Holy crap there's a LOT of misinformation being promoted in the comments.

I've posted a few clarifications but past that, I'm not wasting my time. If you're getting your news from online Kpop promoting rag magazines, take everything with a grain of salt.

I'm here for the larger picture. I feel bad that Yoo Ah In got embroiled in this but, let's be clear, this situation is much bigger than him and much of it has to do with a change in politics within South Korea. Let me explain....

Under President Moo Jae In, a lot of the drug investigative decisions were stripped from the prosecutors office and left to police departments in general. If any followed the Seungri & the Burning Sun scandal, you know how corrupt most police departments in the richer areas of Seoul can be. This left a large swath of drug cases not properly investigated.

With the change of leadership, South Korea recently reintroduced legislation that put the investigative process back into the hands of prosecutors. What you are seeing now is a result of this situation, and Yoo Ah In isn't being singled out or targeted. It's just that he's a public figure without a huge backing support that can keep his name & face out of the media, like the others. What do I mean by this?

Even before the issue with Yoo Ah In, prosecutors have indicted a ~17 people group of chaebols for marijuana growing and distribution in the country. They are heirs to Namyang Dairy Products, KIS Wire, JB Financial Group, & Hyosung. All of these guys have studied abroad & likely enjoyed the relaxed attitudes regarding drugs, but hooked, kept up their substance abuse in Korea, even setting up a growing farm inside a tangerine farm in Jeju Island. This was from a sting set up back in September, 2022 that completed in January, 2023.

Prosecutors are back to hardcore investigating and prosecuting regarding drugs in general. Yoo Ah In was caught up in a wider propofol investigation within the Gangnam area done around the same time. There were more than 50 people being investigated for illegal use. During the investigation, and it isn't clear whether Yoo Ah In provided any relevant information, that his doctor who proscribed the propofol has been arrested and indications are that he is a propofol abuser himself. Unfortunately, news media are also reporting stuff coming out for Kpop rags who somehow know that this 'doctor' is one of Yoo Ah In's BFFs...a matter that's unverifiable to me... what we do know is that prosecutors have indicated that Yoo Ah In is cooperating with them and they aren't currently seeking his arrest,

So, around SEA & Asia proper, there are changing attitudes towards marijuana which is medically legal in a few nations but most of these countries aren't anywhere near legalizing it for recreational use. In general, drugs are frowned upon in practically every Asian nation, especially for recreational purposes. Like it or not, those nations would rather the only abused substances be alcohol, as it is never possible for a government to 100% control the behavior and attitudes of its citizens. Forced labor camps & 're-education' systems where they beat you senseless aside. It's still not possible. Take the issue of Thailand decriminalizing cannabis recently. Afterward, the govt was forced to issue rules regarding 20 & younger because there were a slew of 16/17 hospitalized for marijuana overdoses. It is what it is....

Yes, we can all agree there should be a happy medium, and folks with emotional and mental issues need more support so that they don't turn to drugs as a way to cope that it becomes abusive. But that's for the citizens or government of each particular nation to decide. But, this is the overall view of why these kinds of topics are starting to rise up again.

The WHO is set to classify Covid like the flu and emergency will be lifted. I went to my own OB/GYN yesterday, in SoCal, USA, who said, here, Covid will be declassified as an emergency threat and be treated as a 'cold' starting this April, 2023. No more vaccines, masks, etc required. We're moving on...but the mental health damage of the past three years of societies being lockdown across the globe have had a huge impact, especially as it relates to drug abuse. As we all try to get back to normal, we need to proceed with love and care for those who have struggled with this whole thing the most, not demonize them. The government and its agencies have a job to do. We must understand that. But as a community, we can be the ones to be supportive instead of antagonistic, and seek healing rather than punishing MORE than the laws provide.

[Edit: Btw some are decrying the ban to leave the country. Uhm, in a criminal investigation, this is standard practice. And FYI, some of those chaebols left the country before their ban was issued and are now on a "wanted list". So, it's just part and parcel of what investigators do under these circumstances, whether Yoo Ah In is a flight risk or not. It means nothing other than, yes, indeed, this IS a criminal investigation that involves him and cops expect to have to arrest him at some point in time, even if prosecutors have decided NOT to do it at present.]

