Title The Shipper Spoiler
No F-ing tragedy tag in the genre list...
This series pissed me off, I like the twists and turns but the entire series felt off to me.
They managed to make a story about an important and natural event that we all must face at the end of our life (death), but they tried to approach the subject through comedy and romance...
The entire action of the story is started because the grim ripper makes a mistake and does not want to own up to it, then jokes around... and it rapidly changes into a tragedy when one of the innocent young characters ends up dead... Basically someone paid with their life someone else's mistake.
To top it off, the tragedy is well felt when the viewer realizes that the love confession never actually happened (BL confession was too late), plus the only romantic interaction they made with the BL kiss was an incest kiss... It can't get worst... All in all the good parts were always shadowed by bad decisions in writing, I could not enjoy the story because parts of it were just wrong.
As for the 2 girls, they grow, but they start out as someone that fetishizes BL content, so I could not like their motives at the beginning...

This does not happen only in drama world, I came to realize that in real life it's the same all the time, people just tend to shove their view s of people onto them... It's not about " what you think" and "what you said", "it's about what people think you think and what people think you said" they just then to put words in your mouth and interpret everything through their dump filter.

Loved this series, but it was too short :) Because the world seemed so interesting I would have liked to learn and see more details about it. They showed a lot of superstitions and kind of like shamanism and similar stuff and I would have liked to explore that to learn about these beliefs from these interesting cultures. Also, I would have liked to see hell and heaven in more detail, and know about the characters from there a little more. The costumes and colors were beautiful. I know that this was a collaborative production between Taiwan and Malaysia and it turned out breathtaking, hope I will see more project like this :)

I would say it's true but not for The Untamed :)) This series is a BL just like the book, for people that read it they can see the easter eggs and hidden parts, because of the censorship they could not show us head-on or tell us directly that the 2 are a couple, instead they opted to show us by important messages in the story and special time given to certain scenes (such as the 3 times bowing scene, as in wedding ceremonies and so on).
This series had a BL project t root and it became a BL project but it was almost something else, because of the censorship, the inexperienced crew behind the camera and the low budget, the first script was supposed to change the main leads, at first Wei Wu Xian and Wen Qing were supposed to be the main couple ( and there is even leaked behind the scene clips of them kissing), after this info leaked the fans "attacked" the production with emails and comments and changed the project to be faithful to the original source a BL.
All cast is young and new (this was their first important role), making this project their breakthrough project, before this, they were not this famous and not taken seriously, and no one knew or ever imagine that this project is gold.
For this project, because of the characters, they needed to have a big number of young guys, the reason it was so successful it was not because of the guys, the fan base was already existent because of the book, people loved the story, Iove it too :)
All the twists and the turns and the hidden plans make this story so good <3 The good looking guys and the chemistry is a bonus.

Review The King: Eternal Monarch Spoiler
I kind of think the same except Lee Min Ho's character being able to be "a type of mafia boss".
Thinking about the background, he comes from a Korea that was a kingdom/empire always, so the old ways are engraved in his character way more than a modern kingdom would be, and as in any ruling era, the king/emperor does feel on his shoulder the heaviness of the throne. He learns this very fast as he witnesses something horrible in the first episode and he has the courage to fight back. We see him change from a kid that does not like veggies, into a King by taking the responsibility and learning nonstop (it's not only about his intelligence, but about his character). The events that he went through and he saw, that one second, marked him and morphed him into a King. We also know that great leaders and even businessmen have psychopathic tendencies, they are very capable of being charismatic but in reality, they are smart, calculating, and some borderline cruel and they don't bet an eye.
So if he survived from a kid in charge, and was able to stay on top of people attempting to take his power and even life 100% he was ruling his kingdom with a hand of iron, he must have been like a "mafia boss" in some situations (the job actually asks for it, since it's about his and his kingdom's survival and well being).

Yes :) At the begging we get to see the story as outsiders but after he remembers who he is we get to see the roots and why he behaved that way, we also hear him talk for the first time about how he was affected by all the people in his life and then we get to see through the interactions how his wife and dad see him. Unfortunately they both seem to be using him to satisfy their own selfishness, the wife is obsessive about him because the marriage was decided by the dad (not from love) and the dad treated him like a puppet; living a second life through him (as parents usually give children unconditional love and they never expect anything in return, this "father" expected the kid to do everything he wanted him to do, as payback, he literally made the main guy feel like he owes him/ is indebted because he was adopted- that's horrible).
For this reasons I felt the main guy never actually trusted or knew how a true family is and he only learned about unconditional love after he met the main lady (that is why he chose her, because he did not need to use that defensive mask with her family and because he was accepted truly even at his worst by her-true love).

