Hopefully, he sincerely apologized to the woman whose heart he broke in trying to protect his own career. Whatever…
Wait. Hmm.. She exposes her own personally private issues to the public in order to end his career and make it so, after all his hard work, none of which has anything to do with his private life, is thrown away, and wanting him to look for a whole new career at the age of 35, but he 'slut-shamed' her??? She slut shamed herself by disclosing private information. He didn't have a choice in the matter. Besides, any of her OR his private information, whether they want to disclose it to the public or not, is none of anyone's business...and also, there are always 2 sides to every story, then there's the truth. Outsiders who didn't witness anything are speculating and repeating hearsay, none of which is legal in a court of law.

On that note, beating folks over the head with your own morality stick is intrusive. People have the right to live their lives the way they want without being judged and condemned because it doesn't fit someone else's ideas or follow some sort of conformity. I'm much more happy now that South Korea has seem to start to move past the morality stick and stop being so preaching with dramas like 'Our Blues ~ https://mydramalist.com/697585-our-blues ' that dares to include teenage pregnancy and all the issues that come with the realities of life instead of acting as if humanity can ever be perfect.

Did he commit a crime? Then let her sue him in a court... what she did was crucifying him in the Public Square with his bad choices, in actions and partners, because she was bitter about how things went down. Then Netizens ask that he be the only one to bear the consequences of something that can only happen by two willing people...and the consequences of her own personal choices as well as to reveal the details and allow herself to be part of public scrutiny... she wants to be above reproach while he takes all the blame, guilt, and repercussions???

Sorry, life doesn't work that way.

It's just Konglish, extremely common in Korea and you see it everywhere, including high end places. So in a way…
I understand it's Konglish, but, like I pointed out, why would the above synopsis provided by Soompi say "...King of the Land is a VVIP business lounge.." if the Konglish translation was meant to be that? Why correct it at all?? They obviously felt the need to correct it for their English speaking viewers, and I respect that.

You're right about 1 thing. In the West, they don't live in the 'collective' like they do in Russia & China, and by extension, most of Asia as well. The West's history doesn't involve MURDERING 3 generations of families for the sin of ONE PERSON or for a seat of power, called the Throne. The West only holds the person who violates the law themselves accountable. That's A CRIME-- meaning BREAKING THE LAW-- not doing something that hurts another person's MORALITY... Actual LAWS on the books. The shame is on the person who commits A crime, not anyone else because, in the West, they value the individual, their abilities, & provide them opportunities. The West works hard to avoid "Family Connections" and has disdain for "NEPOTISM" at the highest level--since, in history, it has kept the poorest among us from ever being able to lift themselves up from their poverty. No where else in the world is it more easy to come from nothing to be something than in the West. In the East, the poor man's family is the very thing that keeps him poor. This is why so many of the world's population rather immigrate West vs East. It's also why, when you watch an Asian drama, a person is considered better "educated" and "classy" because they've attended a COLLEGE in the West. The focus on the individual has given so many the ability to be as creative and entrepreneurial as they can be.

On the other hand, South Korea can claim the #1 stat in suicides per capita of any other industrialized nation in the world. Their youth is put under so much public pressure to perform and be perfect lest they humiliate their family and be told they're worthless because of the 'collective' mindset. Besides, when was SOCIETY as a whole 'The Family' proper that needs to have a say in the "REFLECTION" on the "(direct) family members"? Are netizens FAMILY MEMBERS??? Why does it hurt and bother them so much what NON-family members do??? Family's wouldn't have to feel humiliation if the PUBLIC kept their mouth's shut and minded their own business and family. Most hide behind a veil acting as if their shit don't stink as well. As if no one in their family was ever imperfect, a practical impossibility as part of being human. Always pointing fingers, and casting stones in their glass houses.... then pound a fist to their chest over ANOTHER young person who took their lives... and tell the media to try to HIDE that fact by writing "....please do not SPECULATE about the cause of death, and protect the family's PRIVACY...." OH, yeah, THEN the East wants to keep it PRIVATE.... because they don't want to look at the way their society forces people to the end of a rope... forget even China, because there, if you speak out against ANYTHING not just your family but your friends wouldn't even take you in... you can't get a job, or a home... you wander the streets a homeless vagrant and no one will take you in because the CCP is WATCHING everyone's every move.

