I'm so sorry for you, Shohei. SME has done you dirty.
I know the likelihood of you debuting now is slim & none, since they already kicked you from the dorms and sent you back to Japan to 'recover' from your injure that happened in February...
This is SME's m.o. They'll let you hang for several more months before they officially let you go... Who could have predicted what a stockholder bidding war, ousting Lee So Man, and Kakao taking over would have done to your budding career. I'm so sorry this happened to you.
Keep up the fight, and hopefully we'll see you again with a BETTER company than this BS!!!
SME is such a clusterfuk. Now that they essentially ousted Lee Soo Man from his CEO position & feigned off the attack from Hybe to give Kakao control, we're gonna gp backwards to the old Korean way of doing things.
This makes this entire reality show obsolete.
They went back on ALL the promises they originally made when this reality show aired. None of these boys are gonna debut as planned. They ousted Sungchan [Korean] & Shotaro [Japanese] from NCT, stating they'll, AGAIN, RE-debut at a later date in a completely new boy-group. 2 new trainees were added, 1 Korean, 1 Japanese to NCT's SMROOKIES group replacing these boys. While Shohei, who is supposedly injured, was sent BACK to Japan on hiatus to recover. He'll likely end up like every other SME artist that went on hiatus for health reasons and then gets dropped 4-6 months later. The fact he's not in Korea recovering but in Japan speaks volumes. There's no point in SME paying for his dorm costs if they don't want him active and he's no longer going to debut [ "solo" debut, my foot... lol.. NEVER gonna happen..]
The whole purpose of THIS reality drama was to introduce these boys, who CEO Lee So Man, in the final episode reveals, that are ready to DEBUT, and the thought was they would all debut TOGETHER in summer of 2023 as NCT Tokyo... but NOW, SME has a new main shareholder & CEO and, thus, isn't having ANY of these guys in NCT whatsoever.
As for this group of boys who have or should have debuted as an NCT subunit?? Sungchan & Shotaro, who have already debuted for NCT, have been kicked from NCT altogether. They along with Eunsuk & Seunghan are supposedly going to start a completely NEW boy group by adding some additional, unknown, rookies from Korea and the USA to these 4. Supposedly they'll be ready to debut in 2023??? Yeah, right... lol.
As to the NCT subunit this was supposedly promoting for 2023??? They say they'll continue adding more JAPANESE NCT rookies to release their final NCT sub unit...NCT Tokyo, whenever that happens, and then NCT concept/universe will be done... what is in NCT will remain NCT and NO NEW UNITS will be created. HOW ARE THEY GONNA ANNOUNCE THE JAPANESE ROOKIES???...
BY DOING ANOTHER REALITY SHOW. Bwhahaha... I guess these things are lucrative... they'll just keep rehashing, while never actually completing anything these REALITY SHOWS supposedly set up to do... But this time they gonna do this in the SURVIVAL -- PRODUCE 101 FASHION... and since THEY ARE THE SOLE COMPANY MAKING DECISIONS... they don't have to worry about RIGGING the RESULTS since they have the right to RIG the survival show however they want... fun stuff... fun stuff... Those 2 new SMROOKIES [Korean/Japanese who replaced Sungchan & Shotaro] supposedly don't have to go through the survival show. They get to already be members... Likely so they can have these 2 dudes HOST the show.. bwahahaha.....
This drama finished filming in January, 2022 and was anticipated to be released that summer. We're now at the summer a year later. Suffice it to say, I suspect this drama won't see the light of day.
The classism is just so unnecessary. The fact the so many viewers agree with it rather bothers me. Cher's friends were fine with a gay couple within their group but uncomfortable when a dude with money enters. He's not flaunting it. He's not arrogant or self centered. He truly cares about their friend, who is happy with him.
The "office romance" excuse is just BS. First off, those office bitches were already telling a "NEW" employee his sexual orientation and crap. Like, it doesn't matter what you keep 'private' or not, these gossip-y bitches creating rumors are gonna do just that, because that's what gossip-y bitches do. How is it okay for Porsche but not Cher? Because he's an intern? Before Jack opened his damn mouth and talked to Cher like the entire relationship was foul, not just 'PDA' at the office, there was literally only 1 time they did skinship in public in the office AFTER a freaking public BRAWL and cops coming--and it was Gun grabbing Cher by the wrist and leaving the building. That's it.... We, the viewer, get to see what happens behind closed doors, but the rest of those gossip-y bitches don't know shit, they're just ASSUMING what's happening... They'd do that who tf ever was in there based on how they were from Day 1. It was the job of an intern to get him coffee, and he did. What else happened behind closed doors or AFTER HOURS is no one's f'ing business... And there was NEVER any political hierarchy power struggle between Gun & Cher. Gun goes to Cher's home in the boonies and without issue about class and distinction IMMEDIATELY starts helping Cher's mom etc. He never acted better than that... wasn't offering to 'take care of Cher'... only in terms of any COMMITTED, serious ROMANTIC relationship... He never held money, power, prestige over Cher, ever. He ALWAYS treated Cher as an equal... communicated with him openly that way, and asked Cher to do the same in return. There was never in a power dynamic whatsoever...
