This episode was pretty good, but I did have issues with the character of TaeJun. I felt it inconsistent that he's at one moment protecting her (and I certainly thought that he knew she was a girl by this point), and at the next moment, he's blowing up at her. Granted, Izumi did this occasionally in the manga, but usually it was when Mizuki would delve too far into his past or personal life. The change in reaction here seemed too sudden, which may be the result of rushed editing than anything else.

I had no problem with Minho's portrayal--even if I felt the fight scene looked too much like an action film and not like a guy who's just trying to get someone away from someone else. I actually think he's doing an okay job, but Eun Gyeol is by far my favorite!

i dont think the change of attitude was exactly random, he had his reason in the end to kick her out and he did say he believes it was for the best. of course the hugging scene kinda went abit over cuz i really dont think the drama had reach the point where KT would do such a thing yet, his emotions are running abit too fast

I really did think Taejun knew...part of me still thinks he knew but he finaly got the confirmation.
It is the only think that makes sense for his sudden change in attitude.

Also the mother thing was a nice touch.
Loads of nice little moments. The fight was not! In spoiler proof white I want to say the following....It bothers me how casual they are about attempted rape. Urgh, did this happen in the manga??? Because then I'll be more understanding...since mangas are full of problematic messed crap. Any way yeah UNWHITE! :) It is like a magic power. Regarding the sudden change in attitude and snapping. Perhaps you're right about the editing but it doesn't really distract me too much. He isn't as aggressive and unnecessarily cruel as most leads in dramas. I think he did have a go quite a few times to begin with when he really just didn't know how to deal with this peppy weird stranger who wants to be in his face all the time...but the last time he flipped out I felt he did to get rid of her for her own good after that whole brother conversation. I really am starting to really like this show. I look forward to watching it next week. And nods* Eun Gyeol IS the best! <3

the attempt rape bothered me alot too, but what bothered me more was the guy who tried to rape her was a relative no? it just doesnt make sense for someone to risk the problem that would come after it for doing such a thing x.x but then again its a drama

And about the whole...'just a drama'. Film/Drama/Literature reflects real life and the creators views on said subject. It also influences audiences.

So if they are gonna do something like that, I'd rather it not be just a drastical decision to be dramatic....it deserves to be dealt with more dignity. It is their responsibility as members of society in a position of influence. What a drama says...people hear.
I know it is 'fiction' but it is still influential.
Plus WAAAAY too dark for a romcom.

I understand where you're coming from, I really do, but the attempted rape is part of the manga--it wasn't just a decision to put it in. I do agree that I think the Korean version is coming from a darker place which I'm not completely comfortable with, being that HK is a shoujo manga, not a melodrama, and not at all supposed to be taken completely seriously.

I just read all the 19 pages of comments. ;p I just like this drama so much. Unfortunately, I've only watched 2 episodes of it so far so I don't really know what happens in episode 3 and 4, but I like the lead characters so far - it seems like they really concentrated on giving their characters, character. I also watched the Taiwanese and Japanese 2007 versions of Hana Kimi and read the manga. But I haven't watched them in a while, so I forget the little details. Sorry. Wu Chun and Oguri Shun were both too... don't know the correct word here... they didn't give enough emotions into their playing? too stiff? Something like that anyway. Same with Maki. Ella - I thought that she over-acted too much. But towards the end of both dramas, I could start to "feel" the characters. This is why I like this version so much - I can already "feel" the characters and I've only watched 2 episodes so far... You know what I mean?

Yes, I know what you mean, about Wu Chun and Ella at least. I couldn't watch the Japanese version. But yeah, I thought the acting was mechanical.

I think that's why I like this version too.

i totally understand what your talking about ... tho i think wu chun in general acts mechanical (or at least all the drama i watch of him so far didnt meet my expectation) and what annoyed me most in the T-Version was the Ella. As for the J Version, i think its to be expected since J drama usually dont focus on the romance and how it builds

OK, watching this is really making me want to watch the 2007 J-version again, and I probably will. I love the J-version so much more and really all Japanese dramas because it/they are so much more believable. It made no sense to me why Kang Tae Joon is already acting like Goo Jae Hui is a girl that he loves and needs to protect before he's even found out that she is a girl. BUT I don't think I'll be able to quit watching this version either. lol there's still something magical to the whole thing. I don't hate this version. I actually like it, and even though the J-version is way better there's still something I love about this version too. Maybe it's the new situations, maybe it's the new environment, maybe it's just because the hana kimi story is just so good, or maybe it's the cheesy k-drama romance I'm arguing against but still liking anyway lol. I'm not sure, but whatever it is I know I won't be able to stop watching until it ends.

I'm really loving this drama. And I think the OST is awesome.