KBS has temporarily banned him until the final results are in. He is not permanently banned so if proven innocent…
Hmm. The results of his hair and blood have been in for a while. He tested positive for propofol, marijuana, cocaine, & ketamine. He is currently cooperating with police who are furthering their investigation at the moment & investigators have indicated they're cool with him and don't have any intention to arrest him at the moment.

Okay, but scratch all that, I read that he's been missing for a while, I really hope that he's okay and they don't…
That's just hype. He's not missing. He just didn't attend the search & seizure of his homes and police say they are investigating him in absentia. The Kpop rags all said this just because they were pissed because he didn't allow them to take perp walk photos. The standard news media who talk with investigators said he was cooperating with them and they currently have made no decision to arrest him.

That is what happens when you get caught using drugs in Korea. It is a shame, as he didn't hurt anyone by him…
Media is just hyping it up. They searched the Itaewon house that was in that 'I Live Alone' reality TV & another apt. He hasn't been to the Itaewon house for ~3 yrs. I mean, he let everyone know where he lives IRL, you think he can continue to stay there??? lol. He probably agreed to do it cuz he was gonna move from there anyway. Also, neither place required him to be 'present' at the time the warrants were served. The police are investigating him 'in absentia'.

As it stands, the govt has already issued a ban for him to leave the country so he's not going anywhere. The only thing I fear is him 'offing' himself, in the meantime. Otherwise, he's scheduled to appear before the prosecutor later today... meaning sometime March 14th. His agency already confirmed this. It's not like he's gonna go out in public and expose himself to a bunch of perp walk pictures, if he doesn't have to do it. =/

[Edit -- Here's an actual NEWS report NOT a Kpop tabloid print ~~ https://en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN20230313004000315 ~~ No where in this article does it say he is missing. They literally said, "...Police plan to have Yoo appear for questioning behind closed doors, and a request for an arrest warrant is not being considered, the officials said....."

So, even now, with all the scandal out in the press, and the evidence they supposedly have, the cops aren't even interested in arresting him yet. ]

Ahhhh okay... I see...
So you saw that the drama officially received its CCP broadcast license and it's set to be released. It's just Youku needs to find a time slot on its platform for it.

Then... That's that.. We just have to wait for Youku to set the schedule.
Maybe you can all go to their online social media sites and hit them up constantly directly, that way they know how fans are waiting for its release....

Good job!!

[Edit: One thing that's been stated is that Youku clearly will not release at the same time popular dramas that are similar genre. Right now, online, they're really promoting 'The Starry Love' and that is scheduled to finish airing on Mar. 11th. Also, on Datawin Popularity Index this drama is ranked #6 for 'dramas to be aired'. ]

I'm wondering if production postponed the drama out of respect for one of the cast members who died on Feb. 27th. He's family held his funeral ceremony on the 5th of March. Maybe out of respect they decide to wait for that to release the drama. ...then again, he's just a supporting cast member so maybe Youku production don't really care and they're doing it due to censorship reasons.

One can never know.....

when is coming release date back from the brink neo huo?
You can click the link... It says 3/23...
No specific day has been set... but again... I'm ALSO saying the C-netizens on Weibo are acting skeptical about it. As I stated above, they're saying the next release after currently airing dramas might include 1 of the 3 dramas listed above.

Title Love Endures
Supporting cast member Liu Feng's family confirmed that he passed away from myocardial infarction -- heart attack.

Per industry sources data, he had just recovered from Covid. The previous day, he was on the set of his new drama 'Stories of Youth and Love' for 20 hours straight, and was also posting & chatting with fans online. The next day he woke, hydrated and went to the gym. 10 minutes into his workout when he suffered the fatal heart attack.

This is sad. Cast a crew posted consolation statements. Not sure if this will have a major affect or delay on the schedule of this drama or if what his part is easily replaced. It's so sad to think about. He was so young with a bright future.

