Saying Kdrama or Cdrama would do a better job is so off putting. I love it that Japanese dramas have their own…
I think you're misunderstanding what he's trying to say. He's saying they each have their own styles to how they approach their dramas - most of us who've watched hundreds of Asian dramas across the board agree to this - and that for THIS story maybe the approach of one of the other two countries may have been more effective. It's his understanding of the unique styles of the Chinese, Korean and Japanese dramas that prompted him to make the comment, not his lack of understanding of (or appreciation for) their differences. He's simply stating he feels the styles of the other two may have been more suitable for telling this story.
His comment never had any negative connotations towards Japanese, Chinese or Korean styles of portraying dramas, so it was rather surprising to see the comment interpreted negatively.
I'm sorry but intentionally trying to steal someone else's girl isn't a good look - period. I detested that aspect of the storyline. It didn't fit the otherwise light and fluffy nature of the drama.
Oh wow! They really went big when casting those three brothers didn't they! I didn't check out the cast list before I started watching so that was an awesome surprise.
I'm not very far along into this but the ML...Jesus. I've seen him in other stuff before so I know he's sexy af but goddamn he's killing me here. His character disgusts me to the core but his sex appeal STILL continues to be lethal (ignoring the character's sickening interests, of course; I'm referring to the actor himself only). It's fucking with my head! LOL! Best way I can think of describing the effect he's having playing this role - and, being female, I have no clue if this is really accurate but it seriously feels like it would be - is like being a man who's extremely turned on (i.e. hard) by a beautiful woman but completely unable to get it up (i.e. flaccid) because the woman is an absolute bitch to the core.
Really enjoying this so far though. The FL is badass.
Okay. I'm going to say something harsh that's likely going to attract a lot of flack but I feel like I cannot…
To clarify. I typically LOVE subbers. I think they need to be given salaried jobs and paid well for them because GOOD subs can give dramas international acclaim. They help dramas reach a larger audience. I think production companies should employ them on the regular to expand viewership, especially knowing how big the market for asian dramas has become particularly since the pandemic. I think subbing should be a respected career that people strive for just like any other and NOT just be something we have to rely on people doing as just a hobby and/or doing for free. I think that's bullshit. They deserve to be paid for their efforts and for the additional viewership the show has gained because of their work.
Okay. I'm going to say something harsh that's likely going to attract a lot of flack but I feel like I cannot hold it in anymore after watching this all the way to the end:
Subbers helped ruin this drama for me.
I'm sorry but I won't be grateful for irresponsible subbing. If you're going to commit to doing something and even go so far as sharing it with others, then do it properly. You owe that both to the viewers who are now relying on you because you took the initiative to do something, AND to the cast and crew who put time, effort and money into producing the drama. Poor subs can ruin a great drama. If you can't commit to doing it properly then either don't do it at all or just share it with those close to you and not to the masses.
To watch the entire drama and get to the end where there's a statement which CLEARLY states how the whole story ended and find that the subber did NOT bother to translate PISSED ME OFF! It is COMPLETELY irresponsible!
The ending was already abrupt enough as it was. It wouldn't have taken much for the subber to simply translate the dang statement - it was short! But to not realize how important that statement would be for us to understand how the damn story ended is fucking ridiculous!
Luckily someone on here answered another commenter's question about what was said and I was able to gain some sort of closure (based on that response) to one aspect of the story but, the other aspect - how the ML's business issues were finally resolved - wasn't mentioned. I don't know if that's because the statement didn't mention it at all or because the person who responded didn't think about it or know. So now I don't know if it's a failure on the part of the drama itself or not.
One statement. I watched the dang thing for 3 hours and stayed up in the middle of the night to finish it because I was actually enjoying it, only to end up with this result all because of an untranslated statement at the end. What a complete waste of my time!
In the end there is something written on the screen just before the last scene. I’m not able to read Chinese.…
I'm so angry at the subbers right now for not translating that final statement. It clearly tells us how the dang story ended yet they didn't bother translating it? Seriously?!
I just finished watching the drama a few seconds ago and I'll tell you that the subbers literally ruined the entire viewing experience for me by not taking the time to translate just that one fricken statement since it meant us having no understanding of what happened to the entire story we just finished watching.
