watched 7/24 through 7/31

took me longer than usual to finish (usually finish 16 eps within 3 days) but, i will say that when i started this i had no idea it was about mental health all i knew going into it was that it was two people coliving together, etc. but i was actually very glad that it (mental health) was one of the main topics throughout the show because very few kdramas (that ive seen) portray mental illness as good as i saw it here. i found jang jae yeol’s childhood backstory to be heartbroken and throughout the show i was hoping he could find his peace in the end. i related to him and hae-soo at times because i also struggle with ocd and i RARELY see it getting portrayed. many reviewed with how slow it was and i think the pace wasnt the problem, just how boring some of the other plotlines were. i think this show did a very good job with jae yeol’s relationship and connection to kang-woo, and it was very heartbreaking too😭as well as many other relationships dealing with mental health. on the other hand, it was very and awkward and weird how one of the side characters had romantic feelings for a MINOR when this was a grown man (they even said he shouldnt like her)

the OST was incredibly nice and fit well with each scene and many of the songs can be used as serotonin boosts. in the end, it was a very nice drama (and the main couple was cute) that really makes you think and see people outside of your own common prospective. — “most people aren’t comfortable accepting people who are different from us. we believe them to be wrong since they are different from us. scary thought isnt it?”

Let me just start by saying that I have tremendous respect for the writer of this show for crafting a story that tackles so many difficult issues in such a beautiful, touching way. No other Korean show did as much in terms of humanizing mental health and everyday struggles the way this show did.

The characters are adults that act like adults, talk like adults and struggle like adults. It's not another story of 30 year olds acting like 10 year olds. The writing touches on such issues as stigma, struggles surrounding intimacy, emotions, trauma, the necessity to choose between happy marriage and career and more.

I'd also like to say that Jang Jae Yeol is one the sexiest, most irresistibly crafted male characters I've seen. He has this aura of intellectual cockiness around him that is very alluring. I'm also happy to see Gong Hyo Jin in this production as she often plays characters that are not as sophisticated as this one is. I did find her character to be a bit weird at times, though.

Now I didn't give this show a 10 because even though I love the concept behind the story and I love how multidimensional the characters are, I felt that the middle of the show dragged despite the fact that the story unfolded in a kind of unpredictable way. The pacing just seems to be off.

It's Okay , That's Love ????
- The Review -

MABIGAT YUNG STORYA . at marami kang ipa-process na info along the way - marami kang matututunan .

again , di ako maka get over sa twist . may isa dito na hindi naka-credit as MAIN CAST . SUPPORTING lang . pero sya nagdala ng storya . sya yung turning point . pakshet lang . eto yung tipo ng storya na iisipin mo ng mga ilang araw pagtapos panoorin . iba .

Great series to raise mental health awareness

This is a really great series that would raise your awareness related to mental health. There are a lot of different type of mental problems that plague people in this day and age. They ranged from dangerous to what you probably think are menial. It also really encourage people to admit if they have mental health problem and to treat it as any other health problem that you may have suffered. Why people could easily admit they have cancer or a cold but they would not admit they have OCD or Agoraphobia.

It also portray psychiatrists as normal human. Even though their job is to cure you of your mental problem, it doesn’t mean that they themself couldn’t suffer from some type of mental problem. Just like doctors still could get cancer or heart issues.

It’s a very heart warming story about how people try to battle with their mental problems and how to be fine again. It portrays the struggle of all the different characters with their own issues well. The main point of curing a mental health problem is to admit there is a problem, finding the real cause and find a solution. You have to really be open to see the real issue, because sometime it could be misinterpreted as another issue.

The casts are great, especially the main cast, the 4 people who lives under the same roof. They each have their own problem and they have to learn how to be considerate to each other to live peacefully in the same house.

Jang Jae Yul as the new comer to the house which he actually owns have to adapt to everyone that’s already living there. Jo In Sung play this character so well, you get sucked in by the charm but you could see the crack in the facade and something brewing underneath. His chemistry with Gong Hyo Jin who played Ji Hae Soo is really great. How they seem to challenge each other but then they start to fall in love. It’s progress is believable and so natural.

Jo Do Min and Park Su Kwang that also lives in the same house give variety and depth to the relationship of everyone in the house. Do Min as the father figure and Soo Kwang as the little brother. Everyone’s characters are beautifully written and acted.

Really love the music in this series. A lot of jazzy soundtracks and shooting songs. It really fits in the theme of the series.

I will definitely see the series again, probably not everything, but there are a lot of beautiful and also painful moment that I want to see again.

A completely different RomCom from the ones you know

It's Okay, That's Love is a drama about many characters coming together, each dealing with their own personal struggles. So far, that sounds like a typical drama show, maybe even like a typical RomCom. But what's so refreshing about this title is that the characters' internal struggles heavily include mental health problems and those are actually the focus of most dramatic and suspenseful moments in the show.

Writer Noh Hee Kyung masterfully manages to touch on a lot of taboo topics such as tourette syndrom, schizophrenia, depression, PTSD, OCD and more. All while not ignoring the character's interaction between each other and their everyday struggles. I personally felt like they dealt with these topics wonderfully, although it was somewhat dragged out at certain moments and especially the last few episodes felt a little bit rushed. They should've taken more time for this, but I get why they didn't: K-Dramas need to have their structure in terms of when the most suspenseful moments occur, in which episodes, and when they're relieved. Episode 14 and 15 are usually a huge throwback into the problematic structure, after previously healing already. Episode 15 clears most things up while episode 16 deals with the aftermath and follow-up stories.

