Okay, it was actually Jeanie who prompted me to start this thread because of something I wrote in the thread on K-drama clichés. In that discussion I expressed my concern over the fact that nowadays I tend to slap (playfully but still) my little brothers in their arm or head if they say/do something stupid. I believe that this is partly because Iâ??m influenced by the model given me in Korean dramas; people in dramas are actually quite violent and always hitting each other even when it isnâ??t an actual fight where the good guy beats up ten gangsters (or sometimes the other way around).
So, to cut this longish introduction shorter, Iâ??ll get to the point.
Are there behaviour patterns or other things that you have picked up from dramas and brought to your real life? For example, do you catch yourself acting like a drama character in some situations? Have you started to utter â??omoâ? whenever you are surprised, take off the battery of your cell phone if you donâ??t want to receive any calls or give back hugs to people? Sudden urges to sing karaoke? A hair-cut copied from a drama character? Anything. Share your experiences! :)
Oh, I put this thread in General discussion because I thought that this way we can talk about all the Asian dramas and not only e.g. Korean ones.

Ha! After watching Crime Squad, I went to my regular stylist with a photo of Song Ji Hyo and her short style, and now I look like a plucky, up-and-coming reporter.
I've picked up various verbal ticks from K-dramas. I used to say "Aiya!" whenever I was frustrated, a habit brought to me courtesy of my Taiwanese friends during my high school days. K-dramas have tried to replace my "Aiya!"'s with "Aish!"es---it was an intense battle, but a compromise was reached eventually. I tend to say "Aiya!" now when I'm flustered or expressing sympathy; "Aish!" has become my go-to word for letting you know that I'm trying really hard not to pummel you. It's usually accompanied by a threatening view of the back of my hand. (I swear I'm not a violent person though! I've never struck anyone out of anger. I do admit to a few playful slaps though, but that was a habit of mine before watching K-dramas.) Also, it's really difficult trying not to greet people with a chirpy "Anyeong~!"

Nobuta is a great drama! It tends to be overlooked by some because it appears like the typical idol-teen drama, but it has a fantasic script and it's a wonderful story of friendship. At least, that's my opinion. :)
This said, I love to say: Tadaima! And at times I say Okairi to my husband, who usually looks at me with the resigned expression of someone who has to put up with oddities on a daily basis.
But that's a linguistic factor, I guess, not necessarily related to dramas.
:)
with me it's all about language. I wish it could be the clothes but I have neither the tiny perfect body shape nor the cash but I digress... I say things all the time now. Like boredandtwitchy, I say "Aish" when I am frustrated. The other day my daughter asked a question that I should have answered with an "alright" but instead I said "alreseo" and got a huge eyeroll for my troubles. I like to say Ppalli! instead of "hurry!" and lately OMO! has crept into the vocab. I love it! OMO! First chance I get to give a back hug I'm going for it!!
I've started to call two of my friends Oppa, they know why I do it, so they don't think I'm TOO weird.
I say "aigoo" a lot.
And I've started to say thanks to my sister in Japanese and Korean.
I've started to say dugeun-dugeun (or something like that) but that was after the We Got Married: Sweet Potato couple episodes.
I yelled that to my sister the other day, she looked at me like I finally lost it.
There are a few more, but can't remember them right now.

Molla (read: Bulla in Korean) = Bulla (in Javanese) ==> same meaning in my country as I DON'T KNOW. I used it many times.
An dwae (Korean: Don't do it) ==> Yell at my nephew named Andre ==> DON'T Do It Andre (An dwae Andre) :D :D :D
When surprise at something = Omo!
Once Korean neighbour said: "iki buya" |My maid said: "Pisang (banana)." |Ahjusshi: "bissan ? (read: pisang, Korean: expensive)" | Ahjusshi: "museun bissan ?" |My maid: "PISANG... (coz she doesn't know how to speak Korean nor English)" |Me: LOL ROFL till coughing :D

