on this too much, the writer and director were clearly aware of the lows of this drama and played into such, but damn was it that hard to at least leave the highs the hell alone?

Boku No Ita Jikan has what you’d want in any great drama specifically from Japan, unfortunately it’s also just as convenient and tropey as any typical jdrama comes, which you’d expect different from a series created within say idk, the past decade? I’ll touch more into that below, let’s acknowledge and praise what makes this drama worth your time.

Ost, ost, ost. I wouldn’t fault you for diving in solely for the beauty each and every track brings to the story. Yes it can be slightly repetitive but be honest, we’d all have the playlist on repeat if they didn’t take full advantage of it. Neatly woven into each and every scene with complete submission to everything that’s happening no matter how small. Abrupt fades into distancing echoes at the look of a character’s finger, low undertones complimenting the body language and kept thoughts of the characters , you’ll be thanking yourself for watching just from how much effort was put into the audio design alone.

Okay uh, let’s see. Take a look at the poster. Take another. I’m curious as to what do you see? Lingering pain ? Burdening responsibility? Simply a young handsome man with tears running down? Well, i see the carrier of this show in its entirety. Not only was Sawada Takuto without a doubt the most complex and interesting character here but dear god did most of their budget had to go in getting this man to play him. With all due respect and excuse my ignorance, the unfortunate passing of some actors/actresses or really in any profession does lead to some sort of...inflation, towards the actual quality of their work. I can guarantee you that is FAR from the case here. Miura Haruma puts his soul into this role. He more than makes up and even blinds us of the mediocrity that surrounded him most of the time. Such masterful body language and expressions were delivered what seemed as effortlessly from this man, i can give nothing but admiration and my sincere condolences to Miura for this outstanding performance, truly a rare talent that has left us too early. Want to give it a go because of the praise that surrounded his performance here? It’s impossible to be disappointed then, feast away.

So, this’ll be quick and semi painless, again they were very aware of these shortcomings and played around with them, so if that’s your thing don’t bother with any more of this, thanks for reading. Extreme amounts of played out tropes dancing around in silly soundtracks as if i was to be amused by the clownery I’m witnessing before me, I wasn’t. Enough conveniently timed plot tools and interactions to make a grown man replace his carpet from clawing at it from cringe. Painfully mundane characters outside of the ML and FL that makes you constantly ask why they even bothered with half the screentime? Would it not have been much more tightly wrapped and better executed in a 5-6 episode mini series? This is another one of those that once you’ve eaten enough, don’t get greedy. Yes you can be of the majority that made it to up to the end with your eyes satisfied, don’t let the 1/10000 put you off the chances of you enjoying the series all the way through. There are several characters i feel would’ve been better off simply not being written in or even touched on, hell simply be in the background and progress the plot like the others.

Overall, Boku No Ita Jikan was worth my couple hours of investment, I’ve learned to not let my eyes be bigger than my stomach from previous titles. A powerful performance from Miura with a decent enough performance from the FL(the only other great character btw). A rather heavy story handled well enough with some valuable lessons to be worth even the most critical of watchers’ time.
