NightTraveller:
Thank you!!! So I've already watched Hapimari and I already have Orange Days on my PTW Movie List. I've added Sayonara Itsuka and Ice World to my list. Midaregumo sounds so good. May ask you were you watched it, with English subs? I'm not sure about Wet Woman in the Wind. I usually don't watch movies that contain nudity. I don't mind watching if the nudity is done tastefully and not like the ones you see in True Blood (Western TV show). As for In the Realm of the Senses, I was actually going to pass on this, but when I read in the comment section that it was based on a true story I changed my mind. I'll definitely be watching it now. I've also added My Husband's Penis Won't Fit. Thank you so much for all of the recommendations.
You're welcome! Just so you're aware, though, all the movies on this list contain nudity. Midaregumo would be the only exception, and I agree it's a fantastic movie! One of my all time favourites! You can find it with subs on Avistaz (hopefully you already have a membership? If not, let me know and I'll see if I can invite you).
I never got around to watching True Blood so I can't gauge how much nudity you can tolerate based on that example. However, I would classify the nudity in Sayonara Itsuka and Wet Woman in the Wind as tastefully done. In the Realm of the Senses has graphic, extended nudity and sexual content that some people might experience as too much ... or even pornographic. However, as you observed it is based on a famous true story that occurred in Japan in the 1940s. I think the director's aim was to show the raw and palpable emotions that led to the toxic sexual obsession the characters developed for each other - to the point where they would do stuff that defied logic. I really enjoyed the movie, but if nudity and blatant displays of the sexual act offend you, don't watch this one.
My Husband's Penis Won't Fit also contains nudity, which is extremely rare for a J-drama. In J-dramas these days you barely get a proper kiss, muchless actual scenes of intimacy and sex. But there are some good kisses AND love making in this drama. After all, it's about the life's journey of the couple from they met in college until they're pushing 40. I really liked it and thought it was a great change of pace from the usual bland romance jdramas that's usually produced. If I remember correctly, there's only one scene in the entire drama with full nudity. The rest is just kissing & touching, usually with clothes on.
