Title Our Blooming Youth Spoiler
Even his best friend looks suspicious... But I sense that someone is taking a watch over him... Maybe I am wrong…
Yeah you're right.🙂
Seong On seems cunning. From the weird way he looks it's obvious he hates Hwan or perhaps is jealous. I also bet that he shot the arrow against Hwan at the forest (when hwan was hallucinating). Seong On definitely knew about the massacre that took place in his fiance's house . Maybe his family arranged this massacre to cancel the marriage and get rid of Min Jae Yi 's family. It was said that Min Jae yi's father was Hwan's teacher and mentor. So "someone" killed Min Yae Yi's family and at the same time that " someone'' is repeatedly poisoning Hwan and makes him lunatic. I suspect Seong On's family and the emperor himself for this malicious work. Min Jae Yi's family got killed for being too close to prince Hwan. I believe if her father wasn't Hwan's mentor, he would be alive now. The rest of the evil ministers sure are bad people but they seem to have no clue who does the cursing and the killings.
There's one big question though.... Where is Hwan's mother ? The empress isn't his mother. So is his real mother alive and if yes where is she ? Maybe perhaps she sent the letters and she protects him (if she exists at all)

Yeah. I've faith on her. When her corrupted uncle talked to her she was completely unwilling to listen to him. She seems a kindhearted woman. If she has servants on her side she could easily keep an eye for Hwan's well being. The counselors said that the queen has great influence ( towards the end of 2nd ep). Maybe she tries to save Hwan and she sent the letters with the help of some secret servants. I think the emperor wants to change the price and have that little 12yo kid as his successor so he can postpone his governing and remain as a king. Maybe Seong On (prince Hwan's friend) secretly works with the emperor to overthrow Hwan and drive him to deep madness. The counselors haven't created this course so it must be someone else. Someone wants Hwan out of the leadership (or even dead ) and someone secretly protects him (my vote is the queen). I believe that his disability in his right hand is actually just due to poisoning. Maybe the neurones in his hand don't work properly from the poison. And since Hwan knows that everyone believes in this course, he developed a phychological illness due to stress. He sees visions with the demon due to severe stress. They'll drive him to madness

Actually it is very complicated. This Chinese drama lost its license for broadcasting when the male protagonist Kris Wu jailed for a serious sexual crime. Fans were desperate to watch the drama and it was said that they'll reshoot all the drama with a different actor. The problem is that since 2021 we have no news about what's happening. Nothing official has been announced and there are only rumours circulating on the internet that they reshoot with an other guy. But nothing official yet. This drama seems to be forgotten in time. I wish it would air because I love Yang Zi but it will still need years and years of editing etc and then they must get a new license again . It's chaos

Oh no, not again...😩 Plus, I pretty much have no interest in that other drama.😓
Personally if the story and the acting are good I don't mind the low budget.
Ten miles of peach blossoms conquered the entire drama-land with amazing plot and rubbish old CGI. Who cares about budget and quality. It's all about the story and the convincing acting

This drama is so similar with the sageuk "Haechi".
The prince and his badass assistant solving crimes together/battling corrupted officials/falling in love in the process.
It's literally the same with non stop deaths and killings (except the curse rumor ). Even the same cinematography and thrillerish vibe 😅

Anyone i wanna ask, is this drama from a novel? Will this drama have a romance thing? Or more like mystery? Thanks
It's based on a Chinese book called "the golden hairpin" which focuses on the female lead solving murders as an eunuch and trying to clear her name from the accusations of killing her family. The Chinese book had minimum romance and it was focused only in the female lead solving the murders . Mainly mystery.
Now about this Korean version, the author said in an interview that they will change the plot of the Chinese novel and that they'll create their own unique story in the process. They won't follow it completely. So that means that they'll probably add more romance and that they will make the story more focused on the male lead along with the female. In the Chinese version the prince had minimum role to play in the plot. Here prince Hwan takes a huge part in the plot already . It's clear that they are already changing things. They'll definitely add more romance but it will still be a mystery/political/investigation. Perhaps more focused on the male lead

