Still, in this list, my first vote was for W. The FL isn't really smart about a lot of things, while the ML is smart is in a super-human way, and we really feel it during the drama. It's quite normal, as he's a manhwa character with super-will, super-intelligence and super-intuition. HOWEVER...... when it comes to manhwa, the FL is as smart as the ML !! She discover tons of things, is able to understand it, to do something with that. Can guess what guess the ML at the same time. Can understand anything say the ML (and sometimes it's quite crazy). Finally save the life of the ML far more than the reverse. Really great intelligence, but mostly about manhwa or supernatural phenomena.
Obviously. Even if about Queen Seon Deak, I would rather give the Female antagonist. ;-)
In the end, yeah, the heroïn is the smartest. But well... I like the actress in other dramas, but here, she lack charisma. At first, I think it's normal because she start low, but after... I couldn't get that. So I prefer Lady Mishill, the actress is so impressive and also, the kind of beauty I like. Of course, it would be useless to fall in love for her, she has a stone heart. ^^ I prefer the actress when child. So good. (and smart too!) Then this actress made some other drama once adult. Suspicious partners for example. She was good actress in this.

I just ended final episode. Woo. The emotion was higher than what I excepted. So, it was a makjang drama with a naturalistic touch. Last episodes are very good.

I'm busy and lack time, but maybe one day, I should write an article on MyDramaList about korean screenplay. Many people write fan-fictions and I think it's a very good way to do it, because it's easy to read. And I find that less boring than the novel style (past tense and blah blah blah).

Yes, I think a writer or anyone doing art (more precisely drawing and comics book) should like it. I have done both in my life! It needs also a taste for mind-blowing content. So I wrote the season 2 of this drama, maybe you could be interested. It's on my blog, just check my profile here, there is a link. Just: it isn't novel but screenplay, that change a lot of things about the writing style. There is true genious in W. Quite a brainy story, with a lot of cause and effects. Nothing is left on the way, and most of the time, we have answer, clues, or consequences from a past event, even small ones. Just an example: the nurse trying to kill Kang Chul. This situation isn't put under the carpet, and later, episode 4, we learn what hapenned to the nurse after that, so Kang Chul can make deduction about this strange case.

Well, we have to accept the masterpiece is as it is! For the worst or the better. It's almost impossible to say if a change X or Y could have lead to a better script. I'm not sure about anything.
As you mention it, I often thinked about the "Kang Chul recover his memory". What would need a twist like: Yeon Joo draw on the tablet a scene where Kang Chul remember. Just that was enough. So, technicaly, it was possible. But at the time of the story it was possible (should be episode 13), it wasn't really necessary anymore.
When the screenwriter published her screenplay, she was proposing people to play with it. I don't know if someone made a modification with that plot. Of course it's not easy if we want to do it really! It needs to write the scene, remove some others scenes, and modify what's coming next in the whole screenplay.

Yes! Of course, you are right about that. We even have a good example of this in episode 9: when Do-Yoon ask to Kang Chul about the mysterious woman looking at him (Yeon Joo). And he says "maybe one of your ex girlfriend you forgot". So the myth of "playboy" action hero is a core basic of the character, like a cliche. However, it's just blah blah. In a script we can say someone is X or Y but it don't have any value or reality as long as there is no action about that. It's the case about Kang Chul. It's what the character is supposed to be, but as the author also banished that, there wasn't any real scene about that in the manhwa (Kang Chul with some girlfriends). It's just words. Then in the "real" W universe, we have the real facts: Kang Chul didn't have any experience with women. Words don't matter, it need pictures (in a manhwa).

At episode 2 ending, Sung-Moo assistant says she don't understand what happens to the story because the author Sung-Moo banished any romantic storyline in the manhwa, and suddenly there is a kiss! (because of Yeon-Joo!!). Kang Chul know nothing about women and isn't even able to say if a woman is beautiful or not. That's why later (episode 7), he have to study a book about how to please women!! (but he learn fast, lol).
Amazing support actors: if you know a bit the writers, they try to hire a bunch of actors, often the same. - Kim Jung Hyun, a real good actor, already the ML younger in Sandglass, with an amazing role in Giant, and here in Empress Ki. - Yang Hyung Wook. This guy is almost an non-actor, he never shooted in any other drama than the writer's ones. We can't forget how much he was funny in Incarnation of money. But we saw him too in Vagabond. Here, he's the room chief in the prison (and maybe the mouse???).
