I believe the storyline just fine. As a matter of fact, WJY and CZY carry the drama. If they weren't cast, I wouldn't…
Yes! šŸ¤šŸ¤šŸ¤

I’m here because of Wu Jin Yan and consider her a premier actor. But I question the choice of Chen Zhe Yuan…
In the novel, if I remember correctly, the FL is in her early 20 while the ML is in his late 20, almost 30. Novel readers can correct me if I’m wrong.
So CZY’s age is actually closer to the original character’s age than Jeremy’s, since Jeremy is already in his 40. No offense but it would be difficult to call the character a young emperor if he were the one playing the role, right?

However, I don’t think people should judge the casting based only on the actors real ages. I don’t see a huge age gap between the leads in terms of appearance in the drama.

Besides, when you think about the characters, WJY suits MTH quite well. MTH is tough and independent because she grew up as an orphan, had to support herself and overcome many obstacles on her own. Meanwhile, the ML is a young emperor who may sometimes appear naive in front of his counsellors but he is actually sharp and calculating underneath. So I also think CZY suits the role quite well.

mango doesn’t have heat index but its doing good so far. was at top in several charts and a highly anticipated…
LOL, honestly, the only chart I truly trust is the CVB rating published by the Chinese government. Almost everything else can potentially be manipulated to benefit the companies and investors backing the dramas.

Even Yunhe’s data is difficult for me to trust. Earlier this year, details emerged about the rejection of its patent application by China’s intellectual property authority regarding its method for calculating drama views and popularity.
Yunhe cannot fully eliminate fake or artificially inflated views, and its so-called ā€œeffective viewsā€ are estimates rather than actual view counts. These figures are generated using an AI model that analyzes more than 400 factors, including platform heat indexes, user comments, and social media trends all of which can also be influenced or manipulated through paid marketing accounts.

The intellectual property authority also reportedly concluded that Yunhe’s core algorithm and methodology were not sufficiently novel or technically advanced compared with existing methods, so the application did not meet the required standard for inventiveness.

This is one reason I have concerns about some S+ dramas. Instead of investing more of their budgets in production quality, they sometimes seem to spend heavily on marketing and artificial hype to boost the drama’s perceived popularity and make it appear more successful than it actually is.

Fans have long used Yunhe’s figures as proof of a drama’s success. However, now that more people understand that these numbers are AI-generated estimates rather than actual view counts, the chart’s credibility has been seriously questioned.

So yes, watching fans fight over Yunhe rankings or platform heat indexes as if their favorite actor had just won an Oscar will always be funny to me šŸ˜‚

Just for the record, since many people have asked why CZY couldn’t dub this drama using his own voice, it definitely wasn’t because of money. He was willing to do it especially since he had already promised himself and his fans that he would use his real voice in his dramas whenever possible.

The real issue was a scheduling conflict. The production team contacted him about dubbing only about a week before the drama suddenly aired. The dubbing work would have required around four hours a day which he simply couldn’t manage while he was still filming Fusheng.

I had been following Fusheng Reuters and he was filming late into the night..sometimes until midnight or even later. There was no realistic way for him to spend another four hours dubbing afterward. Otherwise, he would have had almost no time to rest and it could also have affected the filming of Fusheng. That is why he had no choice but to let the voice actor handle it.

I could tell that he was genuinely upset about it. When he came back late at night and talked to his fans on Weibo, he explained that he really couldn’t do it, even though he had previously promised to use his own voice for all his dramas.

Honestly, I don’t really want to blame the production team but I still wonder why they contacted him only one week before the broadcast. CZY had plenty of time before joining Fusheng, almost half a year after this drama finished filming last year.

Maybe the post-production process was simply very slow. The production company also seems to have had limited resources and staff because, well… they were apparently quite broke šŸ˜‚ They only received censorship approval one day before the drama aired. That was probably why they couldn’t announce the official broadcast date in advance and had to suddenly drop the drama without much warning especially since Mango wanted to air it during the summer season.