I thinkis princess ha yeon if it is true to the chinese version that will be her.
Yeah probably. And instead of being engaged with her from the beginning, they will engage him later on. Who cares. If they follow the Chinese novel, she'll soon be found dead and people for once more will accuse Hwan's course for the incident. She isn't gonna stay around for long 😅

Chinese version ?
Yes. Our blooming youth is based on a Chinese novel called
"The golden hairpin". There is also a Chinese drama "The golden hairpin" since 2020 if I remember correctly and it will air sometime in the future. It should have been aired but it had some legal issues with the protagonist whom commited a crime and got jailed. Therefore they had to reshoot and it still hasn't aired. Thankfully China sold the rights for a Kdrama and .....boom.....there it comes "our blooming youth"

In the (original) Chinese version of this drama the price had a woman betrothed to him (and she later had gone missing and he was looking for her). In this drama so far prince Kwan is not engaged. I guess they erased her character from the plot.
Less competition for Min Jae Yi 😅
I won't complain!
Or maybe it's Princess Ha Yeon whom is referred on the cast above and they will do the engagement on later episodes.😢

Have a look at this trailer. Its 5mins and the 3 last mins are completely new scenes from eps 3-5 .

The romance is indeed a slow burn since in this trailer they didn't add romantic scenes at all.

That was exactly my thought. That he kills all his sons one after another and that in his twisted mind he wishes to remain the king for an eternity. I've seen this in countless Chinese dramas. I can name them one by one. Imagine if that's the case then towards the end of the drama when Hwan and Jae Yi will be deeply in love she will discover the shocking truth that the emperor and Hwan's father murdered all her family. That will be a shock for their relationship. The same happened in "Bloody Heart", 'Heaven's order" and many other sageuks. It will be the same tragic plot 😅

Yeah maybe I judged the king too harshly. Maybe he just wants to protect Hwan. I still feel suspicious about him though. For example in an other Historical drama the king was murdering secretly his own sons one after another simply because he didn't want to give up the thrown despite being old. That drama made me suspicious of all emperors in all Dramaland. When the right counselor accused the king I quickly followed this logic without much questioning 😁

Maybe the queen watches over him. She seems a kindhearted woman . (Probably I'm wrong but anyways. We'll find out for sure).
When the ministers were talking towards the end of the episode and one of them said "It might not be the doing of the right state counselor. None of us knows what his majesty is thinking"
Doesn't that mean that the king might be the culprit?
They kept talking and they revealed that the king must change the prince in order to strengthen his position to the throne. So the emperor is selfish and only cares about himself. 🔥
Poor Hwan was trying to be a good prince and a good son and was desperately trying to move his right hand and the king is rubbish lol

I don't think they gonna use the romance right away. I mean ....she just called him an idiot and he also pressed her head against the wall and tried to choke her out of anger. No woman in Min Jae Yi's place would think...."oh what a sexy guy lets fall for him". I'm sure the writers won't treat the viewers as dumb and that they'll create a slow burn romance.

I'm sure too that Yi Hwan will disguise her to be a eunuch later (ep 3), so she can freely go around the palace…
Yes it was the right decision to make her an eunuch. I just like action and I'd love to see her as his personal guard. But in terms of plot and writing, she must be an eunuch. You're right

I like that prince Hwan is actually very open-minded. He was shocked when he heard the word "jerk" and it surely hurt his pride but he overcame it quickly and finally he gave her a chance to prove herself. He never trusts anyone in the palace . Not even his closest people and therefore he didn't trust Min Jae Yi at the beginning. But he's willing to listen and deep inside he's craving for someone to depend to. He's lonely af and isolated, surrounded by malicious officials and a cruel father. Deep inside he knows he needs someone to depend to.

I would prefer it if she would become a guard and not an eunuch but based on the trailer she's an eunuch.😅 Anyways. She's so smart and so badass that whatever she becomes I'm sure will fit her well
