There's a reason why SK has the highest suicide rate of all developed nations in the world and have been #1 in that stat for decades. The societal expectations are very hard to bear and everyone feels like they have a right to say and judge your life, either way.

While in jail, it'll be hard for him to continue using. Whether punishment or not, he's not dead, so I tend to think of this as a blessing rather than a curse. If he breaths and eats another day, I'll be happy. Others under the same kinds of negative online scrutiny as him haven't been as lucky. Dude just got accused of being the reason for the Itaewon Stampede merely cause he lives in the district...he has to come out with a statement to say, "..I wasn't there..." simply because netizens want to blame him for everything under the sun that he hasn't even done. Now that they have "something", let's just pray he still wants to LIVE under this microscope.

And... it's not like foreigners are going to come into that nation and change things that have been that way for decades. Like it or not, it is what it is. *Pray* for him. He will need it.

So SK randomly tests its citizens for drugs? Just random...like on a Tuesday your name might be pulled from a…
It was part of sweep of hospitals/clinics in Gangnam area that were administering propofol illegally that included a wider group of 50+ people. His name just happened to pop up quite a bit in this case. It was a South Korean Health Ministry investigation...and by SK laws, it doesn't matter if you do things illegal within the country OR outside the country, it's still illegal for a SK citizen. This includes things like gambling. If a SK citizen goes to Las Vegas and gambles, they can be prosecuted in SK when they get back under their own gambling laws. That's their nation's laws that all SK citizens must abide. They grow up knowing these things as well.

Because of their laws, they only need a probable cause, and it's not an 'in the moment' situation, like say, you go to Amsterdam, get high, then come back to South Korea. Based in the laws, they can test your hair to determine if you EVER did any drugs, whether on SK soil or not. Yoo Ah In was under illegal propofol use investigation by the Health Ministry due to hospital/clinic records. He was tested upon arrival to Itaewon airport. Both his urine & hair were tested. He tested positive for mj use in urine, which is illegal in SK, even though he was being tested for propofol. Additionally, it has been revealed, that his hair tested for both ketamine and cocaine...and even in the USA, those are illegal drugs for recreational use.

He wasn't tested for all the other stuff. It just came out due to the propofol situation... and having watched actors like Heath Ledger succumb to self medicating like this... I'm actually kind of glad he got in the SK govt's crosshairs... this may have very well saved his life.

Title Meet Yourself Spoiler
episode 31
Notice how all those many good reviews state the caveat??? They say 'Slice of Life' not 'romance'.... lol. That's the point to them! It's more about 'Slice of Life', as in standard 'Life' 'Drama' genre than romance. Yes, there seems to be 'romance' but it states it clearly in the tags 'Slow Burn' 'Time Skip Happy Ending', thus, you cannot expect it to focus on the romance, NOR, expect the OTP to get together in the 1st half of the drama. In a C-Drama, that's 40 episodes, AND a slice of life at that, you're NEVER gonna see them get together before episode 30+. The most you can hope for is either an accidental kiss or dream kiss, if even that, pre-episode-30. Hell, even full-fledged rom-coms with this many episodes take almost half the time to get there....say around episode 18-19... It's very common to be like this.

"...On February 24, MBC's News Desk reported that "There were three types of drug ingredients detected through the actor's hair that was tested through the National Institute of Scientific Investigation. There was another type of drug that was detected in addition to propofol, which the actor was suspected of first and marijuana..."

This was targeted by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Police knew he had visited over 10 different hospitals & medical centers in the Gangnam area for propofol. It was part of an investigation of more than 50 people and he got caught in the crosshairs. He likely wasn't expecting to be investigated coming back from travel... That there is another narcotic in his system detected by the hair follicle test means, unless he has a really good lawyer, in South Korea, he's gonna see some jail time, not just probation. If it was just marijuana that would be one thing, since it's multiple substances, I don't see how they don't do it.

Don't attack my comments. I don't make the laws. Just pointing out the facts of the situation. South Korea puts incarceration ahead of substance abuse centers. In fact, I don't think there are any big sobriety health clinic orgs anyone can really go to... because that would be admitting you did something. So, it's hard to get help, easy to get jail.

Hmmm. I guess they decided not to officially charge him with rape again. JMS was in jail for 10 years for rape previously and was released sometime in 2018. He just got arrested for doing the same to 2 women again around October of 2022... but I never heard news of whether he was being charged and facing jail again. Since he is able to file a lawsuit, I have to assume they didn't have enough evidence to charge and jail him again.

Are you fr defending Kris Wu now??? I mean come now, Chen FeiYa we can forcefully say something, but come on now,…
No, he better come out alive actually... Unlike Arthur Chen, Kris never renounced his Canadian citizenship. In fact, there were Canadian consulate officials there during his trial to ensure nothing nefarious happened. As far as Canada/China relationship goes, the Canadian govt will expect that Kris serve out his time and then they will facilitate his deportation. He didn't receive a death sentence so that's not a Canadian govt expectation. All I'm saying is that, with Covid, it gives the CCP cover if anything does happen to him..

