The thing about episodic dramas is that the quality of episodes usually vary and so I found several cases less…
Me too I also feel sometimes that the point they want to make becomes more important than the 'case' itself leading to plot holes, deus ex machina resolutions and confusing time scales.
The show is worst of its kind and maybe the worst of 2022 in kdrama world. The show circle around same old cringe…
A little harsh but I get your drift "Heroine's trouble is merely a prop and rest of the shenanigans have no logic and full of nonsense." Is a much ruder and combative version of what I was thinking.
I have the exact opposite opinion. I don't like the drama circulating around one case like "Law School".All these…
Sounds like this is perfect for you then. I haven't watched Our Blues because it sounded like a bunch of bite sized stories, thanks for the confirmation. I haven't watched Law School yet either so I can't comment on that. Not sure I will as I'm not really a legal drama fan.
I saw a clip of WYW and was intrigued and thought it was worth a go despite being a legal drama. I'm much more of a romance and character fan so I expected it to be a bit of a battle.
Really enjoyed the first couple of episodes but I'm starting to struggle a bit now. Episodic dramas aren't really my thing I much prefer an overarching story to be the main part of a drama rather than loads of bite size stories. Unfortunately that is the way EAW is playing out, I'm also feeling WYW's character development is a bit too rushed and inconsistent which is a shame as that is really the draw for me in this show. I'll keep watching but I'm already skipping chunks of the court cases. Well worth trying If only for PEBs performance but perhaps for the court room drama buffs more than the romance fans.
That's the beauty of the soul swapping, it's the mystery of it. There's a whole thread of wild theories and its…
Well goodness me you chaps are obviously quite invested in this and have watched much further than I have.
I'm afraid her playing the part of a maid doesn't explain her dumb decisions per se but only when she is actually in the role. It's the dumbness at playing the role that is one of the things that bothers me. I don't mind a bit of moral ambiguity but I do like a 'hero' to root for so I hope they aren't too 'grey'
For me I can put up with all sorts of logical holes and inconsistencies if the characters drag me in, the world mechanics are the backdrop and just have to not jar me out of immersion. I'll give it a few more episodes and see where that gets me (it might be Orange Pekoe or it might be Ceylon or maybe even coffee)
I am terribly pleased that you all enjoy it so much though and I'm glad you enjoy discussing the mechanics of soul shifting and so forth. Thanks for taking the time to respond I appreciate it.
I originally dropped this at episode 2 read your review and gave you an upvote. I started it again recently because I'm running out of drams and I largely forgot about it. I managed to get through to episode 8 this time before I stalled. Came back here reread your review and again thought "she's nailed it" I wish I could upvote it again!
I've managed to get to half way through episode 3 and I'm really not sure. It'll drag me in then drop me back out with a thud. Isn't she supposed to smart as well as powerful? I mean isn't she? Because she acts pretty dumb a lot of the time and seems to find it pretty hard to adapt. Not great qualities for a master assassin. But hey every strong woman needs a man to bail her out. Is he a nice guy or a bad guy? I mean he's totally OK with having a cold blooded murderer as a Master ..so? Are the others bad guys? Oh I don't know! maybe it doesn't matter anyway as long as there are pretty boys, some laughs and cool moments. Not totally getting how this soul swap works either, will she go rogue and start munching on people?
It's a bit more polished and upmarket whilst on the whole staying true to the feel of the original. I think I…
In the Korean one the daughter wins her way in by her inspiring description of her Mother which in turn illuminates the love in their relationship. In the Japanese original the Mother hits herself in the eye with a jar so she can convince the school board she's fleeing an abusive relationship thus avoiding scrutiny.
It's a bit more polished and upmarket whilst on the whole staying true to the feel of the original. I think I was lucky seeing the Japanese original first , it's harsher and more real and harder to watch. I think comparing the way they got the daughter into school sums up the difference between the two quite well.
The third comment below me by @Colum H nailed it to the tee and I would like to add the following. The kids cast…
I actually just slogged through the rest of it - more because of my marvelling at Lee Yu Ri pulling faces than anything else. There's this strange disconnect between her eyes and mouth that makes her look cute as a button and as mad as a box of frogs all at the same time, which I find strangely fascinating.
It maintained it's cringe factor till the end and skirted any sort of redeeming plot line. Never having the guts to properly ring the emotion out of you with any sincerity. If you are a fan of naff 'family' comedies which lurch from erection jokes to schmaltz to tragedy give it a go .
Ooh who shall she end up with Wanker One who who made up a bunch of lies so he could live with her after she lost her memory. Or Wanker Two who treats her (and his fiancé) like shit. Gosh I'm on the edge of my seat.
For me the pacing was off so the intense moments which intrigued and pulled you in were separated by eons of dullness which frankly bored me. Dropped over half way cos I didn't care enough to watch it.
I wasn't massively keen on the ML from the get go but enjoyed the comedy, but now as the FL's twist has been revealed…
Skipped through a couple more episodes but I have no interest in the romance - the whole thing is too creepy for me. I suppose the take away is that she is so radically different in personality that it doesn't matter if she looks exactly like her sister. Unfortunately I didn't care it was just a no from me, I had hoped the trying to transform her into a lady would have held my interest but not enough to put up with the 'romance'. He ran around after her just because she looked like her sister I had no belief that there was any other reason by episode 8 so dropped.
I wasn't massively keen on the ML from the get go but enjoyed the comedy, but now as the FL's twist has been revealed I'm even less enthused by the romance. Neither character coming out of it well so far. The actors are OK though KRW has this I just need to be cute feel to him.