Title Haeundae Lovers Spoiler
In my opinion this is an underrated drama but I can also see why it is that way. I won't give any spoilers beyond…
One thing that this drama has good is the way they tell the story, the twist that happens after he regains the memory literally shifts the entire set up that was done in the first half of the drama and nullifies it... and it's beautiful, people have to be attentive at how things are presented, in otherwise, there is nothing new; even the old amnesia plot is used... :)
To explain in detail what I mean, at the start of the series we have the lead man, the adopted son of a wealthy man, a married guy to a beautiful and successful designer, and an exceptional prosecutor all in all a truly accomplished person that was blessed with a good life.
With all this he is presented to us as someone quite ungrateful in a way, he sees himself as someone good, while we see him as someone that prioritizes his job over everything else, lying to people, having a paranoid personality, endangering lives, being negligent in his marriage even when his wife is sick, has no emotional attachments and he has some severe daddy issues. (as the comment above mentioned).
After he loses his memories and finally gets a taste of how a simple family lives his outlook on life changes. In episode 12 when he regains his memory it's when we actually learn the truth about how he is as a human being, this is the twist that I was talking about when all that we learned about him (the entire set up of the character) is shown as a superficial judgment on our part (like we did not know the character good enough) as we never knew his motives before (making his actions justifiable).
The acting is good but unfortunately for me, the chemistry between the leads was not existent, also the character of the girl was a bit annoying for me (I don't like girls characters that are portrayed as stupid)... The first episodes were slow but after a few episodes everything became more interesting, in the end, the project it's ok but it's not my favorite

Title Nana 2
I was hoping for a different ending than the anime as the manga continued. None the less this NANA anime or movie…
I don't think this was the ending I think there was supposed to be a third movie , but since the anime does not have an ending and neither does the manga they just left the story like this, the manga has 21 volumes but it's on hiatus... The mangaka got very sick and hospitalized while working on it and was on a long period without working so basically her work got canceled she took up other projects after :(( So the story stops randomly and that is it.

You started with the wrong project :)) Paradise Kiss is a low budget project and does not do justice to the manga and the anime :)

Thought the same thing as you! In the anime/manga they are students but somehow they have quite good looking products that look expensive... even the small boutique looks vintage but fancy (the clothes even more). I think this movie was low budget compared to NANA and it was made to get more money from the success of NANA.
I know of 3 main mangas made by the same mangaka Ai Yazawa that seam to be in the same Universe they were all successful but "Neighborhood Story" and "Paradise Kiss" were short 7/5 volumes but the third "NaNa" has 21 volumes and it's on hiatus (was never finished). NANA was the first project that had insane fallowing and has 2 movies, they made Paradise Kiss after (the quality between them is huge), even though the anime and manga are both breathtaking.

You are right in a way, in classical western storytelling the bad guy and the people that helped him get punished. What goes around comes around, so in the end, the universe will collect. But if we speak realistically this payment can be collected way later, the payback it's not always instant.

Title Hanaoni 3 Spoiler

Well, that is how it happened in the movie because they literally cut out any background story or character development (low budget), but basically she is very damaged. All her life she was attacked, bullied, and continuously almost raped for 16 years (kaki's plan was for her to die before she gets to be 16 years old)...
So she does not speck she has PTSD and has no friends, yet she is a gentle soul, Kaki is the only one she talks to and obviously the 3 wings and the other 2 brides (because they are in the same position she is in). The 3 wings were not after her, they marked her for protection Kaki would have a big problem if he would have killed her after being marked by other demons.

If one wanted to watch these 3 movies in as much "chronological order" as possible... should one start with 3,…
1 is the first chronologically then 2. 3 is basically the same as 1 but from another character's point of view so it has extra scenes as it's her story included in the first movie... Does it make sense? So you can watch them as 1,2 ,3 and it will be ok, or 1,3 and then 2 , it's ok as well.

the reason why the 3 movies lost so much potential is because we need more romantic and fluff content from the…
Not only, I mean they kept them so much apart from each other it's hard to even feel the chemistry, the story was rushed so any background story and character development was cut, the fight scenes could have been epic instead it just ended up looking lame (for demon fights) and because of the extra low budget the effects were nonexistent. In the manga he changes form there is more action nothing was shown in any of the movies, so they look like human characters pretending to be demons cosplay or something. I relay wanted this to be made well, it would have been the Japanese version of monster/human romance, like how in the west they have all the teen/supernatural romance projects ( like Twilight, but better if they would have had the money)

I guess that people have affection for this because of the manga, etc., but this was one bad movie. Bad plot,…
The story is not bad, but they low budget made the movie adaptation, rushed so the story just does not come across well. I actually want to read the full manga for details not random parts that I found, but don't know where to get the complete work in English :(( This would have had potential but yes the low budget kind of killed it... in term of quality. For people that like stories with demons this could be something that attracts them but it's disappointing...

Title Youth Spoiler
What can I say, I like this version more than the original, it rarely happens.
I liked the actors in the Korean version, they do a good job in other projects but for AOY some of their portrayals I hated. In this version, on the other hand, the acting and the way they decided to present the characters match perfectly, it feels natural overall in the Korean one it did not.
Also in the Korean version, the interview part ruined the pacing of the story in a way, because sometimes it contradicted the actions of the characters in the story, this made some people misunderstand some characters.
As we all know the story already, we know that there are characters the suffer from PTSD, have paranoia, and are a bit delusional (as an outcome of their experiences) and in the Korean version, this was portrayed sometimes as misunderstandings... (they did not approach and address these symptoms accurately, of they did not research enough to know how to translate them on the screen).
The second season managed to ruin some of the characters completely.
In this version they did a better job at the storytelling, integrating the characters, and being constant with the small details that impacted the story. If they would do a second season copying the Korean one I would not like it... they should keep all the cast of this season and do their own vision of a second season.
