Xu SiJie and brother Jin are two of my favorite characters. They both had a pretty awesome relationship with Shi Yi niang. The two confrontation scenes of ShiYiniang with both of them are some of the best scenes in the novel. When SiJie is investigating his birth and ShiYi niang told Xu SiJie....You are my son and no one can take you away from me. And Shi Yi niang and brother Jin's confrontation in the rain....I cried buckets.
I also hope they don't skip brother Jin's and SiJie's story arcs. From the looks of it in the bts teaser they might have changed their ages...made them older during their important scenes.

Sorry to say they are university students in this one too. It says up there in the synopsis, Porsche is a student. Not sure if they are in engineering or not but both are in the same uni.

I found another synopsis of the drama on baidu. And its quite different from the one above. I don't know which one is the actual one for the drama. Anyways, I google translated it and here goes.....

Found this behind the scene look from the drama. Production looks good. No loud color's or over grand sets for the Xu mansion. From the scenes they showed the actors filming, they have changed a lot of things but that was expected. One change I was glad to see was XLY and 11 niang going out on a date...I guess you can call it. Also they kept in drunk XLY..hehe poor 11 niang.

Ram looses his brain cells after King confesses to him(actually he asks Ram if he can flirt with him as a start). He allows King to flirt with him but forbids King to tell anyone about it. So its like an open relationship where they are just flirting and Ram can flirt with anyone else that he likes. Then to make King jealous
Ram fakes kissing and sleeping with other girls.
It gets worse after they get back together....which for me felt like King forgave too easily.

I wss actually waiting for Triage to be produced first as there were rumors of it since 2 years back. Its also from the author of Manner of death. Both leads in that one are nice too and story is also unique. The main lead an er doctor couldn't save a patient, the other lead guy, and keeps living the same day over and over again in a time loop. The complete translation is on wattpad.

Thats why I keep coming back to Japanese bls. They are such a refreshing change after thai ones. And acting is also usually better. Its a pity they dont make that many bl dramas anymore.

I'm kind of hoping My ride the series will shake things up in thai bl industry. From what I've read from the free chapters, Mork is pretty nice guy. And Dr Tawan too. But we never know with thai writers. I was so into RamKing in My engineer but after I read the book, Rams character was completely ruined for me.

Can we get thai bl writers to see this and do an indepth study of Kurosawa's character....so that we can finally get some gentlemen leads in thai bls.
Completely in love with Kurosawa and his consideration for Adachi and Adachi is adorable.

Ok some more spoilers just for you.
XuLingYi has 3 concubines (4 later. But XYL stops sleeping with them after he falls for 11 niang) so there is some concubine drama. But our girl is pretty smart and knows how to keep them in check. She even got one of the concubines to become her follower. Concubine Wen had a daughter who she gave up to XLYs mother to raise. After 11 niang came she treated the daughter very nicely and won over the daughters love. She even made great efforts to find a good husband for her. This way she won over concubine Wen too.
XuLingYis wife Yuan niang was eldest daughter of the Luo family. 11 niang was her concubine born sister. When Yuan niang knew she was not going to live for long she started looking for a second wife for her husband among her sisters. 11 niang realized that shes been shortlisted but she was powerless to avoid it or reject it. Yuan niang wanted her son to be named the heir which XLY was not ready to do. So She manipulated the situation where her husband is caught with another woman by 11 niang and herself during a house party. So to avoid a scandal, XLY will have to agree to marry 11 niang....and make that other girl his concubine. We come to know later that XLY was actually impressed by 11 niangs presence of mind during that stressful period....in the way she diverted other people from coming onto that scene.
Later on, after they are married he realized 11niangs brain can rival any general on the field with the way she can visualize all the pros and cons of every action and situation. He then started confiding his troubles with 11 niang.

Another bit of spoiler...11 niang doesn't have a name... she is just called 11 niang by everybody coz she was the 11th child born in the Luo family. As she was concubine born no one gave her an actual name. After her marriage she was called 4th madam of the Xu family...as XLY is the 4th son.
I have no idea how much story from the novel will be followed in the drama. Hopefully they won't add nonsensical misunderstandings between the leads. Both leads are very calm and sensible people. It would be very out of character for them to misunderstand or mistrust each others feelings.

