I watched AOL when it was airing and liked it a lot. If I have to find fault, it would be the lack of screen time…
What I loved about her crying scenes; they were not over the top or had to match the sad playing OST.
They were natural, simple and relatable. Sometimes, one does not need to show an extravagant display of emotions in order to fully connect with the audience.

It is really a matter of preference. I was never, never, never a fan of Crystal Yuan but I have to say that she completely outshined YZ in Love and Redemption. Same goes for Cheng Yi. To me, he completely outshined Allen Deng in LAR. The Phoenix’s character could have been easily portrayed by any good actor out there. However, I really can’t picture anyone else portraying Si Feng but Cheng Yi.
Although they have many similarities, they are very different. Love story in AoL is rather sudden. IMO, the touching…
Strange thing... I never liked that distinctive dubbing voice on Dilraba; however, I truly loved it on Crystal.
I think that has to do with the context and also the character, themselves. Some characters and their dubbing voices just do not match. Unfortunately, it seems there is a lack of standard Mandarin dubbed actors and actresses in China.
With 70 episodes, I think there might be more flashbacks of Xi Xuan and GOW’s relationship in the heavenly realm.…
Oh that is why I like Xianxia dramas better than Wuxia dramas. Their kissing scenes and their romance scenes are so much more better and so much more realistic.

I am so impressed that Crystal Yuan was able to portray that character so beautifully. The evolution of nuances in her character was so well acted and well directed. - From a childlike innocent teenager girl - To a more juvenile adolescent girl - To a young female with insecurities - To a mature and accomplished female lead who still retains that beautiful tenderness from her earlier years.
For the past few years now, her acting has been described as frigid, lifeless and unmemorable. Well, Crystal Yuan has improved beyond imagination.
Yea, Love and Redemption has more similarities to Ashes of Love with a FL being someone who can't understand love…
I actually love this one better than Aches of Love. Even though, it is a Xianxia drama; it feels more believable. Maybe, because of everyone’s collective acting skills are so damn good.
Even the last Azura with his fewer scenes had a very believable performance. The BL was definitely there...
I haven't seen any of Crystal Yuan or Cheng Yi's works before this. I was definitely impressed by their acting…
Cheng Yi has always been a good actor. But I think that Si Feng’s character was specially made for him. Sometimes, actors and actresses are lucky enough to play a role that defines them. Cheng Yi is Si Feng...
Hands down, one of the very few best dramas of 2020: - Joy of Life - Cross Fire - Love and Redemption
FYI: I can not believe how good; Crystal Yuan has become. Her new and improved acting skills are lights away from her days in Ever Night and Listening Snow Tower. For me, this is her best acting performance yet. She always had difficulty conveying her characters’ emotions. However finally, in this Xianxia drama, she did a damn good job... Ironically, her character is lacking her 6 senses. As for Cheng Yi, He looks even better now than in his younger years in Noble Aspiration. The years just didn’t affect him at all. What the hell is his secret? The production crew could not have selected a better actor than him for the male lead role of Si Feng. His whole performance was pure perfection.
Ditto. Because of Cross Fire, I tried The King’s Avatar and Gunk Your Heart. However, they are not even remotely…
Fights Break Sphere was nice. I really wanted a sequel with Leo Wu but with the whole discord between him and Tencent; I don’t think that will ever be on the table again. Fights Break Sphere was directed for a more younger demography. It is not in any shape or form close to Nirvana In Fire season 1; or even to NIF season 2. Ironically, I read that Leo Wu had recommended Liu Haoran from NIF 2 to replace him in Fights Break Sphere season 2. Actually, I do approve that recommendation.

If you have watched Nirvana In Fire season 1 and you enjoy intelligent and captivating historical dramas... Then, you are in for a treat with Joy Of Life season 1.
Maybe they both were going through their tribulations as well...
They were natural, simple and relatable. Sometimes, one does not need to show an extravagant display of emotions in order to fully connect with the audience.

“You take one more step and I will kill you”
Good grief, there was venom coming out of her glare...
Their kissing scenes and their romance scenes are so much more better and so much more realistic.
That voice was juvenile but not irritating as for most female leads’ dubbing voices.

Why one needs a mouth for...
Hahaha:)

Every single word is true.
3 dramas of 2020 that completely satisfied me and I fully enjoyed every second of them are:
- Joy Of Life
- Cross Fire
- Love and Redemption
Because of Cross Fire, I tried The King’s Avatar and Gunk Your Heart.
However, they are not even remotely close to Cross Fire.
Xuxu:)
Indeed, Lu Han surprised me too. He was legit in that role!!!
He is no longer that “Chinese Flower Boy” from EXO. That is sure....
And Leo Wu... Well...
He is a gift that keeps on giving....
