Does anyone know if there are historical dramas that have the feel of a regency drama?

I know it might be a stretch, especially bcs they are completely different. I just wanted to ask...

I'd say Mr. Sunshine is by far the closest among the dramas I've watched. It definitely has a sort of British period drama vibe to the romance (also some of the music is very much in that style), but don't expect it to be too similar.

Can you explain what you mean by the feel of a regency drama, or give some examples?

But if you mean things like BBC classic period drama series/movies, e.g those based on Jane Austen books, I think you'll find what you're looking for in The Story of Ming Lan!!

Yeah like Northanger Abbey and/or Sense &Sensibility.

Yes I've gotten about 40 ep into that one and it's solid

Ah thank you, it's been on my ptw list for a while. For some reason I've saved watching it

The closest thing in C-historicals to the Regency era would only be the Republican era, in terms of the cross-cultural adaptation.  For sageuk or K-dramas, a similar vibe would be in the post-Joseon Korean Empire era.

Nice banners, they look really wonderful!

Welcome to the club  :)

I found the club late and I'm slowly working my way through the earlier posts, looking for dramas to consider and I must thank MusicalVeggies for the post on the Thai drama, Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat. I don't know what strange voodoo this is, but she convinced me to try a time-travel drama. I normally avoid time travel anything like the plague, but this drama sounds so good :-)

I couldn't quote the post so here is the link if you missed it: ttps://mydramalist.com/discussions/general-asia-forum/59877-historical-dramas-club?pid=1611009&page=1#p1611009

Welcome!!! ^_^

I'm glad you found a drama recommendation thanks to this club!! Stay with us for more updates soon, and feel free to post anything historical drama-related yourself!! :)

EDIT: LOL, you're here for a while, I'm sorry for my ridiculous short-term memory!!!!

Also, to @everyone, I'm sorry if I'm not active enough here, I'll try to do more work on the front page soon, but at least I updated the Banners & Badges and the Currently Airing section for now...

And as always, anyone is welcome to contribute, or to share their own ideas about the club.

After sharing about a Hong Kong drama recently, today I'll post something about Chinese historical fashion.  Specifically the outfits worn by the nobles and royalty.  I think most of us are drawn to Asian historicals not only for the remarkable stories but also the gorgeous costumes.

Thanks much for that! I made note of a few dramas from your list to check out later. A good portion of my enjoyment of Chinese historicals is the fashion; every period's costumes are gorgeous in their own way :)

Haha, sorry for the confusion :D Don't mind me, I'm just reading thru the earlier posts, looking for gems :)

No problem :)

I think you've seen some of them during your historical binge last month lol

There are lots more coming up this year!

Are you watching The Sword & the Brocade currently?
