I enjoyed this much more than I expected. I don't agree that ML didn't change - he became aware of some of his mistakes after just few episodes, and while he continued to be pretty narcissistic till the very end, I think this trait can't and shouldn't be removed totally. Also, right when the story began to feel draggy after about 10 episodes, they came up with memory loss idea, which played out just great here. The drama was always funny and even ridiculous at times, but didn't lack emotional moments. Silent but very clever bodyguard and Ruthless killer were fantastic. I wish bodyguard could have his own love story.
This is a very cute fairytale overall, if you don't want much drama, but also don't want to get bored. Both couples are sweet, main leads spend really a lot of time together, constant adventures and competitions keep you interested in the plot. There is also a nice friendship story between ML and the general. There are some minor flaws, but most of the time drama made me smile. Acting and cinematography are very good for a drama without any big star.
I dropped the drama after the 25th episode, but still curious about who tried to kill him when he was a child? Thanks
Evil mom of the first daughter in FL's family. She wanted her brother to get better results on exam and they switched the results, after that to avoid problems in the future she ordered to kill the boy.
I wanted something lighthearted and this drama is just fine in this category. There are some sad events, but most of the time it's an optimistic fairytale about a hardworking girl. I really love when characters have some occupation. ML is very cute, as for FL - I didn't like the actress, for me she lacked charisma and her acting was very average. Relationships were nice though, supportive and teasing. A bunch of cute secondary characters and constant rivalry and competitions made it all easy to watch.
It's better that I thought. Yeah, the main lie is a bit meh, but in general the drama is quite light hearted, nothing really bad ever happens to characters. I loved ML's family! And the most annoying female character eventually got a cute love story.
agree, the story is interesting.. usually the main villain (Lu family) got their paybacks in the very last episode…
The story of the Crown Prince was the most pitiful, he seemed a nice person and had all chances to become a happy husband and a good emperor, but people around him and then him himself just kept ruining his life. He misjudged people so much, there was even some clever thought about this in the series, but I forgot it :D
I watched just main leads scenes, as the number of women in this series is just too much for me :D I wish there would be more mature male leads like here in cn dramas, instead of cute boys :P Who killed FL's mother, could you please spoil me?)
Saw on Twitter cdrama that this drama's script writers had to apologize because of the ending. Imagine how dissatisfied…
Good, maybe chinese drama makers will understand that finales like this are not a good choice, and audience does need to watch some "happy ever after", not just last minute meeting after separation.
This was quite an interesting series with a lot of side characters and subplots, with some wise messages, like that revenge might destroy you even more than your enemy. Many times I felt absolutely horrified with the helplessness of women or ordinary people in those times. In the second half series became darker, and many nice characters were killed off, which is a pity.
As for main romance, I really liked it in the first half, where they trusted each other even when they were not together. Break up was totally unbelievable and forced. Last ~8 episodes felt badly edited, some major events were just skipped, and even main leads didn't have any normal conversation to sort out their issues and just got back together out of a sudden. But I liked the FL, and Xu Kai was cute, especially when making funny faces)
I didn't feel the chemistry. I find him really annoying being pushy when she was not interested in the beginning…
I am on episode 15 and I literally have goosebumps (in a bad sense) when prince is around, I never know what next thing he will blackmail FL to do. I find him more scary than usual villains, and romantic or funny music which plays during his scenes with FL makes it all totally creepy.
I started this by accident :D and really enjoying so far (watched 7 episodes). I read about main leads' separation, but I think it's gonna be ok, they need to develop, and there are a lot of interesting secondary characters. I really like females here, nearly no childish ones)
Can someone recommend me a drama where the ML is just as manly and charismatic like Liang Yi? I hope there are…
Under the power. At first ML is too authoritative, but he will be really likable in later episodes, very confident about his own feelings and about FL.
I've read a lot of comments about the ending being disappointing, and I find that a pity, because I was wanting…
The ending is not as bad, as it might seem from comments. Just a typical chinese last minute happy end - I guess all of us watched quite a lot of dramas, and should be used to this. Episode 34 actually has two happy ends - one is in the middle, it ends when QY talks with her mom, that's when you can stop watching if you don't want to know the final twist.
Same question! I watched several dramas with detective+romance plot, are there more? I watched: Imperial Coroner,…
Thanks! Maybe I will try them later, now I am looking for historical dramas. Hope after success of Imperial Coroner and Autumn Ballad, we get more dramas like this.
I actually like the twist with LY's mother, and I kinda understand what writers wanted QY to achieve: not let him know that his mom committed suicide, and prevent him from investigating, and she also couldn't stay with him and lie to him all the time, so she had to leave. But pretending she killed him mom was something which never was gonna work, so this is where this twist becomes absurd :D Also, I wish they didn't do it last minute. But I like the very final scene just as it is, superb acting and emotions.
