The feelings are growing

This episode gave us so many warm moments! All the little things they do for each other... it's very visible that Zheng already cares for Chang Yu. He even put in the effort to get back her hairpin. So sweet! ❤️Neither of them could even sleep properly after those exchanged pecks on their cheeks. The feelings are definitely blooming! The highlight was definitely seeing them show Song Yan his place. Even though it looks like he cares for Chang Yu on some level, he's definitely not worthy of her. He just lets others plan his life and needs. Making him a laughingstock at their wedding felt so well-deserved! 👏I wonder who the Marquis is exchanging messages with... They sent medicine for him, organized the payment for his "essay", and got Chang Yu's hairpin back. I want to know who they are!

Intriguing supporting characters

I loved Princess Hade! Her energy is amazing, and her friendship with Bu Yinlou makes me like her even more. On the other hand, Prince Fu seems very shy and lacking in confidence. In my experience with these dramas, characters like this often become obsessed with one of the leads; when they don't get what they want, they eventually turn into villains. I'm curious to see if his story goes differently! Overall, I’m really enjoying the show so far.

Everything is changing

This episode clearly set the footing for the next phase. Even if I loved the romance scenes and the incredible chemistry between our leads, the world around them and beyond is in turmoil.Firstly, we finally heard the Grandfather's secret. To no surprise, it turns out Chang Yu's father wasn't his biological son. Da-da-da-daaam!Secondly, Wei Sheng’s organized killings of citizens are specifically designed to rile people up, turning them against each other and starting riots. At this point, I actually hope Qi Min will intervene to help Yu Qianqian, but that man and his intentions are still a total mystery to me.Thirdly, Xie Zheng has revealed his intentions to leave.Everything is changing; tension between factions is growing, and all the major figures are trying to make their moves at once. It’s inevitably leading to a massive clash. I’m waiting for tomorrow’s episodes—the drama is unfolding, and I want to be right there in the front row!

Trial after trial

This episode was such an emotional rollercoaster! I was terrified for Chang Yu, Zheng, and little Ning the whole time.At first, they sent Chang Yu to prison based only on her aunt's accusations, without any real evidence. Then we learned that the Fan house was attacked, with Zheng and Ning nowhere to be found. Luckily, they managed to escape and were hiding in the forest, freezing. I bet Ning was so scared, but she didn't panic or show it. Such a brave little girl! Thanks to Zheng, waves—literally waves—of assassins were killed with masterful skill. All his moves held such grace and flawless accuracy; considering he was still healing and not at full strength, it felt truly EPIC!Meanwhile, thanks to Constable Wang, Chang Yu was released from prison and rushed to find her sister and husband—finding them just in time and making her first-ever human kill.Everything that happened next was just as tense: Zheng is back to the state he was in in episode one, Chang Yu's hands won't stop shaking, and they cannot return home as it's been locked down by the Yamen. And then an arrest warrant for Zheng... WTF! Then they are both put on trial again—Chang Yu is sent back to prison for "escaping", and Zheng is accused of being a bandit...Zheng was ready to kill everyone there, as he clearly felt the judge was unfit for his power, handing out guilty verdicts left and right. Thankfully, his friend Headmaster Gongsun arrived with travel papers for Yan Zheng, his scholar. That got our boy released, and Chang Yu as well.My emotions are all over the place. I was so angry at the judge, the aunt, and the assassins... and yet, we still don't know who actually killed Chang Yu's uncle! But one thing is sure—it is all a setup.

All I ask for is happy ending

All I want is for them to have a happy ending in modern times. I want them to retain the personalities they have had throughout the drama and stay in a place where I truly cared for them. That's all I ask. 🥺🙏

Chaos and destruction

Hailou's ability to create chaos from scratch is unparalleled. 😂 And I quite enjoy his duo with the "Cousin".But what was that final scene? Another hallucination caused by the poison, or actual Haixia's body? I can't trust what the Zhang brothers see anymore when they're poisoned, especially when one of the dead bodies for the third time is Ruipu's. 😯🫣I want to think that Haiqi has an actual plan for why she's not revealing herself to Hailou, and that it's not because she doesn't trust him. 🤨 Also, I wonder if the jade-stealing incident was something we witnessed from their childhood memory—the "Apple Theory", where the goal was to steal something from right under someone's nose without raising any suspicion. That's pretty much what happened with that jade, however, I am not sure if Hailou stole it or Haiqi herself. ☝️🧐🤔P.S. I could wish "rest in peace" to Steven, but I am not sure if he won't suddenly appear in upcoming episodes, alive and walking. It seems like death is just for visuals in this drama. 😏

