He is considered as the mastermind or the puppeteer of the drama because of these reasons: 1.) The sought justice for the death of his brother, Nie Mingjue and unraveled all happenings of the past. 2.) He bought back our main lead, Wei Wuxian, by manipulating Mo XuanYu, the boy who sacrificed his body to WWX. 3.) He bought justice, while manipulating Wei Wuxian, to his DaGe, Yanli - the Jiang sister and her husband, Jin Zixuan. 4.) Again, with manipulation, he found proof of the fact that Meng Yao was the one who killed his own father, the fact that he married his own sister and killed his own son who was a product of incest. 5.) He unraveled the truth of the Yi City and the murders that Xue Yang had done and implicitly, he found justice to Song Lan and Xiao XingChen. What makes him really smart is the way he did all of this buy staying in the shadows and manipulating each and every move of Wei Wuxian to make each step accordingly to his plan, and all of this to make Meng Yao suffer. I would recommend to watch Fatal Journey, a movie that happens after WWX's death and until his resurrection. A very heavily complex character that even the author of the novel said that if there would have been a new Chef Cultivator, then she would have chosen Huaisang:)

Anyone who knows any good reliable news about the production yet? My Chinese translated webpages don't help too much:))) And although I know that covid slowed down a lot the production of most dramas, I also know that China tends to drop all of the sudden dramas anytime with not news or promotions whatsoever:)) Like what happened with The Untamed ( no ads, no nothing, until suddenly 12 hr prior they posted the trailer and poster and BANG! Episodes released later that day:)))) Really excited about HOB and hope it will do the novel justice! Manhua is gorgeous and cannot wait for new releases in July also! I would say that the actor for Hua Cheng will be the hardest especially since he will portray San Lang appearance also, so he needs to be able to look both younger and mature at the same time. Ohhh and Wind Master!! With double gender!!:)) I would bet that censorship will make him more female than male but I have my hopes us!

I cannot speak for others, but for me, this drama is pure feels. The cinematography, in my opinion, brings nostalgia and a raw feeling of how opera singers suffered in that time period. The slice of life genre is truly refreshing for me, considering how many dramas nowadays are only fantasy and school love stories. I admit that if i was younger( when my main genres were fantasy and the like), maybe i wouldn't have enjoyed the drama as much as i do now. If by episode 9 you weren't dragged into the story line, then it just isn't resonating with you and your tastes.

There isn't because the novel doesn't exists:) This drama was made from scratch, not adapted from any novel.

The drama had its own ending while the novel has another. In the novel, they don't split apart; they remain together and do what fans like to say : dual cultivation haha:D aka they sleep together. In the drama, it's slightly different. It's mostly based on our perception; I would say that they met after some time after splitting apart since Lan Wangji was made Chef Cultivator and he needed to do his duties since the cultivation world was slightly in chaos after Meng Yao died, while in the novel, there wasn't a new Chef chosen( but the author said that she would have made Huaisang the new leader).

This is on the Upcoming drama list of Iqiqi for quite some time. Apparently it should have aired in 2019 already. Most likely it will appear before the summer ends, hopefully even beginning of June

Usually i try to watch more before dropping a drama but unfortunately, I see myself putting this on Drop folder after watching only 12 episodes..Don't know why but it's not very much feeling in the drama. Like, acting wise and plot story. I really like Su Tang's character and love Arthur but he might not have been the best choice for this drama; that, or it's simply the storyline for his character that bothers me. It's just that whenever something big is happening, I don't see many emotions being given from him on certain scenes. Music and production value it's ok, good for a wuxia drama.

It's been some time since i watched a detective drama so refreshing! All characters fit their roles very good! The cases were very well described, with many details (haha the actor of Lu Yao must have had a hell of a time memorizing the script:))) For the 1st time, I wouldn't have minded more episodes with more cases! Usually I hate romances because of the main female characters that tend to be weak, but Bai Youning was cute, feminine and strong also! A perfect amount of romance.Would love a season 2! The bromance was there also, very well budgeted drama from the looks of it and worth a rewatch. Hope to see more dramas like this one. The only negative that i have is the english parts..Chinese dubbing voice over is ok,.but the English voice over have always seemed weird haha.

HOB is actually more popular in china that MDZS(The Untamed), so, unless they ruin the characters with heterosexual romance or make a mistake in cast, I would saw that it will go well:)

Just passing by here since I haven't been on The Untamed page for awhile, but, neither in the novel nor in the drama do we see Huaisang telling Mo XuanYu about summoning WWX. It is heavily implied tho that Huaisang did meddle into this, but it's all supposition.(let's remember that WWX said at one point that he doesn't remember how it was being dead and his spirit couldn't be summoned.So his soul must have been somewhere..in some spirit trapping pouch maybe). The author of the novel also didn't mention this in any of her interviews. I guess it's probably because she wanted to keep Huaisang in the section of morally grey characters that might or might have not caused the dead of an innocent with his own hand (because technically he only caused the death of corrupt people: Mo family, Xue Yang, and endangered others).

I'll start with saying that Dong-er started of as a nice character and ended up almost being hated by me due to her voice that was so annoying. The romance with Aha, that everyone was pissed about, was nonexistent, and her close friendship with Tang Fan, helped him make a friend and ally in Wuyun who helps a lot in the last few episodes. Consort Wan was great! Emperor seems weak in comparison :)) but still lovable, I would say. HP for all 3 main characters and it is worth re-watching from time to time when you get bored and have nothing else to watch . If you still wonder whenever to watch this or not, do it if you enjoy: humor, some detective skills, likable characters, bromance between a trio, politics and cross dressing( haha, yep, didn't forgot about that - Lovable lady Tang Fan haha). JC did pretty decent with this drama!

It's not. It's not adapted from any novel at all, never mind BL.This drama had a script made specially for drama adaptation. The rumor was spread due to various BL fans that think that all chinese dramas are adapted from novel.

Just a personal opinion here from me is to NOT start with The Untamed! The Untamed has many..MANY details that are easier to understand if you have already read the novel. And, has many key stuff that kdramas don't, more specifically, the cultivation stuff ( you might not be able to fully enjoy it if you have never watched a wuxia/xianxia genre before. As a kdrama fan, I started off with Nirvana in Fire , a fantasy/historical/political/revenge orientated chdrama ,and from there, I moved on with other fantasy ch dramas:)