Now, if Arthur ever did anything similar, since he renounced his American citizenship, the US govt has no say in anything that happens. The CCP will never let him see the light of day. Hell, he could do far LESS than Kris, that the CCP finds immoral, and never be seen in public again as well. In a way, Kris being who he is, was smart not doing what Arthur did, despite the fact that almost all Kris' businesses and activities were in China and he was also effectively living in China. In that way, Kris was much smarter knowing he'd have a free country defending him if the shit hit the fan... as it has.

^^^^yep.

It's now gotten worse.
Chinese news is saying he 'knelt outside his dad's office door for a day to beg forgiveness'.

The online posts from Chinese netizens are going as far as saying such things as “running a concubine search” and “abortion”, which, again, brings up images of Kris Wu and his actions....and this is whether any such thing is true or not. After all that has gone down in the past, I don't see this guy coming out of this with his career in China intact. I maybe wrong, in that, his father might have some greater influence to help him out...but in the near future...I don't see the CCP releasing anything that he has been involved with to the entertainment platforms and channels.

He can be a human being in China or USA.
Wow... What a line.

I live in SoCal in a community right next to the Pechanga Band of Indians. They run a casino in our community, and the tribe is rather successful. They're so successful that they provide jobs to Americans in the local community. Our community and the tribe have quite a really good rapport. In fact, the boy in my MDL profile picture, who is my son, received a college tuition scholarship from them when he graduated high school. They had no qualms about giving a cash donation to a white American boy who worked hard in school...just like we support their tribe and casino that provides the tribe members quite a nice living.

Maybe get out of your little bubble and look around a bit and stop promoting negativity and work towards more unity. Everyone can equally be successful and appreciate and value each person's contributions to society...it doesn't always need to be us against them...and a big fight. Maybe chill a bit with the rhetoric as well.

When did I EVER defend Kris Wu? My point with Kris Wu was that he had gotten caught far ahead his arrest. I was commenting on his FIRST scandal and how similar it is to this.... It's better Arthur fess up right from the start. Shows better character than Kris imo. That doesn't take away from my ultimate point that mainland Chinese make bigger issues out of this stuff, especially when it comes to non-native Chinese.

I also feel like Kris Wu won't come out of jail alive...Chinese jails are no joke, especially with the covid outbreak.

Uhmm.. I think you're seriously missing a LOT of the points about this case. You're on point saying she has gained…
Yes, she is rich. So, why does her sister need a Director's position in one of his paper companies???

Yes, I know the facts because they are in public records. Facts in evidence ma;am. Not theories. Not assumptions. Facts. PMY's sister, in fact, acknowledges she has resigned. If there wasn't any problems with it, she wouldn't have felt the need to do that. But as a Director...how do you not know??

He has gone to jail. Hook was raided. Lee Seung Gi had money embezzled. PMY was driving Kang's expensive cars, that, I guess by what you say, she should have been able to afford herself.

I'm letting the prosecutor's do their work. They have been. If not for them, Lee Seung Gi wouldn't have gotten that juicy check he donated to charity. Thanks to PMY dating Kang & getting exposed by Dispatch, making prosecutors take notice of Kang's expensive cars & investment in Hook, LSG was able to achieve that and get out of his contract with Hook. She's done some real good here. Sung Yuri got out of Bucket, as well. Those are all facts out of those folks mouths. Also, Kang got arrested again. Prosecutors announced that... this isn't make believe. This is all the current reality. I don't need to be a prosecutor to read the press releases that prosecutors give to the public... and they do so for reasons... if it was none of our business, the cops, prosecutors and such wouldn't be announcing it to the public. I'm part of the public they want to inform with these announcements... Sorry if that bothers you. Take it up with the prosecutors and cops in South Korea.

It's so annoying to see so much negativity on MDL. That's the reason I didn't even want to come here but well…
Uhmm.. I think you're seriously missing a LOT of the points about this case.

You're on point saying she has gained NOTHING from transferring from Namoo to Hook. So, why did she do it???

Kang Jong-Hyun invested in Chorokbaem Media which partnered with Hook Entertainment in 2021. Only months after his investment did PMY move from Namoo to Hook. Coincidence? I think not.

Additionally, it was her relationship with Kang Jong Hyun that made police take notice of Hook. The police took notice and raided Hook last November. That raid was the very reason why Lee Seung Gi asked Hook's CEO for an accounting of his funds. That's what uncovered her embezzlement. He was smart enough to understand that embezzlers like hanging out with embezzlers.

After, all these "partnership investments", police raids, embezzlement issues, Youn Yuh Jung up and left Hook in December.

PMY's situation is almost like how things went down with Sung Yu Ri. Kang Jong Hyun has a lot of quid pro quo investments with celebrities and such. Kang invested in Yu Ri's cosmetic company, through Bucket Studio, and at that same time Yu Ri signs with Bucket Studio as well. In return, Kang Jong Hyun and PMY get to tool around in vehicles in Sung Yuri's husbands name, like a Mercedes Benz, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, etc. This only comes out after Dispatch exposes PMY's relationship with him. Why? Because police start to catch on.. they've exposed PMY & him getting in and out of these vehicles. How is he paying for them?? They investigate...That's how the raids came about. Sung Yuri's name gets exposed because Kang says, "...I'm broke...I'm poor... I'm in debt... These cars aren't mine... They're Ahn Sung Hyun's cars..." In the end, Yuri has to give back the money taken from Bucket and end her contract with them as well....