I am shocked beyond reason

We started off so well with Hailou and the "Cousin" returning to Nan'an... Their dynamic on the investigation cases was quite funny, and "Cousin's" sharp nose could fill the missing bit of Shrimpie's sense of smell. 😏😂When their investigation led to the third class, and we had seen Haixia in there just a few minutes prior, I was so looking forward to a reunion... 😍 Encountering that scene made me so excited! But then the last 10-ish minutes started and OMG, I can't even explain how I feel now... 😭💔Haixia never actually met Hailou, yet he sensed his presence there and put two and two together to realise the guy marching through the level with a dead body was actually Hailou's friend. ☝️ Haixia tried to reach Hailou, fought, and then hid, but his fresh injury exposed his hiding place and he was... what... KILLED?! 😱🤯 He cannot be dead... right? There will be something that saved him and Haixia will be alive and well... He must be! 😭🙏

Rivals, alliances and countdowns

Once again, I absolutely loved Chu Tang! 🤩 She did incredibly well defeating that arrogant scholar in both the weiqi game and the calligraphy contest. Who says women cannot be as good as men—or even better? 😂👏Deng Yi, Xiao Xun, and even Yanfang are now being heavily pressured by Chu Zhao. 😏 Deng Yi feels the most threatened and suspects he might be the first one to fall, so he chose a bold move to target Yanlai, calling for his execution for disobeying imperial orders. 😟 However, Yanlai is smart enough to buy time for his investigation by asking for a six-month countdown to bring back the Northern Desert King's head. At least now he has a solid reason to stay in the North and investigate. ☝️🧐The tension is real, and all the fragile, double-faced alliances are barely holding together now. 😬

Madness and chaos

The explanation for why previous episode felt so trippy made so much sense! So, it was all due to the poison of the Twilight Grass. Luckily, Haixia had some antibodies from three years ago, so he didn't die, but instead just hallucinated a lot. 😌😮‍💨 Ding Yuxi's acting throughout that entire sequence—how he talked with an imaginary Hailou, with himself, with the wooden pillar, and how he dealt with that guy—was amazing. He looked like a complete madman and I absolutely savoured it! 🤩👏It's wonderful to watch how a man in a wheelchair can be so much more capable than any other perfectly healthy man. That says a lot about Haixia's character and his skills. 😏Hailou just kept being his usual funny self. He came up with yet another insane plan by making people think they were sick just to find the culprit. Even though that was unsuccessful, at the last second he realised it was the doctor. He was then forced to flee Nan'an by jumping into the sea, eventually entering the other ship via the shitting hole and wreaking a little chaos there! 😂And again... I really do hope the brothers meet soon. 🙏

Smells and mind games

I don't think the Evil God is dead. They blew him up the first time and he survived, so I doubt this time will be any different. I suspect that to actually kill the God, they need to destroy all the mini-statues first, though I'm not entirely sure how. They seem to be so lively and practically invincible. Plus, there is more than one to deal with! 🤨My biggest joy, of course, was seeing them finally end up on the same ship. I'm hoping for a proper reunion next episode, perhaps? 🤗🥹 However, Haixia could also strategically choose to act from the shadows. ☝️ And Hailou and Steven are such an entertaining duo! I can't stop laughing at how Steven just completely goes along with all of Hailou's insane plans. 😂Haixia's hunt while tracking the smell of cured meat was so trippy. 😵‍💫 Especially that scene in the storage room when the Evil God's mini-statue played those mind tricks on him, dragging up all the worst possible thoughts he could have about himself regarding his disability. Poor Haixia! 🥺😟P.S. But Miss Dong got me all confused. She's Haiqi in disguise, correct? Or did I miss something before...? 😕

What would Shrimpie do?

I wonder how they were able to hide that huge, cave-like construction in the lower parts of the ship. Mystery indeed! 🤨Fast Gun was not as useful a partner as Haixia would be, but he was hilarious for sure. 😂 I loved how Hailou was always half-hiding behind Fast Gun's back (I forgot the guy's name!), almost looking like he was ready to use him as a human shield if the situation called for it. 😏I particularly loved that they didn't forget about Haixia in this episode. I missed his presence on the screen, but at least they gave us his voice reminding Hailou to quit smoking, and adding that self-asked question, "What would Shrimpie do?" when Hailou had a dilemma. That was nice! 🤗 Overall, a quite funny episode. 😂