I knew the only hope I had of figuring it out was finding someone here who could translate. Thank GOODNESS someone replied to you!
I will say though that, if the person's response to your question is correct, the statement made in the drama doesn't explain how the ML resolved the business situation for his company. Meaning, the drama didn't bother addressing that at all in the end. Points lost for the writing.
Just watched the first episode and the most predominant thought I have is that I hope to see the FL's father as little as possible for the remainder of the drama. I would love to be able to ignore his existence entirely. His personality disgusts me.
I only watched the first episode, which was pretty good. But from the preview for the next episode at the end, I saw that the ML already had someone else in his heart (which I'd been suspicious about) AND it looked like a SML was also about to make an appearance. A bunch of outside interference in the development of the leads relationship was not I had been in the mood to deal with at the time so I never started the second episode.
I've actually been teetering back and forth on resuming this one since yesterday...I'll probably watch it later tonight or tomorrow. If you haven't watched it yet I'll let you know how it was.
This surprised me. It was definitely better than anything I expected going in. It was cute and sweet. The minute something was about to become frustrating or annoying it was resolved and the story progressed. Like the timing of it was perfection. The lead couple is very good looking too and the kiss scenes were realistic and natural.
There were aspects of the last couple of episodes that I think could have been done a little better - too much time was spent on reminiscing/flashbacks that could have been spent on better development of various later aspects of the storyline, but it wasn't so much that it was significant or too problematic. It just took away from the overall effectiveness of the viewing experience a bit.
I'm glad they still found a way to make them get married on their selected wedding day because that would have been a major fail if they hadn't, with the name of the drama being what it is an all.
Overall this was a pretty decent and satisfying watch.
I seriously cannot believe how much I ended up enjoying this drama. It was totally unexpected. It wasn't perfect.…
You're correct. I don't know anything about her other projects. My opinion was based solely on what I saw in this drama. I'm not saying she has no acting ability. I'm simply saying that in this particular role her acting was a bit subpar. Not necessarily in comparison to anyone else or anything like that. Maybe it felt that way because of what she had to work with. Honestly, I don't even remember it anymore anyway lol
She also wasn't the worst of I've seen by far or anything like that though. She definitely wasn't so bad that I couldn't watch or was turned off by her. It just took some ignoring of her performance in certain scenes while continuing to enjoy the drama despite the weaknesses. It might just be a simple case of the director going with scenes that should have been NG's.
Also, to clarify, I'm not saying she was the only one in this drama that could improve their acting. Not in the least.
I will say that, for me, the ML's eye-candy factor improved as the drama went on. At first I didn't get what all the fuss was about. He was attractive, yes, but not to the extent everyone had been on about. But they definitely had chemistry together and his sexiness did become more efficacious as the drama went on.
It's a way of showing they have escaped the world together by end they said let's run, ? should keep running,…
Dang it. I was really hoping you could give me another perspective. I tried searching a bit for one but no one really discusses it. I really did want them to have their happy ending. If you ever do watch it again and thing of something different please do share.
Saw online somewhere where someone recommended watching this after watching Alice, The Final Weapon so I'm checking…
I can't watch this. I literally detest the FL. I hate everything about her interactions and her thought processes. I hate that the ML is even humoring her enough to eat a meal with her. Why he would bother interacting with someone like her I cannot fathom.
1) The cops not wanting to at least question someone who might be a potential pickpocket. Seriously? What's the…
Looks like what I said was valid. The cops actually started investigating! Surprise! But exactly like I said she gave them a reason to investigate her for shoplifting with the stupid way she handled that situation.
You know these people life's are not very good when they take subway in the early morning instead of taking a…
I just started watching this and haven't made it 25 mins in but am already thinking this isn't for me because the FL is, as you say, "scum of the earth". She's everything I detest in a person. Her horrible morals, illogical thinking, selfishness, all of it.
His comment never had any negative connotations towards Japanese, Chinese or Korean styles of portraying dramas, so it was rather surprising to see the comment interpreted negatively.
He also seriously brings to mind that actor from the Divergent trilogy...what's his name...Theo James!
Really enjoying this so far though. The FL is badass.
BUT with that comes responsibility.
Responsible subbers are a goddamn GODSEND!

I don't know that I found his acting to be great or anything. It just didn't stand out to either way I guess.