So, NO... I don't get this whole last part of this drama... It came out of no where based on everything else that took place before.... and was unnecessary!!!
I thought that he was married with a Korean actress and that someone else was married with the European one! But…
You're joking, right? This is the way it is for every public figure around the entire world, not just South Korean celebrities. The world hears about every royal baby birth and birth of every leading industrialized nations political leaders families, music, film, theater, art world, etc. Where is there NOT a PUBLIC figure that doesn't have their family's followed by the media, and the public??? Even if they don't announce it, the media will investigate and take pictures of them.
You don't have to choose from what is shown. You can go back to your own drama list and list it by country, year, & rating of what you completed, so you can remember well.
Yes, I've enjoyed recent couples, but I can never forget the couples that drew me into Kdrama in the first place, and how many REwatches of their dramas I rated 10/10 I have done. I wanted to add Arang & the Magistrate for this, but then if I had to rate Shin Min Ah in just 1 of her dramas I felt I liked her better in Oh My Venus' couple. So, I deviated a bit from my heart on this and went:
1) Secret Garden 2) In Hyun's Man 3) Oh My Venus 4)The Innocent Man 5) Operation Proposal 6) Healer 7) Witch's Romance 8) Twenty-Five Twenty-One 9) Moon Embracing the Sun 10) Falling for Innocence
I was going to watch this since this is 1 of my favorite C-Dramas of all-time and 2 of my favorite Thai actors, Aom & Push. But while it was getting subbed, those who could watch & understand without it made comments that made me mark this as "not interested". I didn't even want to watch for fear of making me irritated with Push & Aom for participating in something that warps my beloved novel & OG drama, a drama whose co-scriptwriter was none other than Gu Man herself. I didn't need a lakorn melodrama version. The original had enough going on, it didn't need anything added or taken away. It was perfect the way Gu Man wrote it.
Just leaving the link, so those who don't know the source material can read it and realize for themselves whether this drama should have still been named Boss & Me or if it was something else entirely.
You guessed half right. The game has a sponsor, but no government sponsorship. The drama was filmed by Tencent…
Friend, please refer to my comment I link to below so you can get the link to the English version of the novel and read it for yourself....
NO... it wouldn't have been Onmyoji Arena because the game is SPECIFIC to what the AUTHOR wrote in the NOVEL... not the script, not the adaptation... it wasn't some RANDOM game they were playing in the novel it was specifically THIS game... as I noted in the comment linked below.... The TITLE is literally related to The CHINESE version of the game-- So, it doesn't matter whether the production would be Tencent or NetEase, the game would still be 'Honor of Kings' since it is INHERENT to the actual meaning of the story and title.
"...Translator’s Note: Although the game is officially known as Honor of Kings, the unofficial translation King of Glory is used because of the emphasis on Glory in the novel’s title. The game is called Wang Zhe Rong Yao in Mandarin and the novel is called Ni Shi Wo De Rong Yao...."
Unfortunately, if you don't know the basis of the source material, it's actually libelous and slander to say this. It's not an ad.
This drama is based on a short story-novel 'You're My Glory' written by Gu Man who also wrote the screenplay. Gu Man is also the author of Boss & Me [aka Come & Eat, Shan Shan - https://hui3r.wordpress.com/gu-man/come-eat-shan-shan-completed/] & Love O2O (which is also based on a videogame).
IF you take the time to read the 37 chapter novel 'You're My Glory' with included 16 epilogues [since her fans screamed for her to write more] then you would know that the scriptwriter of this drama, who is Gu Man herself, the original author, stayed 100% true to the story and that this was not based at all on 'advertising' OR 'sponsorship. [https://hui3r.wordpress.com/gu-man/youre-my-glory-on-going/] If you bother reading, you'll get to see these little gems....:
"...Translator’s Note: Although the game is officially known as Honor of Kings, the unofficial translation King of Glory is used because of the emphasis on Glory in the novel’s title. The game is called Wang Zhe Rong Yao in Mandarin and the novel is called Ni Shi Wo De Rong Yao...."