Yes, an Easterner who 'causes controversy' is not just NOT put on a pedestal, they're put on a plank on a bridge over a river while the netizens scream "JUMP! JUMP!" and when they do.... they cry fake tears and show fake love... Wonder why BTS is so popular with the youth??? Because they say EVERYTHING outright that the kids feel they cannot say BECAUSE of that scrutiny.

So, as you see, there are two sides to every coin, and more than 1 simple perspective on what SOCIETY-- West or East is more correct on this kind of matter.

Therefore, I'm going to post that comment under here in a spoiler.... I'm not a fan of people who come in all hot and heavy with their moral stick, making a reply to others' comments, then trying to silence any replies to them with the block button. If you want to moralize others, be able to accept criticism and critique as well.

Title King the Land Spoiler
Just to correct you— it's not produced by Netflix. Only distributed by them. Plus, I don't mean offence but…
LMFAO. I didn't even realize it was being distributed by NetFlix until I read this comment. I knew it was jTBC from other sites. I didn't even pay attention to that because I know the difference between NetFlix produced vs distribution of a Korean broadcast channel production. Since I knew it was jTBC producing it, that wasn't even part of my thought process. I merely used NetFlix & Viki as EXAMPLES of productions where the English translations are much more nuanced and correct. Just take any NetFlix K-Drama and switch between subtitles of "CC" vs simply "English"...then switch to audio "English"... and you can see the differences. I know enough Korean to know most of those are not direct translations of Korean words and phrasings... there's much more nuance being used to convey a bit more of the sentiment going there.

And I don't take offence. You have a right to feel that, even though you think it isn't the best, you're not as bothered by it as me. For me, having taken Korean at a Korean American Culture Center in SoCal USA, I'd expect them to correct me if I didn't speak just so... and they do, for certain. It's respect of your viewership to not insult their intelligence. ...Like, I don't want to have to suspend my logic that a character knows English well...it takes me out of the immersion of a drama... and so, my 'rant' is about the fact that, even before this drama airs, I'm already being taken out of the 'realness' of the concept of this drama as portrayed in the synopsis.

Title King the Land Spoiler
Okay, I don't get it. I know there are a lot of comments about this but I still feel like adding my 2 cents in. Because, let's be honest, shall we, if a production is this sloppy before the show has even aired, then my expectations go down to the gutter.

The above synopsis is from Soompi = owned by Viki, Inc. with offices in both San Francisco & Seoul. Now, as the leaders in Korean to English translations and subtitles, they fully understand how the "space" or "lounge", Sa Rang currently works at, should actually be titled then decided to make the CORRECTION themselves. "...King of the Land is a VVIP business lounge.." SEE?!? They actually put in the preposition "of" meaning "belonging to somebody/something" as in the "King" belongings to the "Land". The Viki translators speak/write English WELL.

Every other outlet, including the Korean version of Wikipedia, or Korean based English database Hancinema [run by foreigners] have this dang drama's title as the PURE translation of the romanization of " 킹더랜드" which is 'Kingdeolaendeu" as "King 'the' Land". But is that even the correct translation of the romanization??? Are we even sure the phonetic Konglish translation to English is "King 'the' Land" and not "Kingdom Land"? Because an upscale VVIP lounge for an upscale hotel that accommodates foreigners, assumed by the simple fact that they bother using a Konglish name for their VVIP lounge, should appropriately name the room as to not insult the intelligence of its members.

Yes, Soompi made the corrections right on the translations if, in fact, the 더 [deo] is meant to mean 'the'. If the writer generated this title and the production indulged them, this writer is definitely not sophisticated enough for the plot's theme and/or setting. Merely using Konglish as a way to make something sound/seem more important is childish thinking in the era of 2023.

