Hi. That is a great article, and pretty accurate coming from someone who's not Thai. I'm so glad people are writing about Thai dramas (but I'm a Thai guy who prefers Korean dramas. In my country, they call people like me "selling off home country" LOL -- it's a joke I hope you understand, but hey for some conservative people this is a serious issue as well) Anywayy, some things I wanna say:
1. Leading actress is not Nong'ek but Nang'ek
2. The common plot lines - ON. POINT. Standing ovation.
3. Lakorns are actually a term to use only with dramas that air on national TV networks (Channel 3, 5, 7 with a side of Channel 9 who is now becoming semi-cable network). Those are such as Leh Ratee, Dao Kiang Duen, from the ones you mentioned.
4. The other ones that you mentioned, such as Diary of Tootsies, U-Prince, Ugly Duckling, are called "series" and they're the product of cabel TV networks (GMM, One, GDH, Channel 8, etc.)

http://lovekoreana.com/favorite-thai-actors/ I'm surprised you know Golf! He's really famous as a celebrity and a singer, but he's not famous as an actor. Boy Pakorn, Nadech, Mark Prin are so famous along with James Jirayu and James Ma. These five are the Channel 3 top stars, mostly because they appear as "Pra-ek" (lead male characters) every. single. day. They can be leads in up to 4 lakorns that air in the same period of time. And some of them starred together in the Gentleman of Jutathep (these "Khun Chai" ones:

I wish you write about actresses too. ^^