I’m obsessed with this show (im only half way through though) I love how there’s no cliches and misunderstandings…
It, indeed, goes fast. It's such a good drama, with such a perfect couple that you just want to savor the process... but, unfortunately, the source material, the novel, is quite short, and the scriptwriter is also the author of the original novel. She stayed true to her story, which I fully appreciated, since I read the book prior to watching this drama. Having an adaptation be 98% identical to what you read is such a treat and makes this drama a gem. On the other hand, since the novel is more like a short story, there's no way she could have lengthened this without completely altering the story. There was only so much she could do to expand it... and I'm grateful she didn't change it up just to get another episode or two... It might have been sad for those who never read the book, but I respect her integrity towards her own work.
You guessed half right. The game has a sponsor, but no government sponsorship. The drama was filmed by Tencent…
First off, this is a Gu Man production. Not only was she the author of the source material, she was the sole scriptwriter herself.
Secondly, I read the entire novel YAMG before this drama aired. I can 100% completely attest that every scene and situation that was put into this drama came from THAT book, including the game, aerospace, AND dialogue. Not a scene, speck, word, was utter that was sponsored by any brand or contract. The author, who additionally wrote Love O2O, which was also based on videogaming, included every aspect and I, in fact, was not only surprised, but completely grateful that she made this drama stay fully true to her source material, the novel. You should read it. It was as good, if not better than, this drama.
There is no coincidence that the ML's name is Yu Tu because that is the name of the Chinese moon rover his background story is based upon-- including the andromorphic messages [part of the couple's dialogue when he's pondering to work where he loves, or work for money] the YuTu rover sent to earth that China posted to YuTu rover's Weibo account:
"Hi, anybody there?" "This time it really is goodnight," "There are still many questions I would like answers to, but I'm the rabbit that has seen the most stars." [https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-36972205}
Maybe the reason Tencent asked Gu Man to use her novel and had her write the screenplay for the drama was because of the videogame...BUT it was NEVER written on their sponsorship at all... if anything, the gaming was simply not as important compared to the aerospace stuff... but the novel was extremely short, only a handful of chapters, so, in order to make this a full episode drama, she simply extended the episodes on the subject of gaming. But, again, she didn't add scenes or subject matter that wasn't in the novel. If you ever read it, you'd know.
Holy shit this is as tone deaf as it gets. Seriously???? Are we kidding here, or being real??? You wonder why…
Hmm.. I wasn't attacking Korea as a whole... Seriously... If that's what you got out of it.... and no, you obviously didn't get the gist if that's what you're saying.... I'm talking about Koreans who attack celebrities in this inhuman way, and make unreasonable demands, and put unreasonable pressures on them, that end up making them make horrible decisions later on about whether to continue living or not.... That's all... there are quite a few Koreans who speak out about this kind of thing, instead of defending it...
Holy shit this is as tone deaf as it gets. Seriously???? Are we kidding here, or being real??? You wonder why…
You're simply not understanding the dynamic as much as I'm trying to explain it.. We aren't the ones whining and complaining. But Korean whining and complaining affects us.
EXAMPLE: Tae Ri asks non-Koreans to support her channel and provide additional subs past English for others who would like the subs in their native tongue. No harm, no foul. Those who know Korean can have ***access*** to her channel's subtitles and input them if they want to do so... No international fans are whining her.. They're offering the donated subs for their bias they enjoying watching on YouTube. Happens all the time... Not just with Korean content....
Now Koreans come in and make a big issue about these international fans donating their sub time and efforts for free; make demands on Tae Ri, who ends up having to apologize and now ***CLOSES*** her subtitles from international fans... who no longer can provide subs in their native language.. They'll still get subbed... at least in English... but Tae Ri's engagement with international fans has been limited by Koreans who instilled themselves into an issue that was really, HONESTLY, none of their business.... and the fact she had to apologize for her engagement with international fans, unsurprisingly, upsets international fans who you say, made a bigger deal out of it than it needs... You came to comment an excuse for Koreans involvement in this issue as a problem within Korean society that hasn't been appropriately addressed... the rest of us international fans only care about the fact that she had to apologize on OUR behalf for trying to be accommodating to us by allowing us even remotely access to her channel through subtitles.... We weren't the ones complaining at all... we were engaging....
'Kim Tae Ri was recently involved in a controversy after she requested for "International fans" voluntarily contribute…
??? they don't pay them at all.. it has always been and will always be fan subbed material and Viki pays for rights and release more stuff than NetFlix Apple+ Amazon Prime or Disney combined... Plus, the subs are higher quality and more accurate. We don't ask them to do that, because we've lived under this system for decades... again, you're right, Koreans don't know about it because they don't care about it... but then put their 2 cents in because it wasn't so Korean broadcast company, or the like, but a actor's personal YouTube channel that they knew they could effectively attack. They're wasn't in real altruistic endeavor here, because none of them bothered to understand and research the real circumstances to begin with.... It was, again, a kneejerk reaction... and once they got their 'apology' they are now free to move onto their next target...
