Is it overrated or does it deserve the hype? Be honest without going into too much detail!I've noticed that dramas…
When you reach episode 6 and the boredom make you want to drop it...
... yes clearly overated.
Part2 is the best, about backstories, because there are emotions.
Part3, not much story, spectacular action. It's ok, but lack something.

Title Moving
anyone noticed Moving is the only drama rated 9.2 on MDL
Clearly overated. I'm ok that production and directing are great, but not the story.

>slap on the face. I don't mind spoilers, what do you mean by this?
Plus, I'm not agree, it's really not one of his first drama. Look at the number of dramas the writer already did, looks at the number of episodes. Here I'm lazy to make the addition, but more than 200h of screentime experience. Translate that time in 100 movies for equivalence. Or less, if you consider a movie script gets more rework. Then, the problem could be too much, but I guess he had a lot of stuff ready in older idea files, maybe many years ago.

It's not the main point in a story like this. It's just plot. Take Dr Romantic. I find the writing brillant. Probably more character oriented. In and out of situations about emotional changes or life lessons. I was well aware during the watching that more than half of situations (or medical urgencies) where build as plot-device. A few ones are even wobbly. Does it matter so much?

Yeah, but anyway, before watching just look at the cover, the date of the drama. I mean, you know where you enter.…
Ok, I precise, when I say "the cover", it's not litteraly. Just the reality of korean television during this era, with crazy schedule, and difficult working conditions. As for older dramas, I'm curious to watch some, but sadly, it's impossible to find them on internet. I could only get Sandglass and Eye of dawn.

It's not a drama you binge-watch, expecting to be hooked and get emotional rollercoaster.
It's more a confort drama with the power to make you sleepy.
Enjoyable to watch one episode in your bed, before to shut-off the light and sleep.

Let's see... the screenwriter who wrote Jumong, All In, IRIS, and dozen of other dramas is lazy? Are you aware of the amount of work and headhaches it needs to create the kind of human interactions there are in this drama? So each scene is a moment we enjoy for the truth and subtext coming from it.

is there chemistry early on and throughout the entire drama? and just how brief is the romance?
The love story is already good in first part. The magic moment when the guy fall in love... this scene is so true. But most of the moments feel true too.
I don't use the word chemistry because it means nothing. Mostly the writing work, and talentuous actors make the first part a believable starting love story. Like you'd dream to live. But second part, gosh... it's beyond, you get the nature of a true love situation. Here you feel like you are living it.

Goddamn that was a top tier slap on the face. The biggest highlight in the drama! Anyway, both ML and FL had a…
Yeah, but anyway, before watching just look at the cover, the date of the drama. I mean, you know where you enter. You know before watching there will be inconsistencies, lower budget making imprecisions, and lack of time to refine it to the max. Once we know that, we can enjoy fully and concentrate on the love story. When you see a donkey, you don't ask it to win a horse race, you ask it to do what a donkey does best.
Now compare with other dramas from this time, let's say Spring Waltz. Not bad but many annoying moments, slowdown and clichés, and a romance steps behind about authenticity.

Title Love Story in Harvard Spoiler
>slap on the face. I don't mind spoilers, what do you mean by this?
The reason is she wanted to do all this humanitarian stuff around the world. Like mother Theresa. An incredibly naive girl, as the association she was working for are complete crook. I liked a lot the irony. But for the love story, it shows also she was immature. I don't remember what you say about she was fearing to engage, but it's possible. I need to rewatch the drama.

I find strange the rating is so lower than Penthouse. Because the two dramas are more close in quality. And it's the first drama of Kim Soon Ok going fully crack-makjang, assumed auto-parody, crazyness, with high-quality directing and lot of hitting power (thanks to background musics and directing).

That's make me think... I had doubt quickly in first episodes. But at one point there is another important event. So I can't say more, it's a spoiler. But it changes the path of the story. You can expect strong emotional scenes in the last part and a wonderful last episode.

Thing I didn't like: some investigations about serial killers. People find that exciting, but for me it's a slowdown. I liked a lot this drama, but as a generality, I don't like police shows, or psycho-killers stories.

I'm agree it's useless to say it "recreate" Penthouse. It's just the writer style, and Last Empress was the same kind. Just, I find it usefull to compare some points between the dramas, to know the writer evolution, what she does better, what is not so good.
