Thank God I read the novel. Watched episodes 21 to 26 raw and although I don't know a lick of Mandarin I knew what was happening even with the sweet additional scenes. YOU ARE MY GLORY is for sure 1 of my favourite 2021 Dramas.
The drama has an 8.7 rating because many people watched it from the starting to the end and enjoyed it. Also it had to be enjoyable to them as while it was airing there was and still is a lot of hate and controversies.
The ratings dropped and was low for a while but then it rose again.
So just like how many found it boring, acting stiff and story made dramatic and engaging enough. Many thought it was fun, exciting, sweet, romantic and in between a few social issues were tacked between the romance.
I enjoyed this drama and I will definitely watch it again and my favourite episodes. I think it was a good adaptation of the novel. Not great as many things were changed and some characters were left out or storylines erased. So I LOVED the novel and liked the drama.
They were many things that made me roll my eyes. However overall each episodes made me smile (grin), frustrated, laugh and even angry. I really like when a story can bring out different emotions within me.
Loved the gaming all though I do not game and so was happy to see what I read brought to life. It was a cute, fluffy, sweet romance. Not as foolish as some of the dramas I have watched or attempted to watch this year.
So give it a go if you like cute and romantic lead, great friendships and gaming.
Why are some people so pressed about the product endorsements or if Tencent or any other company paid for promotion?
Without these things their would be no money or not enough money to make any drama much less a drama that is looking so well produced. Plus the actors, directors, editors, screenwriters etc need to be paid.
I know some dramas the product placements can be very weird and in your face.
When Yu Tu was at home his mother give him the yogurt, we saw her take it from the fridge and then give it to him. But then they were in the kitchen and the yogurt was set up like ornaments in the kitchen and I though why didn't they just open back the fridge to show the product. or In FIYS every episode has KFC in it lol.
Am I the only one who enjoyed ep 14 to 18?I love how this drama give viewers a real view on online gaming as well…
Yes. I LOVED those episodes too.
Some people just keep repeating the same thing over and over again.
You are correct.
What's the point of taking a novel and making it into a drama if you are gonna butcher. People complain when novel adaptation do not follow the novel and now complain when it does. So the writers should just keep doing what they want can't please everyone.
Many reasons novels are adapted is because the novel fans wanted it and the directors and producers also like the story. A story must be logical and flow.
I personally would not like to have read a novel saw the flow of the story and them the screenwriter messed it up.
Gu Man did and excellent job sticking to her story from novel to screen.
If more of Gu Man's work is produced I will be watching.
Really, entirely gaming arc ep 1-14 is about JJ's work. Yeah. this drama isn't about her at all. Some of you guy…
😄😂 I love a cheesey romance and I am even currently watching a few. I loved the Hallmark Channel a channel in the US that only produces simple sweet cheesy romance. But I enjoy other things and never make comparisons.
Watching Hollywood tv shows, dramas and movies and also reading different genre of books have really given me a different way of thinking. When watching Cdramas I just take everything in it's stride.
Sometimes you really need to understand how stories are told from different points of view, different plotlines, building of characters etc to really get that all stories will never be told in the same way. However novel to drama transitions are always jarring for many.
Very happy that I read the novel as it makes my enjoyment of this drama even more pleasurable as I LOVE every episode. Glad that Gu Man was able to keep the story flowing wonderfully. 10/10

"Good things come to those who wait."
I stumbled onto Crush yesterday and I am liking it so far. It's not as nice as YAMG but still good.
My Fated Boy started last week it just has 2 more episodes. It's your usually romance but the friends, family and bosses are not crazy.
What is everyone watching to pass the time until Monday?
I have been looking for it.
Thanks.