Unfortunately no one is translating it. Maybe it'll
get picked up after more people know about it when they start promoting the drama. They are still filming it right now.

Just finished reading the novel on Google translate. I must admit its very similar to Concubines daughter Minglan. Big difference is 11 niang marries XuLingYi pretty early on in the novel so we spend more time with Xu family than the Luo family.

Most of the people in Xu family are nice. In the novel there is not much family politics and stuff. No one tried to create misunderstanding between the leads. Because 11 niangs elder sister, MLs first wife forced her husband to marry her sister after her death, 11 niang had to work hard to earn the trust and respect of her husband and mother-in-law. But because she was very kind and sincere from the start everyone could see her goodness and grew close to her after a while.

Does anyone know what changes they made to the story from the novel? I don't see the cast for the MLs sons....2nd brother, 4th brother, 5th brother and 6th brother. Removing 2nd brother and his entire track might work as he was not in the story that much. But his younger siblings 4th, 5th and 6th brothers all have important story tracks throughtout the novel especially 5th and 6th brother. 5th brothers story and his love for 11 niang...6th brother and the changes he goes through from spoiled and arrogant to a responsible and considerate son were some of my favorites parts of the novel.

Each son of the ML has a pretty significant growth arc....which will reqire good actors in the age range of 6-12 years...and thats why I'm afraid they'll change a lot of stuff involving the kids storylines.
Wallace is perfect for the role of XuLingiYi....he'll do XLYs calm and silently strong thing splendidly. I think they have changed the story because of him to show him fighting in the war later on. In the novel, its the 6th brother, his son who goes to war. We just hear about XLYs exploits in the war and how he became a general and a Duke at a young age. Most of the novel we see him do everything in his power to stay out of limelight so as to avoid getting targeted by political enemies and the emperor....to keep his family safe.

I agree. Ban Hua was such a refreshing FL. Indifferent to the societal norms and doing her own thing....so different from her image, that she presents to the outside world. This author, Yue Xia Die Ying, usually writes awesome female leads.
Also, every scene with the whole Ban family together was so funny and heartwarming to read.....when in most chinese novels FL's have such horrible families. That's the another thing I love about this author is that she writes such loving families for the female lead. Even though in To be a virtuous wife, QuQingJu didn't have a nice family, her maternal family's love and care made up for her shitty father.
When I found this author I was so delighted with her style that I never wanted anyone to adapt her works. Because chinese dramas usually like to add unnecessary drama to sensationalize the story and this author mostly writes less dramatic.... more slow burn romance with a bunch of amazing side characters and with a bit historical background. Even the palace drama scenes are so elegantly done.
Hoping and praying, they don't ruin the tone of story.

Ban Hua told her parents and her brother about her dream and that their family will face ruin in five years and all they could think was to hide all their gold and silver in the forest. Funniest part was every time they go to the forest to hid the gold they get interrupted by the male lead Rong Xia. And they don't even find it weird as to what he was doing in the forest in the middle of the night. And when they do question him...his answer that 'He came to admire the moon' or something to that effect.... didn't seem at all suspicious to them coz Rong Xia was a famous(nerdy) scholar...and they usually go gaga over poetic atmosphere and stuff.
Second time she had a dream was even funnier...she saw herself die on the street and in the dream someone she couldn't see (the main lead) came up to her body and expressed pity then took off his white fur coat to cover her corpse. When she woke up first thing she does is ask her servants to buy all the white fur in the city because she remembered it looked so pretty on her. LMAO.
Another reason to like the novel for me was that the female lead did the courting. She dropped main lead home..she gave him expensive gifts....she called him beautiful....she kissed him first...
Hope they will keep the tone similar to the novel.....and keep the unnecessary drama limited.

Never knew they were going to adapt this novel. Its one of my favorite authors works. She writes such kickass female leads. This one in particular was more funny and quirky. Ban Hua's family is such a blast.
