I am watching all of these videos right now and I think that's the result the banning ultimately has: It makes the (mostly) long-forgotten songs once again interesting and raises their popularity.
yes, it gives a + of popularity and a rebel side to the artist...well, what's a + in occident may be a - in Korea...I don't really know how "having a rebel side" is perceived in asia...
I remember they had a banning party every time GD & TOP released a song.

It certainly depends on the image of the singer/group. Having a banned song certainly doesn't fit cutey girl groups with a clean slate but some artists like HyunA/etc who try to appear mature and sexy might actually benefit from being on the black list. They are already known to be provocative and "being ratified as too sexy/supposedly violent" only emphasises their bad boy/girl image.