Now, Kang Jong Hyun was previously been sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison and 3 years probation for fraud and forgery of private documents between 2013-2016. That's why cops are aware of him. So, Kang Jong Hyun has met PMY's family. She's close to his family. PMY's sister had a Director's position at InBioGen, owned by Kang at the time stuff was being exposed.... So, PMY's sister resigns, PMY breaks up with him... because... she want us all to believe she had absolutely no idea of all his dealings and past history. She's innocent. She just fell in love with a guy like this, looks and all, who is over here saying he's poor and in debt, but PMY & him are happily poor together driving around in Rolls Royce, etc in other people's names...poor and in debt though.... Totally, she had no clue...

And all of this shit is perfectly true and verifiable... He's been arrested AGAIN ffs. lol.

Dude is probably regretting his decision to renounce his American citizenship to become Chinese. I mean, seriously. I don't get it. You willingly put yourself under the microscope of gossips and tattletales??? For what??? Have a govt and public dictate your morals for you??? To tell you when you can come, and when you can go? Who you can be with and who you cannot??? To conform to their demands? To forget your independence and be a puppet for a bunch of women who only know how to lust after unattainable men as if they are family or married to them in their schizophrenic delusions?

Examples of these Chinese women's delusions:

"..“How can you share this declaration? Is this a statement of your resign/withdrawal from the industry?” wrote @哎做什么做什么少管我, whose response received an overwhelming 141,000 likes. Another reply to Chen’s statement read: “So why did you pretend to be single all this time?” wrote @三岁就会把妹_, with 96,000 likes..."

...and what are they all **pissed off** about??? That he OPENLY admits it like this: '...“Chen and his management company swiftly released an official statement admitting that the star had indeed engaged in a “relationship” with his fan when both were reportedly single. The statement asks that the public cease disseminating and sharing the actor’s illicit private photos..Chen’s scandal caused fan outrage due to his perceived hypocrisy and misconduct as an idol who presented himself as single, if not virginal..." AND WHAT I SAY ABOUT THIS IS... when did he become successful??? BEFORE or AFTER this relationship. THEY WERE SINGLE THEN. THEY ARE SINGLE NOW. Nothing changed in his relationship status. He had a fling.. it freaking happens.

Let's be clear, Arthur was born and raised in the USA. He became a Chinese citizen in 2021 when he turned 21, something not even his father, under pressure, has been willing to do. Arthur is more American than Chinese in his sensibilities...

How is this even a scandal worth destroying someone's career???? Because certain Asian women, especially Chinese, live under the idea that they can enslave other humans.

For an American male of his age, even Asian-American, this is more than normal shit. The guy just gave up his passport less than 2 years ago... Give him a break... he wasn't raised in China. LMFAO.

Personally, I think he's being targeted BECAUSE he's not native AND because he looks hella similar to a Canadian man, who I think will end up dead in jail before even seeing the light of day under the Xi regime, doing his 13 year sentence in a Chinese prison, for his sexual actions with females, Kris Wu. The whole "pic in bed" scenario is almost identical to the first Kris Wu scandal we ever heard..... I think Mainland Chinese LOVE attacking successful NON-native Chinese doing business and having their success in the Mainland.

Do you understand the word '𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐦'???? That's what my saying was.... I pointed it out. That's the 1st thing I said... it's an idiom... I- DI- OM. Idiom....

What you're doing is taking a bible verse and stating it as an executable fact, and disparaging people's religion like a bigot, while insinuating I'm somehow a bigot. Take your character assassination somewhere else.

It's not MY religious text... it's the Holy Bible's religious text....

It's an idiom. It's a quote from the most read book of all time in the world-- 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐲 𝐁𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞:

𝟏 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝟔:𝟏𝟎
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

After today's news, I really seriously don't see how she gets confirmed for this part. Supposedly they're still in consideration stages. But now that the police have called her in under investigation of involvement in her ex-boyfriend's crypto fraud, and being the transaction name used to borrow convertible bonds issued by Bithumb, I don't see how this project can handle the controversy that will come with her being the lead.

I did no such thing. This must be a personal issue to you for some reason. You're triggered by a certain type of remark and ignore the intent behind it.

AGAIN -- The reason for bringing it up is to 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦 that, based on her personality, which you now refer to as 'sh*ty*, she hooked up with him for his money. That is abundantly clear. Which is why she's now being investigated for involvement in his crimes...and we don't need to give her the benefit of the doubt...because it's there in face value.

This is to address her feigning ignorance about who he is, claiming she didn't know about his past or his present crimes, and she had no involvement, so she broke up with him when she found out. She wants to suggest to the public that she fell in love with him because she thought he was a good person, in debt, but a good person.