Nice thread, Susu :)
Lately my wardrobe is filled with T-shirts with hoods. I have noticed that the female characters in K-Dramas wear these types of T-shirts, mainly those who are the messy/geeky type like Park Gae In (Personal Taste) :P So when I spotted them at a shop, I bought them. I wear them with blue jeans and I think I somewhat look like one of those K-Drama girls. The only problem is my hair. If only I had a Chinese cut hairstyle!
I often say 'Aigoo' to myself and have the urge to use a few Japanese and Korean words in everyday life. In fact, I use them sometimes at school among my friends. Like on my birthday a few days back, when my friends gave me chocolates, I said 'Kumapsumnida' and they were like, 'Eh? What?' I then explained them what it means, LOL.
Also in dramas when something goes wrong or someone says something annoying to a character, he/she makes exaggerated faces whether they're in public or on their own so lately I have found myself making such faces :P No, not in public but definitely when I am on my own, like if I get a paper cut or see something astonishing in a drama on my computer screen.
I have began to greet my friends more than before! Earlier I was very informal to my best friends. I didn't even say 'hi' if we met; simply started with whatever I had got to say . But now I greet them in the morning with a 'Good morning' and say 'hi' whenever I meet them.

hmmm ok here I go.
1. i def wish I could get one of does asian hairstyles but my stylist just looked at me in horror and said: "You know your hair is way too thin for that and its not gonna look the way you want it..." -.- (well at least she's honest)
2. I caught my self saying "ottoke? (what to do/how) a couple of times. Like after missing the bus I just say "ottoke" instead of "shit, what now?"
3. I do that "fighting" thing with that asian accent (well koreans do it as well as japanese, dont they?). At First my friends looked at me weird, but now I sometimes even get a "fighting" back. ^_^
4. I caught myself nodding when greeting people or thanking them. I didnt realize it until last week when my friend who I havent met for a while asked my "what are you doing with your head, girl?"
5. "Aish" leaves my lips on a regular basis
hmmm... those are the ones that just pop into my mind.... ^_^
That sounds weird, but i want to backhug someone too...
I just woudnt know in what kind of situations that would be appropriate. (I just never encountered a situation where I was standing in front of a tall handsome asian male in a dramaly fashion, having a heated argument about something and then had to stop him from leaving with backhugattack which left him speachless... but i wish i would have *.* )

It definitely is difficult! I especially want to do it with a frantic hand waving as for a small child. I saw my friend’s baby today and she had just learned how to wave her hand and I so wanted to utter a chirpy “annyeong!” instead of boring Finnish “Hei hei”. I did not slip but boy, it wasn’t easy… :S

I know that look, I get it from my little brother when I go home at my parent’s place and can’t help but say “tadaima” wishing that someone would respond with “okaeri”. However, I do imagine that our dog’s enthusiastic tale waving and jumping means “okaeri”. And then my mind wanders to Kimi wa petto… Anyway, our dog is about the only person to whom I can speak as much of Korean and Japanese as I want and it won’t give me weird glances. By now it has already used to hear its name with “chan” attached at the end whenever I call him. =)

I make exaggerated faces as well and then go “aish, jinja…cheongmal… ike buya? Aish” with my rather limited Korean vocabulary… :P
[QUOTE=ilovesuperman;6318]4. I caught myself nodding when greeting people or thanking them. I didnt realize it until last week when my friend who I havent met for a while asked my "what are you doing with your head, girl?”QUOTE]
This one! I’ve noticed I do it, too! Since it’s not totally unheard of to nod just a little no one has remarked on it yet but I guess if I continue to do it, someone might find it weird.
There is also a long list of expressions: I use frequently “ottokhe”, “yoshi”, “fighting” and “jinjja”. Judging by the answers so far, languages seem to be the easiest/first thing to adopt from dramas.
Personally, I’ve also been influenced by the food culture. I’ve started to eat more instant noodles :P Not the best thing for your health probably but very useful when you have nothing else at home. Also, I had never eaten with chopsticks before but recently I got myself a pair and I’ve been practicing on my own how to use them. :) Other than that, I think I dress more prettily and femininely nowadays and I also like cute things more than before. There’s still a limit to the cuteness that I can take but I did get myself a cell phone charm - something that would have been impossible, say, still a year ago.
