@TY:  Agreed, provided that you respect my legally binding "dibs" list (version 3 of 10 May 2024):

This reminds me that there are a few other new names (in addition to Nomura) to which I need to establish legal claim.

Okay, this is not healthy, lol, because wow, that's a long list! But, I think I can agree to these terms because the only people I want to call dibs on is Higuchi Kouhei and Mashiko Atsuki, so you can have the rest :D

 American Fan:

Great! I just need a little more clarification, cuz I don't want to assume...but I'm guessing you both mean how did a member discover BL & LGBQT+ dramas?

Yeah! Atleast, that's what I mean :)

 American Fan:
Chana Masala over basmati rice

There is something called Bhindi Masala, try it out with Basmati rice, and istg, you will never try a different combination for that again, it's THAT good! Just talking about it makes me wanna have it tomorrow lol :D

P.S. I know the reciepe says to cut it... well, the way it does, but if you are serious about this, julienne it, it makes it a more satisfying meal! :P

Hi there.

I hope this is the right place for this but I was wondering if anyone can recommend any bl, historical dramas like Meet You at the Blossom and The Untamed? I know about the recommendations on the drama's page but that only shows a few dramas at a time so any recommendations would be great, cheers.

Day 14: Your favorite foods. Do you cook yourself, dine out, have it delivered? Recipe links? Share pics!

Okay, let me start of by saying I am a vegetarian, and an Indian vegetarian at that. So that means no meat, no sea food, no egg or even garlic (that's not necessarily common to all Indian vegetarians, it's because of my community). Which also implies I have never, ever tasted a bland plate ever in my life. Nope, almost all the dishes I have eaten so far in my life contain some spice, herb or a condiment of some sort. I know everyone likes their hometown's dishes the best in life, but I cannot even begin to start how much I like Indian food. I think you could almost say that I  have an unhealthy obsession with it. I mean, when my mom talks about my favourite dishes, I literally dream about them. So yeah, its a level of obsession you might have never encountered before.  Surprisingly, I don't cook because apparently I do the job of an eater wayyyy better than a chef, so that's my role as far as the kitchen in my house is concerned. I know that makes me sound lazy, but my mom has a weird thing about not letting me cook in the kitchen, despite me asking her several times, so I can't do anything about it :(

But I do have a cookbook of literally all my mom's recipes so that when I start cooking the day I do, I wanna be prepared! :D

My favourite dishes include:

  1. Sarvapindi ada
  2. Neer dosa
  3. Uthapam
  4. Jeera rice with Dal Makhini
  5. Orupadai
  6. Keerai sambar
  7. Nice, crisp dosa with chutney and sambar, because let's face it, nothing beats the classics! :D
  8. Butter naan with paneer butter masala
  9. Kalyana Rasam
  10. Arachivitta sambar
  11. Thiruvadira Kali Kootu
  12. Semiya Idli
  13. Chammagadda curry
  14. Aapam
  15. Sabudhana Upma
  16. Amost all of my mom's curries

And that's only the main dish... I haven't even started on the podis, thokku(s), the chutneys,  sweets and savouries! But I am going to spare you all the tongue twister that is my list lol :)

Oh, and I realise that most of you may not know what these are, and you may not get most of these even in the most authentic Indian restaurants abroad, because I feel they have a wicked plan to never let anyone taste these beauties, but if you ever by chance come across them, my only advice, don't pass it up, you have no idea what you are missing out on! Once you do, your taste buds will sparkle like the  mouse in ratatoullie! :)

I really love you for this Q&A AmericanFan! *lots of hugs and kisses your way!*

Oh, and a free recipe for Tomato Rasam if anyone wants to know what the hell I am talking about! :P

wouldn't a stuffed tortilla be a taco?

wait-- let's not get into this because this is a controversial topic lol

August Challenge (DAY 14) - Food Food Food

At home we mainly eat Mexican food. I rarely eat Mexican food out because it's simply better at home. It's no surprise that the comfort food closest to my heart is native northern Mexican cuisine. Every time I travel, my mom asks me what food I want when I come home, and it's always one of these two stews.

  • Caldo De Queso (Cheese Stew) : Potato, California Chiles, Fresh Cheese
  • Gallina Pinta (Spotted Chicken) : A stew with no chicken, called this because of its colors that resemble a spotted chicken. It's made up of beef, beans, and hominy.

I'm also a big fan of Asian food. I sometimes make my own Japanese or Korean food at home (since we don't have any good restaurants in town) and eat out at a local Vietnamese-Chinese restaurant and at a Thai one. For Japanese food, there is a site I often use that is super helpful, with great recipes. It has yet to fail me

Other Random Dishes I love:

  • Papaya Salad
  • Lasagna : there is this one local restaurant that makes great lasagna, it's easily their best dish
  • Pizza : the Italian kind, the USA  kind, the Japanese kind, I'll eat them all
  • Katsu Curry :  this feels like comfort food
  • Mexican Ceviche
  • BBQ Ribs
  • Shrimp Boil
  • Bruschetta: I crave this a lot
  • Salvadorian Popusas : omg with cheese and pork rinds and curtido, if you find a good shop for this never let them go.
  • Cheesecake : I've baked and bought all the kinds

wouldn't a stuffed tortilla be a taco?

@axdxes: A quesadilla (left) is basically a Mexican grilled cheese (= queso) - so it's a large tortilla folded in half, heavy on the cheese (maybe other stuff, too) and grilled, so it's just slightly crispy on each side.  It's quite distinct from a taco (middle) or burrito (right).

(How does someone in Germany know these things? I lived in southern California long looong ago.)

Actually I was being lazy with my description and teasing you.

Taco's are soft or crispy with an open edge on one side for the filling. Quesadillas are flat with a filling between two soft tortillas then browned on each side, like a pancake.

I know you know! I didn't want to confuse others.

I have a family member who owned a Mexican restaurant for many years. Not that it makes me an expert...lol.