Judging by everything the production team went through, I honestly expected the drama’s quality to be much worse. But it actually turned out quite okay which was a relief.
Besides, using voice actors is common in C-dramas, so it’s really not a big deal.

Anyway, it has already happened and the voice actor did a really good job despite such a tight schedule, so let’s just enjoy the drama now šŸ˜‰

Mango should have a heat index like the other platforms. I would love to see actors fans using it to roast one another, acting as if their fave breaking the heat-index record were equivalent to winning an Oscar šŸ˜‚

Do you mean The Mystic Nine?! No doubt about it, I watched the trailer and it definitely looks so good! šŸ˜„ Non-romance dramas are actually perfect for me. Dang, I might watch it if I have time.

The Shen and Di Nian actors are really young aren't they? I just finished Road to success so slightly disoriented…
Actually, if they had used CZY’s real voice, you would be surprised, it is even deeper than this voice actor’s. šŸ˜… He may have soft features and look quite young but his natural voice is deep and powerful. So this voice actor actually sounds softer than CZY himself.

What is the heat index guys? I hope it's doing well.
I’m not sure about its heat index on Mango TV, but overall, the drama has reached 380 million views on the platform. Last night, it also achieved a 0.5% rating and ranked first among satellite TV dramas during prime time.

So, it may not be an outstanding performance, but it’s definitely not bad either, I guess.

I love the scene when the four of them bathe together, each claiming a side. It's so cute when they all physically…
Some people say the drama suddenly showed our F4 bathing together for no reason, just for the sake of fan service. But no...the scene was not meaningless at all.

It actually revealed a lot about the relationship between the emperor and his guards, who are also almost like his friends. They are allowed to bathe beside him, joke around like young boys, and speak to him casually whenever the emperor permits it.

However, the moment he returns to ā€œemperor mode" everyone immediately understands the boundary. They show him proper respect and return to their positions as his guards and subjects.

That scene was included to help us understand the closeness, trust and hierarchy within their relationship. I honestly do not understand why some viewers fail to look deeper into what the drama is showing and dismiss it as nothing more than fan service 🫤

ā€œChasing Dreamsā€ Drama is on the list of prescheduled dramas of Tencent for August. https://weibo.com/2949989907/5326801719001185
This marketing account is quite reliable, so if the rumor is true, it will probably air sometime between late August and September.
It seems Tencent plans to air another historical drama before Chasing Dreams, I may get to watch CZY’s dramas back-to-back! šŸ˜„

The actor who plays Lord Shen here (Zhishu and Zhili's father), is the same one who played ML's father in Fated…
He finally feels relieved that his son has taken the throne...of course in another universe šŸ˜‚

Fun fact, He also played CZY’s father in Our Secret too

Okay Yin Qing, the pharmacist/cosmetic supplier guy, is for sure a villain right? I mean I watched him in The…
I’m wondering about him too. I haven’t read the entire novel, only a few parts...so I have no idea what his true intentions are.

Also, if you watched some of the earlier trailers, there was a moment where his character seemed like he might completely lose control, and it felt quite creepy too.
Anyway, I don’t want to spoil myself by checking the novel, so let’s see what his real intentions are as the story unfolds.

Wait, are you saying you understand Chinese without subtitles?
Hahaha, that’s so true. I’m still wondering why it seems so difficult for the platform to find proper translators when it clearly has good commercial potential.
It’s not like the platform was only recently launched, it has been established for a long time. Yet they still don’t seem interested in improving it even though they want to compete with the other three major platforms.

Honestly, I’m fine with people expressing that they don’t like the drama if they have actually watched it. I can understand that..not every drama can meet everyone’s expectations.

But when someone hasn’t even watched a single episode and still judges everything as if they have already finished the entire drama, especially when it has only just started and hasn’t even reached the main events yet, I honestly don’t give a damn about their opinion.