It's Okay, That's Love has a beautiful cast and also deals with the life struggles of secondary cast members, although not as much as I would've liked. In the end, this is one of the critiques I got for the show: it was too much focus on Jangyeol - which especially in the last few episodes of the show makes perfect sense, but I would've liked to see more about Dongmin & Yeongjin as well as more about both Jaeyeol's and Haesoo's familys. To me, especially the letter, was somewhat introduced as a huge problem to overcome but then just pushed aside without much explanation in the last episodes.

8.5/10 for a very original take on mental health and not shying away from actually talking about and facing the cruel reality of such illnesses. Some minus points for the plot holes here and there, the leaving out of most side characters of the equation and also for the rushed last few episodes rather than stretching out the focus problem of the story.

This drama is a gem

If you didn't watch this drama you can start it right now without thinking because this drama is impeccable. I watched this drama almost 4 years ago and while i was watching an another drama i remember some scenes from it's okay that's love and after watching all my favorite scenes all over again i am telling you, this drama is perfection. Their chemistry and their acting was out of this world, not just the leads but every character has its own unique story-line and great acting skills, i swear every one of them made me cry at least once. Also, not just OST but song choices were perfect too both for the characters and scenes.

Its my style

Being a medico instantly draws you attention towards medical dramas and movies. This drama is one such. Although the disclaimer says that the cases and its treatment are fake its still satisfies your drama hunger soul. This drama makes you cry, laugh and get hooked to every situation.
The story is nice, not fresh as I have seen leads suffering from childhood trauma but this drama has dealt with issues and resolved it in a mature way. It was surely a treat to watch the psychiatry cases with leads whose sense of humor is so good. it reminds me of my internship days where we used to share a flat and had this unusual type of bond and friendship. The ending was also perfect. It had the elements of warm good bye with everlasting happy memories.

Gong hyo jin is pretty and passively attractive. She is definitely a master with her acting skills. Jo In sung handsome and his beard was sexy and his humor was very nice. I found him strangely awesome. His dialogues and how the story goes is so satisfying to watch.

Ost were so apt with the show. They leave a very deep impression with their lyrics and music. Every song is worth a million claps and perfectly for the show. It happens many a times that you like one or two songs but this album is you cant ignore any song.I feel you, sleepless night, its alright its love, best luck, you cant get enough.

Re-watch. Anytime anymood am up for it. And as both the lead say a dialogue.. am going to repeat it.. its my style.

A pretty good drama about love and trauma

This drama didn't really match my expectations but it was really good. I expected it to be different but this wasn't too bad... I enjoyed watching it. It has a nice story line that progresses quite smoothly and it was quite realistic too. The actor have yet again done ana amazing job and the crew has definitely done a great job! The music was lovely! I could't stop humming it all week and it's just absolutely adorable. It was very nice to see the characters growing and overcoming their traumas and understanding what they truly feel, want and need. It was an incredibly adorable yet painstakingly sad drama true. Overall, A truly adorable work 💋👩🏻‍⚕️❤️‍🩹👨🏻🚽

It's Ok, That's Love is another drama under my ALL TIME FAVOURITE. After years of watching, this drama is still ranking my No. 2. Sometime, I just feel so amazed by the script writers. How can they come out with such a story that initially is like many bits and pieces of events then it just perfectly come together and round up the story so nicely?!

I have nothing to say about the story as it is just too perfect to commend anything. The leads ..... just 1 word 'DAEBAK'. Their chemistry, their acting.... omg.. I strongly believe you will understand what I mean when watching. They have a lot acting that is beyond body language and action. They can act very well using just their eyes. And the OST also matched the drama which really boost up the whole drama to the peak. I can say this drama is a very very 'feeling' drama. Even i have watched several times, I can still feel the romance, love and even heartache everytime i rewatch it.

I can't remember how many times I've watch this drama but definitely I will rewatch it again. The story is really really very good that worth at least a watch.

Honestly I always avoid K Romance Drama as I found it too cheesy for my style. I always though "no person in real life does that" or "if this happen in real life it will be scary" but I just couldn't miss on Jo In Sung's come back. He is forever my favorite actor (mainly because I found his looks enchanting).
So I give this drama a try and I'm instantly fall in love with the story and characters!
Jang Jae Yeol is not like your typical K-drama main lead who will do anything for the love of his life. He still keep his composure ,respect himself and the boundary.

I also find Ji Hae Soo's character development after meeting Jang Jae Yeol really good and therefore make her even more likable characters as the story goes. I definitely love their acting and chemistry.

It might remind you of your own relationship(s)

i had to review this drama. to be honest, at first i found it a little slow, hence i was just about to stop at episode 2. but then i could not ignore the high ratings and reviews i read of this drama in this site. So i continued.

honestly, i was more overwhelmed with how realistic the writer was able to depict a relationship. the fights, those petty reasons that spur arguments in the early stage of a relationship. OMG, i was so reminded of myself and my bf then, now husband now, i would smile at every scene that was relatable. besides that, it was fresh to see the leads shown as real people with flaws and emotions that run wild etc. in the midst of all the chaos, then came the leads' emotional state due to one major issue. then, you see the love so overwhelming and beautifully emoted by both leads. that too reminded me to those personal moments in my own relationship. when we go through tough times together, those petty fights are just forgotten.

for short, this was one realistic portrayal of a relationship between two working and independent adults.

Psychology's drama..

I fell in love with the story, its drama psychology that have alot of trust and love issues in it. Start to solved the problem for every actor by the sypmtomps the have to love uncondicionally of our self first before someone did. The emotion of every actor in here is so good. They bring the atmosphere in serious way so smooth. Even the ending in this dramaa so cool even there some sad scene to be seen. Must to watch since the visual of this drama is good. Jo in sung ♡ gong hyo jin so lovely....
