By doing good edits and following the guidelines.

If you  can't make edits because of low points and have never violated guidelines, it stands to reason that there is  something else.

The same only says you have low points if your submissions were rejected multiple times before.

Try different types of edits.

Where can I find the guidelines? Also I'm on the webpage and can't see if I have any points. I just joined this year so is it possible I can't see anything because I'm new?

How to get points? 

You can get points by contributing, making edits to actor profiles or drama/movie pages. For example, adding missing cast to the cast list, adding the content rating to a title that doesn't have one listed yet, adding the birthday of an actor, etc. You can also get points by adding new titles and people profiles to the site.
