Mixed feelings about this. I do like the direction the plot is taking (I'm always down for some social-commentary,…
Totally agree. Akk's characterization in ep1 suffers from this heavy-handed narrative. He came off as a guy that only recites and upholds the rules. He focused to hard on the new kid that doesn't fit the mold. I believe you can adhere to rules and order without acting like a mindless underling. What you said about Not Me is one of the reasons I didn't like the series. No matter how much I tried I found the constant moralization boring.
Characters need to tell each other what viewers already witnessed bc we are just viewers, not part of the plot.…
You can start the scene with the friend saying "I understand you're sad because X told you this but I think...". There are many ways to imply characters had a conversation, we don't need a play by play for everything. If it doesn't bring new information or progress the narrative we don't always need to watch the same set-up of friends telling each other what happened previously. The screen time should be used for something else. That's basic Writing 101.
There are too many scenes where the characters tell their friends what viewers has already witnessed; MekKim is a mess thanks to the cliché conflicts they added out of nowhere. 12 episodes is too long for this drama; 8 episodes would have been better.
I cannot, it's so cute! My guilty pleasure right now. I like XQ's dynamics. It's quite obvious in ep 2 that X is flirting with Q; Q is starting to notice it but of course he's going to gay panic. What's the deal with Q's mom? Her brother is gay and she accepts him but she's not that ok when it comes to her son? Or did I miss something? Is it me or Bever (X) looks like a young Billy (Secret Crush On You)?
i have been waiting for this but the first episode was messy🤔
Indeed. Acting is good but the editing was weak. I really wanted it to be great because of FirstKhaotung. I had hope for this and Moonlight Chicken... Let's hope it gets better.
Well, that was forgettable. Honestly, ask yourself, will you even remember this drama in 2-weeks time? I won't.…
This is so weird. There are many yaoi with mature storylines (characters who act like adult and have intimacy) yet they mainly adapt the childish ones. I've noticed when we do have a kiss, it happens early in the series, before the MC are officially together (Senpai and Mr Unlucky for example) and once the guys are a couple we got nothing, when logically they should hold hands and kiss. The characters suddenly act like virgin maidens and the script become stupid in order to avoid the natural progression of intimacy. It's like they want to ride the BL wave but don't really support the community. As if they don't want to present a realistic depiction of gay relationships...
One of the best series this year! Great acting from everyone, the filmmaking is simple and tidy (good editing, not overdramatized, no loud bgm). And I really liked Vee; he's flawed but still likeable. Yin really improved here, I'm impressed.
People in the comments are on some real horny juice or something. Oh no, a realistic, non-rushed relationship…
"You're just horny" -> ah, the famous insult throwned to dismiss others pov. "non-rushed relationship that is still easily viewed as taboo in society" -> a relationship between a 17 years old and a 27 years old isn't that taboo in Japan, it's not illegal. In fact, many japanese series and movies have this plot and the characters have intimicy (kisses or sex), which is questionable when some of these series have a student/teacher dynamics... That's not the case here. "Not everything in a relationship is about kissing and making out and sex" -> nobody say that. We're asking for the plot to progress; and not necessarily with a kiss but we need a significative progression on way or another. You may not feel it but as of ep7, we've watched 175min of a cat and mouse game. I think we're allowed to feel bored by now. "Or if the series makes you this angry, just stop watching. No one is pulling your eyelids apart to keep watching" -> Such a juvenile thing to say... You do know you can like a series and still disagree with some aspects of it? And you keep watching it because you want to see how it ends? This community isn't dedicated to positive comments. Any comment is welcome even if it hurts sensitive people... Some viewers, myself included, have explained with valid arguments why they're somehow disappointed with the show. You should read that and comprehend it instead of reducing the debate with one dimensional takes.
Mixed feelings. It gives me Blacklist vibes and that's not a good thing since Blacklist's plot was a mess and I couldn't stand the directing... Also, they need to stop with the loud suspenseful bgm!! Khaotung's acting is on point and his character is so cheeky, I love it! First is good but I don't like his character: why is Akk so pressed about Ayan? He has no proof but he's conviced Ayan is behind the troublemakers. He's bullying a new schoolmate based on nothing. I understand it's for the sake of drama but his hostility is too much from the start. So far, I'm not impressed but I'll keep watching because AkkAyan's interactions are exciting.
I wish they'd make me lie and subvert the usual tropes. But alas, the trailer of next episode doesn't bode well. They took a controversial story but they do nothing about it except repeating this cat and mouse game. There's next to no progression with ShinAkira or the subplot about Akira's unresolved feelings for his teacher. Last scene in Shin's bedroom is a nonevent since we've known since ep2 that Shin met Akira years ago, and we could guess he would ask Akira to be is bf once he'd turn 18. I'm putting the series on hold and I'll binge the last episodes. It might be more enjoyable this way.
What a lame ending. Lack of communication and misunderstanding to keep them apart until the end and then there's no finale kiss. Don't get me wrong, kisses aren't a requirement but I hate when they go out of their way to avoid it (like in Cherry Magic and Mr Unlucky). It's unrealistic and raise question about the sincerity of the whole production... Overall it was a mediocre series with 2D characters and a cliché plot.
You are just a hater at this point. I just saw you hating on this like a day ago and you are still here. If you…
At least get your facts straight, I don't come here everyday... Also, I've never said I hate the show... Hater, hating...famous words nowadays used by kids to dismiss unwanted opinions. You're so pressed it's funny. But thank you anyway for allowing me to continue to "hate" on this series. Now I feel at peace...
You are just a hater at this point. I just saw you hating on this like a day ago and you are still here. If you…
I've an interesting and busy life, I assure you I've no time and energy to hate on a mere TV show... I just like to leave an honest comment after watching each episode and I reply to other viewers. I'm sorry if it hurts you but I'll continue doing that. Your disapproval means nothing to me. Just keep loving the series and don't mind "haters".
Why we get nods and catchphrases of previous GMMtv series in every episode? It was nice the first time but now its annoying. Instead of giving us a tight and interesting plot they're riding on our nostalgia. It just proves again the script is lazy.
I've noticed that narratives tend to develop in BL fandom, and a large number of people jump aboard. One of them…
Exactly, very good comparison. That's why he was good during the fight scene in BB ep5 because OhmNanon were on fire. The rest of the time he was pretty "one note" acting.