This feels more like a 1998 title than the current age of K-Dramas produced by NetFlix. It reminds me of when I was attending Utsunomiya Kita High School in Utsunomiya, Japan. When we'd go to a movie and/or shopping down at the city mall, there were ALL these articles of clothing -- shirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, dresses -- that would have these RANDOM English sentences or phrases that made ABSOLUTELY no sense whatsoever. It was just gibberish put on a shirt to look "cool" because it was English. POINT BEING: Japanese, at that time [circa 1985-86] thought it made you look 'intelligent' just to have English on your clothes, as in, onlookers would say, "WOW! He/she knows English!!" Bwhahaha... I thought it was ridiculous and childish... This is what this title feels like to me. It's so dated and childish. Production should have been savvy enough to make the corrections to the lounge the drama is named for just like Soompi did. The fact they didn't, sadly, I must say, makes me think poorly of them. They have to know that this is insulting to English speakers, just like putting in actors/actresses whose characters supposedly went to university in a English speaking area then come back and cannot speak a lick of English. Or putting in foreign actors who don't speak English, etc. Imagine Song Joong Ki playing a half Italian then not being able to speak Italian at all??? That's what makes Joong Ki such a treasure as an actor-- you take the time to get it RIGHT and not insult the intelligence of your audience.

Trying to understand the headline. Not sure where Kim Woo Bin has showed nervousness. If anything, the stills show him to be determined and focused. I mean, the description of his character doesn't indicate anything like this. If anything, it states he's the one who is enraged, not Song Seung Heon: "...5-8, is a legend among deliverymen for his strength and ability to complete his tasks without fail. But hiding behind his cool, sarcastic demeanor is a lot of rage—and only a select few know why..." If anyone is nervous, that would be Sa-Wol, while being trained by 5-8. 5-8 can be brutal and stoically badass when protecting the citizens, especially the refugees, from Cheonmyeong Group. That requires very little time to be 'nervous'.

Ryu Seok is cruelly ambitious, and wants to win at all costs. That's not due to rage. That's due to power, wealth, and privilege and the friction with his father.

Also, I think this is a better description of what this drama will be about:
"..After a meteor crash lands into Earth and destroys everything in its path, the atmosphere is changed irrepareably. Oxygen grew scarce due to extreme air pollution, forcing people to wear masks and rely on deliveries of the precious resource in order to survive. Deliverymen, as the name suggests, deliver oxygen and other necessities that keep people alive. And for many, becoming a deliveryman is their only hope of lifting themselves out of poverty."

On another note, Song Seung Heon barely looks like himself. I haven't seen him in an evil role in a while. They really put a lot of effort for him to look the part.

This is already starting to garner international attention. After the success of 'Squid Games', this has the potential to be a huge hit, if it was done right. Honestly think that this can skyrocket Kim Woo Bin & Song Seung Heon into international stardom--past their stardom on the peninsula -- or merely Asian in general. This is the genre of movie/drama the West loves. Just look at the success of 'Everything Everywhere All at Once'. This drama can possibly tap into that kind of success. I'm excited to see the outcome. Additionally, Kang Yoo Seok can get a huge spring in his acting cred as well, among the other casts...barring an epic fail, that I just don't see happening...

Fingers crossed.

Still don't understand how fucking a prostitute becomes crime. When was sex never a transaction? America that…
Well if we're talking about the culture of legal prostitution, why does everyone always bring up the USA, and talk about it as if we say it's the standard???

The USA does not pre-date Europe as a nation...

If you want to complain about the culture of sex trade -- here [ https://www.viator.com/Amsterdam-attractions/Amsterdam-Red-Light-District-De-Wallen/d525-a774 ] contact the company and bitch about the Red Light District in Amsterdam.

Was his 3 month hiatus for 'health reasons' at the end of 2019 to early 2020 a precursor and a warning sign. We will never know because the company and South Korean public at large try to hide this epidemic under the carpet. But there are so many of these 'sudden deaths' it's like trying to cover the sky with your hand. In the meantime, are they getting proper mental health access? Any extra support from the family, friends, & fans that care about them? I want to believe Fantagio was there to help, but in the back of my mind, the results prove it's simply not enough.

Okay so sending you abroad without your consent is okay?
They act like parents of some religious cult where they control every aspect of their offspring, by what they can do for a living, who they can have as friends, who they can marry, when and where they can go, what hobbies they can have, what they can eat, what socio-political thoughts they can have, etc. The family is a full matriarchy where the dad is emasculated and has no power. He doesn't have thoughts of his own either, despite his love for his daughter. He lies and hides things from his wife because he knows that often she is wrong and controlling. The obsessed persons in this drama are Zhu Yun's mother and Gao Jian Hong.

