TTJ mourned YXW for a long time then spent 500 years looking for her soul. He went to the Nethe river where he almost died. He was found by the Xiaoyue Sect master and brought to their sect to heal and even learn immortal arts cultivation. He met the real Li Susu there later on

Exactly! I was disappointed with how they dumbed down Susu/YXW in this drama adaptation. In the novel, she was smart and gutsy - never compromising her principles. TTJ fell in love with her because of those - not because of cutesy underhanded ways. I'm not saying being cute is wrong but I saw in a BTS, the director telling Bailu just to act cute as you in the camp scene. Bailu seemed a bit reluctant because that is Bailu - not Li Susu's character. I think the reason some people dislike Susu/YXW from the drama is she how she is seducing, acting dumb by jumping to conclusions, doing out-of-character actions, and making up with TTJ again to get the nine nails. It doesn't help that the drama made TTJ more of a paragon than he is in the novel. I like how they made him more humane but they didn't adjust the writing for YXW so the audience can find her actions jarring (Some people here asked 1. Why is she happily hugging him then asking in her head "Huh, I only got 1 nail. What can I do to get more?" 2. Why is she so angry at TTJ when he didn't do anything bad yet except get revenge? etc.).
Anyways, they better give my girl a better handling in future episodes.

Yup! Drama just glossed over her difficulties so we can't really sympathize with her. Perhaps, it was an editing choice coz of time constraints(?) but I don't wanna see more of her on the screen anyways so it's fine. 😁

Many dislike her but I am beginning to understand her character more.
I hated her as Tian Huan because she was evil ( the clam clan genocide etc.) but as YBC, you can see her just trying to survive in her unstable world. She will never be my fave character though. 😂😂😂

Hmm not really just angst. There are a lot of sweet and funny scenes as well as character insights/development. Some might be more annoying than others. 😂

Haha just fast forward through Tian Huan scenes. She will be gone for a bit after ep.18 then she will be back as Bitchang. Get ready to FF again. 😂😂😂

This is spot on! I've been watching his BTS too and you can see his dedication to his craft. He even gave suggestions during filming that the director agreed to.
We are indeed lucky that he signed on to this project. He embodies all his characters with conviction.

As for the Douban rating, it opened at a low 6.2 but TTEOTM is owning the market share and other stats are great so whatevs Douban. Haha!

The festival scenes were chef's kiss! I loved how perfect the music was during the reenactment of the fight between the goddess and evil god. How beautiful were TTJ and YXW from then until the flying sequence! 🎆💕

TTJ's fight with the assasins and XL was satisfying to watch. TTJ was so confident. Did you guys see that smirk? 🔥🔥🔥

The next scenes were great too --- YXW rushing in and fussing over TTJ, TTJ scolding YXW for exposing herself to the cold while warming her hands, and TTJ preempting YXW when she wanted to ask for mercy for XL. 😂

Of course, the piece de resistance was TTJ exposing that Bitchang was behind the plot to capture XL.
