I completely disagree that he should stick strictly to modern dramas like HL. Pushing an actor with genuine range…
White olive tree is also modern drama 🤣

Why is the rating so low? Just asking
It’s just a rating given by viewers assuming they have actually watched the drama. They may or may not like it and that’s perfectly fine.

If you want to watch it, you can simply ignore the rating. It’s entirely up to you.

From the trailer, it looks like it’s going to be very politicalI wish there were more romance in it.
There will definitely be some romance but probably not as much as in the novel.

I may be biased too but I hope he chooses a modern drama for his next project since he has already filmed so many costume dramas.

Why doesn’t he do modern dramas? He fits modern drama the most. He looks more feminine than his female leads…
He can do both šŸ™‚ He has also acted in a Republican-era drama and a suspense drama already. Whatever the genre is, I think he can try it if he wants to.
Whether every role suits him perfectly is another matter of course.

But as some of my friends have mentioned, actors shouldn’t limit themselves to only one type of role, such as doing costume romance dramas over and over just because they are popular with female viewers or sticking only to modern romance because that style suits their appearance and attracts the same audience 🤣

An actor should be willing to explore different genres and characters instead of always staying in the same comfort zone šŸ™‚

What exactly is the point of dubbing Chinese dramas? Don't get me wrong I've watched tons of Cdramas and I'm a…
South Korea is a much smaller country, so regional accents are generally less varied than in China. Korean dramas are also usually broadcast using the actors original voices recorded during filming.

When comparing them overall, I personally feel that Korean dramas often showcase more natural and convincing acting than many Chinese dramas. No offense, I think you probably understand what I mean.

Still, some viewers may be more fascinated by Chinese costume dramas because of the elaborate sets, props and overall visual style.
Korean historical dramas usually use more natural-looking fabrics and simpler costumes while Chinese costume dramas tend to be much more extravagant and fancy.

Usually, actors with perfect voice acting skill will dub their own characters anyway. Another reason they cannot always use the audio recorded during filming is that there may be too much background noise which could affect the overall quality of the drama. So it also depends on how good the sound recording was during filming.

Yeah, I agree. Voice acting should be part of an actor’s job and they should practice it. It can also help them improve their acting skills overall.

It’s great that the screenwriter is also the author of the original novel according to what someone mentioned here. That should help keep the dialogue faithful to the source material.

Can censorship approval be revoked? Why the immediate rush to start airing the show?
Based on my Weibo stalking šŸ˜‚, there was a rumor that either this drama or Miles Wei’s idol drama would air around the end of July.
Hunan TV had an available time slot after Love for You, starring SWL and ZJY finished airing.

It seems Mango wanted to air this drama first but the censorship approval had not yet been issued. So they waited until the very last possible day to see whether it would be approved. Luckily, it finally received approval which allowed them to air it all of sudden.

Otherwise, they probably would have aired Miles Wei’s drama instead. Since Hunan TV is a satellite channel, they couldn’t simply leave the time slot empty while waiting indefinitely for approval. Online platforms such as iQIYI, Tencent and Youku have more flexibility and can delay a drama for longer but satellite TV schedules are much less flexible.

I’m not sure whether you know this, but both Mango TV and Hunan Satellite TV are operated under the state-owned Hunan broadcasting system.

why is the rating so low? Definitely deserve an 8 or higher!
A rating of 7.9 is perfectly fine, so don’t worry. šŸ™‚ People who genuinely want to watch the drama will watch it anyway. It doesn’t represent the opinion of the entire audience.

There are many reasons why dubbing is so common in Chinese dramas. First, China is a huge country and actors may have very different regional accents depending on where they were born. Using dubbing helps maintain consistent, standard Mandarin throughout the drama and avoids noticeable differences in accent between the characters.

It also helps remove background noise recorded during filming. On top of that, censorship authorities may require dialogue changes during post-production when it is no longer practical to bring the actors back and reshoot those scenes. In such cases, the production team can simply replace the dialogue through dubbing instead.

For Chinese audiences, an actor who has a noticeable regional accent but is still able to dub their own character is often highly praised. It takes a lot of effort to adjust their accent, improve their pronunciation and recreate the same emotions in the recording studio as they felt while filming the scene.

International viewers may not care as much about this but in China, voice performance is also considered an important part of an actor’s craft.
Actors are often expected to keep improving by practicing their line delivery, pronunciation and voice acting skills as well.

the receive censorship approval the day before airing ?! that’s crazy 😦
As far as I know, the reason for the delay has never been revealed. It seems they simply completed the final product quite late while the platform wanted to air the drama during the summer season.

I will have to put my stamp here as this person is telling the truth because I was on Weibo when CZY popped up…
It’s not a big issue. Some fans simply prefer hearing the actor’s real voice, that’s all.

Yes, usually a drama receives censorship approval weeks or even months in advance but this one only received approval on July 27 and then suddenly aired on July 28 🤣 I’m still amazed that it actually turned out quite good despite everything.
