Their modern life had nothing to do with their past life. The only connection it had was that Shiyi remembered it. Allen had no recollection whatsoever.

Also the original novel, did not go into much details of their past life. Shiyi would just sit and think about their 2 lives together and we would get a snippet. When she realized that he was written out of history and she could find no good information about him only that he wanted to rebel she decided to write down what she remembered.

So it wouldn't make sense to have the same cast.

Plus Bai Lu is funny and likes to laugh. So it's sure to be fun.
Allen even said that when they were filming O&O because she made to do many hand signs and be serious they found it funny. As she is usually upbeat and talking.

There romance is not sad. The family situation is sad. From the time they get together is bare sweetness.

Oh how I have missed Vincenzo keeping me company on the weekend from February to May this year. It was such a treat after watching Mr. Queen. No other show has been able to grab my attention & have me anticipating the weekend since May.

Glad to see that it has still held on to it's hard won 9 ⭐ rating despite all the hate and low review ratings 😆😂. Just looking through review section & this show has some of the lowest review ratings that I have seen for any drama that I have watched. But 9 ⭐ is still there. This means that more people still love Vincenzo than hate it.

So to give the show a fair chance watch the drama to see if you will enjoy it like most of us. Despite the negative comments & reviews.

Please remember every drama will not be your cup of tea and so it's okay if you don't enjoy the drama or cannot get into it. Watch it to make your own informed decision.

Exactly. Without Gu Man Dilraba and Yang Yang would have no story to act and awards to win. Even if Gu Man does not win an award her work would still be sought after.

I have read a few of her novels before I even really got into watching her dramas and I like them.

I am a reader above all else and I enjoy reading different genres. So that's why I have such an appreciation for scriptwriters. As they would have to tell the story and so much more. The script would have to pass through many people before it gets the okay to start production. Then when the actors come on set they might suggest or demand changes. The directors and even producers might have changes. Thus the scriptwriters would have to accommodate those changes under a tighter deadline.

So actors alone cannot make a drama successful. They are many people behind the scenes that do not get awards that help make it happen.

Another scriptwriter and author I like a lot is Mo Bao Fei Bao.

It does not matter how good actors are or even Producers or directors if the story is bad it will just be a bad drama or okay. I'm sure many people have seen shows where people say I'm just here for this or that actor and they would even drop the drama.
Although Yang Yang and Dilraba did an amazing job many persons did not come here because they were the actors. They came for the story that Gu Man created. It was a story that touched the hearts of many.

Whenever I chose dramas to watch it's all about if I like the story, be it action, comedy, romance etc. However if it has actors that I enjoyed before all the better.

I do not quite agree with the concept also that if the drama had different actors it would not do so well either. Any group of actors as long as they are good and the story is well written and is promoted well can be quiet successful.

Oh my gosh!!!!! You have just expressed what I think when I seem the "there is no logic in this story" comments.
I always think then go watch true crime or only true stories. Stay away from fiction and fantasy as it is made up. Or just write your own logic filled drama.
We all know all stories must have a logical order but fiction is just that Fiction.

I appreciate the author and screenwriter Gu Man so much as the novel was brought to life so beautifully.
Just finished watching a drama today, last week and also watching another drama being aired. I have read all the novels they are based on and Gu Man is the only one that has made a novel to drama adaptation to wonderful. When I finished YAMG I was very satisfied and while it was airing I had no complaints.

The Producers, directors & actors did a great job.
For this year I have read 6 novels and watched 6 dramas and YAMG is he best Drama to Novel adaptation so far. It's also the best out all novel adaptations that I have watched.

This is definitely a water down version of the novel. Wish they would have done justice to it.
But it was a nice little drama nevertheless and if you never read the novel you might be satisfied.
I liked it while I was watching and would rewatch a few episodes.
