The 58th Baeksang Arts Awards will be broadcast live on May 6 at 7:45 p.m. kST via JTBC

oooof, i am rooting for every TRS cast member + Key in the entertainment category but why did Korea have to have so many good shows this year,,,,, between Kim Nam Gil and Lee Jun Ho for best actor i feel like not giving Nam Gil his Baeksang would be a snub of the highest order but at the same time so would not giving Jun Ho? i would feel slightly less disappointed if Jun Ho didn't get the Baeksang, tho, not bc i don't love him but bc he's gotten so many nominations for other awards recently + TRS has swept the nomination board but Nam Gil is the only one representing the gem that was TTD and they need acknowledgement for that—regardless of who wins, this would be Jun Ho's first Baeksang if he does and Nam Gil's second after 12 years. they both deserve the world <333

I think only people who have seen all the dramas nominated will have the most accurate view in who should win. Ive seen pretty much all of them and imo, D.P. deserves to win best drama. That drama left me awe struck and the sheer complexity and meaning/importance of it as a whole was just INSANE. There has never been a drama like it before and I doubt there will again due to how gutsy it was to even air.  I also think Jung HaeIn deserves best actor just as I have constantly gone on and on for the past 4 years about how he’s been playing the same old boring 2D characters over and over but THIS DRAMA SHOWCASED HIS ACTING LIKE NO OTHER.  If not him I was have to say Lee Jung Jae for Squid Game. It just has to be said. That drama would have been nothing without him, his acting was literally flawless and impeccable. I’ve watched over 100 kdramas over the pas 5 years and I haven’t seen anything like it. No surface level BS but just incredible acting.  Ah also, for best drama I would've said 25 21 but honestly the last few episodes completely messed it up.

AH BEST ACTRESS,  I thought about this long and hard before i saw Han Seo Hee’s name and then immediately thought YES, it needs to be her. I thought Kim TaeRi for a little while but there was just something about her acting in 25 21 that put me off a little.  My mind also swayed towards EunBi but honestly no one can top Han SeoHee in My Name. From beginning to end she was incredible and for the huge amount of physical pain she must’ve put herself through… I actually cant imagine.  SHE PERFORMED ALL OF HER OWN MF STUNTS and goddamn there was a lot! Not only that but she pulled off an amazing display of character without overdoing it. An absolutely incredible performance from her in another insane drama that also couldve easily been nominated for best drama.

A lot of JTBC dramas like Lost, Reflection of You, Inspector Koo got snubbed. I was totally looking forward for Heo Jinho being nominated for Best director, Lost being nominated for screenplay, Go Hyun Jung  and Lee Young Ae deserved a nomination for best actress. The Baeksangs clearly seem to   favour the popular shows of this year and this isn't fair.

However, the only nominations I'm satisfied with are best actor, best new actor and best new actress. I'm really happy seeing Jung Haein nominated but will be rooting for Kim Namgil though. His performance in TTD was phenomenal! Also, I'm glad to see Kim Hyejoon nominated for best new actress. She is definitely an actress to look out for!

I was shocked that Move to Heaven was completely missed out in all categories.. and Tang Jun Sang was nominated for Best New Actor for Racket Boys, instead of his portrayal in Move to Heaven as the autistic teenager with an incredible memory and logical reasoning to uncover untold stories of the deceased through items left by the deceased.

I was also hoping that Lee Seung Gi's Mouse performance will see him running for Best Actor this year. He missed it last year as Mouse was airing only mid-way during the qualifying period last year, and his turn as the psychotic killer was only unveiled in the second half.

It is Move to Heaven's Han Geu Roo and Mouse's child Jung Ba Reum who introduced me to watch Racket Boys, which is also a drama that deserves more recognition.

The 58th Baeksang Arts Awards 2022 will take place on May 6th at 7.45 PM KST.