Choosing the path of healing

Hmm, A'Li told Xiuyao she dealt with the snakes herself, while to Captain Li she continues to say it was Master Zhu... She's confusing me there. 😖 But Xiuyao finally agreed to the leg treatment! I couldn't be happier for them! 🤗 How caring she is with him, running to ease his pain whenever she hears him groaning. They are so affectionate with each other; it's wonderful to watch the growth of their relationship and feelings. 🥰I am actually quite grateful they gave us not only A'Li's side of the story about what happened eight years ago, but also Prince Li's. They align, but give two different perspectives. I know it wasn't entirely Mo Jingli's fault and he was just an orphaned child, quite easy to manipulate, threaten, and scare. He has been a victim of his status and the Empress Dowager's and Marquis Muyang's greed and ambition; however, it doesn't justify the choices he has made now—especially regarding Ye Ying and Ye Li. 😠😤Ying's scene in the rain... I don't know if she'll turn out to be an antagonist at some point or not, but I feel so sorry for her. I just want to hug her and tell her everything is going to be okay, and that she should focus on herself and her self-growth instead of that scumbag. 😔🥺Side note: Ye Ying's actress looked so beautiful in that rain scene. ☺️

Injuries, backstories and many feelings

I can really understand Xiuyao's anger. He worries about her so much, and she keeps disappearing and doing God knows what while she's gone... 🥺 But now she's about to tell Xiuyao what happened between her and Prince Li. And did I get that right—he's responsible for everyone being killed eight years ago? I hope her story reveals that too. 😟😯I bet that master who "saved" her is also actually dead, and in truth, the one who saved her was herself... like it has been all those years. Oh, poor A'Li! Her head is even more messed up than I imagined. 🥺😟 I wonder what Captain Li thinks about her story.I did like that Ye Ying picked up the injured Mingxi. For a moment I thought she wouldn't... and their little conversation was as entertaining as I expected it to be. 😏😌 And the physician thinking it was Ye Ying who beat him up, lol? Did he think it was a lovers' quarrel or what? 😂 Her tantrum at Prince Li's party was totally justified. To humiliate one's wife like that? She's right—he could have just rejected the bride if he didn't want to marry her! Oh, how I hate Mo Jingli! 😤😠And Ye Ying is not Ye Li's father's daughter? To me, it looked like that guy who approached Ying's mother might have been her lover or something, and possibly Ying's father? 😯 I am so looking forward to Ying's character arc—her life has been built on lies, and she doesn't seem evil—so will it be a beautiful self-discovery arc or something else? 🤔

Separations and reunions

They had me for a moment thinking that Haijiao was an infiltrator all along, but no... she's dead? 😦Zhang Ruipu, who I low-key hoped might become their temporary source of income, is now gone. I didn't expect that to happen so soon, to be fair. 😕The brothers are separated, but Hailou at least is with the disguised Haiqi on the ship, investigating. But Haixia? He's alone and in a wheelchair... the only relief is that he's safe for the time being. 😟🥹 But oh boy, what a badass he is! His sharp mind and precise calculations helped him escape from 10+ assassins? Wow! 👏

What an amazing episode!

Oh, what an amazing episode! I think this was the most action we've gotten so far... right? 🤩⚔️🤨The bed scene was so adorable—him warming her hands and her snuggling up to him, leaving him all blushing and flustered. 🥰😳 And the mother's grave scene was so beautiful—him paying his respects and her introducing her mother to her good husband. Aww... 🤗🥹 Their relationship is so wholesome, caring and heartwarming. 💖However, the sweetness had to end at some point and all the drama elements kicked in, right? 😤 And that takes us to their journey home, where everything just got so extra interesting! 🔥We got bandits—who I don't even know why were there—ambushing the carriage... Could they have been hired by Prince Li to help him "rescue" Ye Li and take her away from Prince Ding? 🤔🤷‍♀️Then we had a lot of running and fighting, leading up to the point where Ye Li met Han Mingxi.... and apparently they've met before? And she even saved his life? 😲 Oh, he'll be our ally for sure, I think. He appeared grateful to her for helping him back then. Mingxi's family was exiled, but only he and his brother survived the journey? And now he's run away from his brother? Their family were the Crown Prince's supporters? Everything links to the fact that he might be someone of importance... I want to learn more of his backstory! 🧐And again there's Prince Li... Jealous of Prince Ding, and he seems cruel in his hidden actions and quite obsessed with Ye Li. 🤬 I bet he even enjoys her being blind so that he can lurk around her... Gaaaah, I want that man gone! I hope Ye Li gets away from him soon, possibly reuniting with Han Mingxi and escaping together? Maybe? 🙏🥺
