I know the drama changed a lot from the novel, but does Jinzhao ever divorce him in the novel? I love the thoughtful gesture of him giving her the divorce letter, but now I have a pit in my stomach that it’s all foreshadowing 😭

Question for novel readers —

Let’s not forget that he also shot at her carriage with a crossbow and pointed a gun at her before hitting her with the whip. Honestly I don’t understand how anyone can support their relationship.

It’s a good one if you can tolerate awful, annoying family members as is typical with costume dramas lol.

I mean there are a few guys who are interested in the FL yes, but as someone who detests love triangles this drama didn’t bother me at all. She develops a crush for one of the secondary characters, but it’s not too draggy and it is NOT a scenario where the ML is sad and pining and jealous. It’s really clear from the first two minutes of the first episode that she’s meant to be with the ML. There IS, however, a very annoying SML who is possessive, jealous and has anger issues. She never develops feelings for him, but likes him as a friend.

One of the best things about this drama imo is that there aren’t any dragged out misunderstandings with the leads. The ML is very very mature, open and communicative. When their romance starts taking off he is very quick to resolve any potential misunderstandings with the FL to make sure she doesn’t get / stay insecure for long. Lots of the elders try to marry off their kids / grandkids in this one 😂So I can think of a few times when the FL got a little jealous briefly before he took initiative to clear it all up. It was cute.