That's not just over drugs... dude... that over EVERYTHING: school/education, career, work ethic, junior/senior relationships, elder-parent/child relationships, marriage, children, money, status, class distinctions. ethnicity, political standing... hell, is there anything in life that Koreans don't overly put pressure on their citizens or demand greater & greater achievements/awards and/or perfection over?? Is there anything in their society that doesn't have forced public opinion or societal approval/disproval over??? Clearly there's a particular reason why of all developed nations it has the highest suicide rate, as I've previously indicated. Regardless of if you're trying to be law abiding & live a decent life -- societal pressure is STILL there, enough to make it's citizens break under the pressure and 'off' themselves on a regular basis. ...even those one would assume have a charmed life...

As someone who has spoken to alcoholics & drug addicts at institutions like Norwalk Metropolitan State Hospital who are locked up involuntarily due to their actions, with some suffering from wet brains, I beg to differ. That's why, in the USA, when you get a DUI, you're PUNISHED with forced AA meetings, etc. commonly referred to as diversion. There are a LOT of folks who are addicted who are NEVER going to seek help or REHAB without being FORCED to do so by law. Quite a few of them RECOVER and get clean & sober because of this and start a new life. I've talked to hundreds of them.

Those folks who are naïve about sobriety, & mental health, are the very people instituting policies that, instead of helping people, end up causing large homelessness problems in otherwise beautiful cities.

South Korea's problem is that they don't offer the rehab along with the punishment. That doesn't mean that the punishment isn't helpful either. It can be a thwarting device for some who don't get into drugs out of fear alone. But let's be clear here, without the rehab in the first place, not incarcerating drug offenders in that nation isn't going to make things better, in fact, it will make things worse, since there is no incentive to stop whatsoever. With that you get more cases that very well will go farther, like physical abuse to innocent people, accidents that cause innocent deaths, and if not suicide of the addict, most likely an eventual OD.

I don't make the laws in South Korea. My comments were addressing the situation AS IS. I have no control over the political spectrum and I'm not making larger political statement. I'm stating my experiences dealing with the politics of drug addiction, while I was trying to encourage many suffers to live a life of sobriety, and seek help. This issue is also larger circumstances that involves the lives of friends and family that suffer along with the addict, as well as the greater society as a whole. With that in mind, I STILL say that he's in a far better position to get sober and recover by going to jail, than just being free to figure it out for himself.

So you sat down to analyse the life of someone you have never met based on what the media reported, decided to…
You forget that at the time she 'broke up', her sister, who was a Director for one of his "PAPER" companies, stepped down from her position. A 'paid' position, given to her by PMY's b/f.

I didn't have to do ANY investigation. I spent all of a few articles to read what went down with Lee Seung Gi & the connection to PMY, whose fact of dating a dude made ALL the other "Dominoes" that cops "Sherlocked" to RAID Hook Entertainment. That's all. It's not a difficult time consuming adventure. It's just reading FACTS in EVIDENCE. Things that actually took place, and PMY's & her family's involvement in it all.

Also, her agency HOOK, the embezzlers, are the ones that said she was called simply as a witness. That's NOT what the prosecutor said. The prosecutor said they were investigating her in connection with the fact that HER NAME not her b/f's were on the company bond issuance used to pilfer money. A name that requires a seal. I guess you are "SHERLOCKING" that Hook is not lying... AND that her b/f somehow stole her seal.. or some such thing... But you're right.. Let's see if they let her off in order to get her testimony to get her ex-b/f jail time instead.

BTW, instead of calling me a hater, I think you should look in the mirror because you might be a rabid fan... One that doesn't care about the actions of their "idol" even if it affects the careers and livelihoods of others. Just saying....

"False"? Her b/f was arrested. She's been questioned. It's not hate. It's not false. I simply don't see how her current reputation will get her projects.

Well, actually, I'm not a hater.... I actually liked her earlier work, including 'Her Private Life' etc that a lot of my friends hated.