Let's also make a point-- it may be a cultural thing, but even then, it's kinda of mentally and emotionally abusive and sick -- Zhu Yun isn't a TEENAGER in need of her parent's constant supervision. She was a college student and literally the definition of an adult. I have a 25 & 22 year old son. My 22 year old will be graduating college in June. Do you know, that in the USA, as a parent financially supporting him, I have no right to open his mail, check his bank account for how he spends his money, or to even demand his doctor discuss with me what's going on with him??? I LEGALLY HAVE NO RIGHT TO DO THAT. Why??? Because in THIS country, the minute you turn 18, regardless of if you live at home and your parents pay your way, you are an adult with FULL RIGHTS and PRIVACY to make decisions for yourself. He gets to vote in our national elections as well. He's not a baby. He's an adult. He can come and go as he wants, and I have NO LEGAL authority to force him to do or go anywhere he doesn't want to go.. Try calling the cops over forcing your kid to travel abroad against their will at 22 and see how far that will go! The fact that in China you can do it speaks more to the political form of their government and their family laws towards young adults than it does about whether Zhu Yun is a girl obsessively in love with some dude--regardless of how he looks and such.

So, no, I don't see her mother, who was controlling Zhu Yun's EVERY move and decision--- including being a programmer that put her in a position to meet a guy she didn't like -- BEFORE she meet any dude she didn't like. Her mother ALWAYS wanted her to go abroad '..to improve..' herself. That was her MOTHER'S choices... ALL OF THEM... not her daughter. Her daughter never had the right or authority to make a decision for herself whatsoever, from childhood into adulthood. Her mother was literally trying to create a Stepford Wife out of her daughter, wanting Zhu Yun to be a little robot who did only the commands her mom inputted and never question her mother ever. This mother is lucky that Zhu Yun was respectful as a child and took this behavior in stride... but at some point, if she's going to live her own life, and have her own thoughts and feelings, she has to cut ties...because this obsessive, controlling mother is never going to let go....

Whether Li Xin and her relationship was the right thing to make her realize she has to break free from her mother, I don't know...and I don't care. But, if making decisions for yourself AS AN ADULT is considered obsessive and disrespectful to your parents, than just about every adult on the face of the planet is... She's not a child anymore. So, I'm not into this idea of Parent/Children concept you're going for... This isn't a High School Drama....Kids need to grow up and be their own person, and that includes making choices and decisions that might be mistakes and/or might go against the views of their parents. That's LIFE.

If you watch the NetFlix docuseries about the FLDS [The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints] this is so similar in many ways. Old men marrying multiple girls, swapping them between each other, and then going as far as marrying them at 14 and having babies with them. What is an even harder pill to swallow is that there are still members following this stuff.

Scary to see women who are so ignorant, conned, & scammed for love/money/promises to be subservient to men. I'm not blaming them. They're usually brought up from infancy to be susceptible to this. It's just scary how easy it is for these guys to do this shit...when the guys are usually old/ugly, and majority of these girls, right off, have a GUT instinct that what they're being spoon feed is BS. All these men need to be in jail....

Claiming to be a prophet or God is beyond the pale. There is nothing in scripture that says any such thing...and for Christians into 'Doomsday' crap...the second coming is happening through Christ Himself, not some 3rd Party human trying to have sex with multiple women...Jesus wasn't having sex with women, so why would they think a prophet would need to do something like that???

It would be nice if folks who moved to a religion actually READ the dogma and text from the MAIN source, not secondary material, and also not having someone EXPLAIN/INTERPRET it for them!! If any of these women just merely read the bible & directly what Jesus said, they'd be no where near these phonies.

Why would Canada voids his dual citizenship? Dual citizenship is legal in Canada.
Are you saying the CCP has lost cases even on appeal? Are we being this dense? Detaining someone to shut them up so you can get your conviction? This is the CCP we're talking about. The have a 100% conviction rate, just like Xi got voted to be in his position essentially for life with a 100% vote for him. Come back to me when Kris Wu has served LESS than the time they handed him. Until then, remember this isn't a Canadian courtroom or any other Western courtroom. This is a CCP run courtroom.
