It is not as political as NiF or JoL but it was the first drama that came to mind  https://mydramalist.com/28435-the-longest-day-in-chang-an  and it won't disappoint :)

Nirvana in Fire 2, The Rise of Phoenixes, and the recently aired Stand By Me come to mind!!

Also, if you're willing to watch Korean as well, Six Flying Dragons is excellent!!

Hello, just found this forum!!

The very first drama that I watched was an asadora - Oshin and there have been so many after from different countries though I've barely updated in MDL. I would like to join this club please, and find more dramas as well as discuss my favourite historical dramas. :)

Hello!!  Sorry for the late welcome but it's great to meet you!  I also really enjoy discussing what I've been watching lately and the impact it's had on me.  So hit me up for a convo any time!  This is a great forum :)

Right now I've finally tackled watching the entire Lost Tomb series(though I honestly didn't do it in the correct order because it was Providence: Reunion that got me hooked).  So I'll be busy with all of those for quite some time.  I'm on The Lost Tomb 2 now.  I find the shifting of actors for each series to be an interesting touch and it let me see a few of my favourite actors when they were younger!

Take care and happy watching!

Hi there!  I finished Royal Nirvana not that long ago and quite liked it.  Perhaps not as complex or finely scripted as Nirvana In Fire but I was still very moved by the characters and story.

Fully agree about The Longest Day in Chang'an....what a ride that one is!

Enjoy :D

Hello! I just found out about this club (Thanks Estelle). Recently, I've tried to piece together when stories have taken place. I decided to make a list for China and Korea. These are just lists of shows/movies I've watched that I then put in order by dynasty or time period. It's fun like a puzzle ^_^ It's a bit more difficult to get specific in the Joseon Era, especially when fictional kings are used, but I hope to one day tidy up that section by also making it chronological.

Korea: https://mydramalist.com/list/1zEVpQE4

I hope to chat with you all about historical dramas ^_^ Thanks for sharing this space with me

You're welcome, and welcome to the club! :)

Check out the front page if you like, there's plenty of things there to explore, I hope (though it's a never-ending work in progress)! There are also this and this forum posts, but they seem to be abandoned now, still a useful resource!!

Hello folks, wanted to ask if any part of Novoland related to each other

I think only Castle in the Sky 1 & 2 and the spin-off movie are related.

Thanks that was knowledgeable ...I know it's about oceanaide but I still don't know if I should watch previous work

Has someone here watched Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace? It looks great from cinematographic point of view but I'm unsure about the "manipulative character" and melodrama aspect as I'm not really a fan of those. The number of episodes don't scare me, but the unknown amount of toxicity/evilness in the drama because I'm bad at coping with it and if it's overwhelming I will likely not be able to complete it. ^^'

I've only watched one Qing dynasty harem drama - Empresses in the Palace - and although I liked it, it was too much for me, I need to be in a certain mood to brave through another one!

Though I need to watch both Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace and Story of Yanxi Palace one day. One day… :D

Thank you for this!! It's a great article, and I finally feel less confused on which one to start… I think I'll try to go either with the chronological order, or the way they were released, lol.
