The pacing will change after about 10-12 episodes, which was a pleasant surprise for me long ago, when I also couldn't decide if to continue watching it. I think it's because the first part was much more detailed than in the novel, because they wanted to show how characters fell in love, which relationships they had and how they lived in those "happy old days". If you finish this drama, you are almost sure to go back to the beginning and enjoy it in a new way ;)

It gets better about episode 10, then they have one of the most epic gods wars, many characters die temporary or forever, and I thought that after this "mid season" crises the pacing will start to go down, but no, actually the second part has mini crises every 4-5 episodes and many emotional scenes. These first episodes, well, they are indeed a bit boring, but if you continue watching, you will appreciate them later, cause they are meant to build certain attitude towards all characters and also the feeling of "happy days", and because of them, you get much more emotions in the second part of the story. Believe me, I was the one who wrote here long time ago, that I fell asleep several times while watching episodes 1-4 😁 But later on... it changed.

I am finishing episode 10 and, like, how to stop and go back to work??? 🤣

I am totally ok with FL, and currently (episode 8) quite angry with ML as if FL wouldn't be that smart, she would end up a nun or a concubine already, and he would not care much about that. The most important thing - his precious friend would be safe and single, ghfjkdld :D

At the moment I even don't want her to end up with Qin Xuan, she just doesn't deserve him. Hope for some character development for her if she is the one to be with Qin Xuan.

I am on episode 7 and I really like her, I wish more FLs could be so selfish instead of sacrificing themselves on every possible occasion because of their family or feeling of responsibility. As for Qin Xuan, I wish she could fall in love with him, he deserves it) And then noone would be worried about her actions, right? But it's great, that the story is actually not about them, this makes things more complicated and exciting.

Started watching. Ones again FL meets a very kind men, who doesn't do anything but helping and supporting her, buf no, she is gonna fall in love with the one who does the opposite, at least in the beginning. (sigh) But ML is hot, yes 😀

Well, broadcast ratings in China if a star with 50+ mln fans is in the drama, don't tell anything but that this star is in the drama. Douban ratings are not always fair, but if you watch movies or dramas which have above 8 there, that will be a masterpiece... or a politically correct propaganda, but let's not consider those)

Yes, in the novel he is Yun Huan, it's not clear why they changed his name in drama, as the story in general has many changes, not just his storyline.

Fantastic CGI, locations, costumes, music. Quite interesting story, at least 3/4 of it, but I started to skip a lot in the final part. For me main leads' chemistry started working only after about 40 episodes, while FL had immediate chemistry with Advisor. Also, if they wanted to choose a mature man for God of War, it's ok, I support that, but why did they choose a guy who, in fact, looks quite small in comparison not only with other men in the drama, but even with the female lead?.. Just my opinion)

I wish such male characters would be more lucky in love in dramas. Being kind is hard, harder than being cold and mysterious 😀, maybe one day drama girls will start to see it 🙂

Su Mo and Yu Huan fire fight - worst CGI and editing in this drama so far, very dissapointing. Weird transitions, cuts, camera movements, It was supposed to be dramatic, but I laughed.
The whole two platforms quest would be fun if, again, CGI would be better, as sometimes I couldn't understand what was going on.
I am quite curious about the story from 7000 years ago, hope for some good twist there.
So, Yu Huan is Kong Sang royalty? Cool.
I don't really understand why, out of all things, Qing guy decided to tell Su Mo the truth about Wu city opening, how could that help him survive? It's like characters just say needed information no matter if it makes any sense at the moment.
It was kinda nice to see angry Su Mo, but his reaction felt a bit forced, again, by scriptwriter.
Good moments: Zhen Lan and Xi Jing friendship, Yu Huan and Fei Liang friendship, mermaid from the woods sacrifice, Qing guy's death. And I would love the story about new Qing king and mermaid girl, if creators would add a little more backstory to it.

I think I am gonna ship him with his friend, sword master. 😂