But, I don't read 'gossip' magazines etc. When I bother to comment on shit about actors and such it's usually because it came out in REGULAR news media, and reputable news agencies. I simply found it amazing the web of deceit she got herself involved in. If not for the "rag" celeb magazines, a whole lot of money laundering wouldn't have been revealed. THAT'S why I became interested in it. ...do you even understand????

It was BECAUSE of Lee Seung Gi's case and Yun Jung Youn signing with an AMERICAN talent agency that got me intereted... You realize that YJY is an Oscar winner??? Why did she leave Hook in December??? She was able to sign with CAA in January, 2023. Why did Lee Seung Gi suddenly publicly accuse Hook of embezzlement and sue them???

All the gaslighting and money laundering came to light for 1 reason and 1 reason only: PMY got caught up in a dating scandal with a money fraudster who had already done jail time by Dispatch.

It was Dispatch's outing her that caught the attention of cops. It was the outing that had the cops raid Hook in November. It was that raid that drew attention to LSG and YJY of how Hook was mismanaging the money. Etc. Etc... Now her b/f has been arrested AGAIN... and her and other actresses have been shown to be doing quid pro quo with the dude to hide his pilfered money.

If the RAID never happened and it didn't lead to all these other dominoes falling and then lead to the established press to start reporting on it because it's such a big deal, I would never have said a damn thing. I don't give a shit who she dates etc. What I do give a shit about is screwing with other people's livelihoods and careers. THAT is unforgivable.

Propofol is definitely a depressant. Many use it because they have a really hard time sleeping. Like ketamine, it can cause euphoria, inhibitions, & hallucinations.

MJ is a depressant. It may cause depression, & it's hard to tell if the chicken or the egg came first, i.e. depressed so using MJ or MJ caused depression.

Ketamine can actually be used for depression. In the USA, folks are LEGALLY prescribed it for the diagnosis of depression.

However, cocaine is a stimulant. To me, it seems that he takes so many downers that, in order to work and function, he now requires to take cocaine to 'wake' himself up. This is a drug addicts vicious cycle that leads to heart and lung failure that eventually leads to death.

On that note, since the cops released data about the amount of propofol he has supposedly been using for the past 2 years being at a level 10ml HIGHER than MJ was using when he passed away, YAI is getting a bit of sympathy.

So... that leads K-netizens to put their judgmental eyes elsewhere in their Blame Game tactics. The new rumor circling is that YAI's boyfriend, LGBQ artist, Choi Ha Neul, hooked him onto drugs. Ha Neul sports quite of bit of tattoos and has a certain attitude that lead k-netizens to see him as a badboy, bad influence. In 2022, both YAI & CHN became much more open on social media regarding their 'close friendship'. Many took it as confirmation of their relationship. ...so now *Ha Neul* is the reason for YAI's downfall... and K-netizens and the public will be on the attack against him...

This is the cycle that happens. I still believe YAI being incarcerated IS his best chance at survival because they'll make it extremely hard for him to 'off' himself while inside. Out free, he's working with the odds of South Korean society as a whole, and those odds are, indeed, frankly worse. It's CHN he has to worry about now....

To get a full understanding of just how bad suicide is in South Korea, here is an investigative journalist video about 'Cops' who work under the 'Suicide Watch' system. Even in K-dramas, if they are filming around, say, the Han River etc you can literally see every few yards telephones set up. They aren't REGULAR phones, they're specifically 'Hot Line' phones folks can call if they see someone jumping from the bridge over the river....

Post of actor Kim Young Woong on IG regarding whether 'Goodbye Earth' will ever be aired, to which he stars in along side Yoo Ah In:

“How should I express it? The welcome phone call from the casting news and the heart-fluttering memories of the first filming are all about to disappear.

Above all, the numerous staff members who worked hard with patience and sacrifice, the actors who came together to shine through each character, and the director who was more eager than anyone else. The writer who did not give up even while fighting a disease. The production company that took care of the scene until the end. If his misbehavior is true, he is sure to be the target of criticism.

I have no intention of defending him. Of course, there must be a price for him to pay. However, it is upsetting that ‘Goodbye Earth’, which was about to be born through the hard work and sacrifice of countless people, will not see the light of day.”