Holy shit this is as tone deaf as it gets. Seriously???? Are we kidding here, or being real??? You wonder why…
Again, netizens so quick to make a row over any little thing, with the kneejerk reaction, without knowing all the facts. Here I'm being told, 'don't criticize Korea because you don't know that much from simply listening to Kpop, Kdrama, etc' while out of the other side of the mouth being told, 'don't blame Koreans because they don't simply know about Viki and the real plight of international fans getting subs'... No, I don't think that these Koreans complaints are reasonable. Why? Because we HAD a paid translator website in the past, DramaFever, that ended up getting bought out by an American corp then deleted...so, since 2016, we were truly even more limited in our access to subbed material and often had to start relying on blogposts of fansubs for any of it. So, no, I don't need Koreans to advocate on our behalf, because the damage far outweighs any benefit, if there even was one. [btw, prior to the Covid outbreak I was planning on buying property in Korea & transitioning to live there...taking Korean at the Korean-American Cultural Center...Supported by the King Sejong Institute... so, there's assumptions going on here, as you might say, on both sides...]
The idea that it dessolved quick af is also very nearsighted. You think this dissolved for TaeRi and her outlook going forward towards her YouTube channel?? You think she won't hesitate about videos she posts and subs going forward? Really? Come on now.... The damage has been done and no amount of "Oops, we didn't know... Oh Viki?? So sorry..." is gonna put the genie back in the bottle. So, you admit it's not the international fans "overreaction" to what K-netizens did here but the "overreaction" of K-netizens to her request for international fans ""donating"" fansubs to her channel .
'Kim Tae Ri was recently involved in a controversy after she requested for "International fans" voluntarily contribute…
Then this is tone deaf as well... It just shows that none of these Koreans understand anything about international fans and they don't need to protest and fight on our behalf. In the end, they cause more irreparable harm to the international fans who, now, will likely get no subs in their home language, just English, than any harm to these Koreans complaining about wages.
Again, look past the peninsula. You can see an example of foreign engagement that has been around for decades now, Viki platform. Why aren't Koreans protesting Rakuten and any of the actors/actresses promoted by their works on that platform on behalf of international fans who only get subs by donated translation efforts from international fans??? Why a mere YouTube channel, not a Japanese corporation for its "exploitation" of fans??? Can you not see the ridiculousness of the Netizens accusations and arguments??? You obviously agree on some level or you wouldn't be excusing these criticism with these kinds of explanations.
Holy shit this is as tone deaf as it gets. Seriously???? Are we kidding here, or being real???
You wonder why young Korean talent more than ever commit suicide??? This is it right here. Making her request a political statement as if she's solely responsible for the working plight and conditions in South Korea. Acting as if she should be asking to employ South Koreans? As if a South Korean she could employ would be able to effectively and immediately translate in not just English but multiple languages, like Polish, French, Italian, Finnish, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, et al. That her simply not offering a KOREAN employment agency to help find KOREANS for translations for a freaking YOUTUBE CHANNEL or KOREAN "jogong" fans a BRIBE/PRIZE means she's causing irreparable harm to the "69 hour work week' & 'less than minimum wage' jobs is seriously a bridge too far. Making her some sort of prop to drive an AGENDA is just sickening and acting as if ANY of this "jogong" fans could even DO THE FREAKING JOB ANYWAY shows those netizens who complained as ignorant af about INTERNATIONAL outreach....
Here's the example I will use. Viki doesn't pay the channel translators jack. The fans provide the translation how, when, and where they possibly can. The INTERNATIONAL FOREIGN users provide their love and thanks for their DONATION of SERVICES efforts. Viki the corporation makes MILLIONS off of this-- DONATIONS... From WILLING fans. This doesn't impact KOREANS. They get to see the work on their national broadcast channels. Only the FOREIGN FANS are affected, like when a group of translators decide they don't enjoy a project and stop OR slow their translations... It has no effect on South Korea WHATSOEVER. Her YouTube Channel is no different. It's HER channel, not a broadcast network. She's solely responsible for the content of her channel... and her desire to REACH more INTERNATIONAL FANS has nothing to do with South Koreans and their ability to find a job and get paid appropriately..
Maybe the reason young people struggle to get paid and find a job within their country is because they focus on the wrong things. They protest in the wrong ways. They don't hold the appropriate people with the REAL power to make change accountable. They just don't understand how to address this situation... Make Tae Ri apology over FOREIGN LANGUAGE requests does nothing to help their plight.... All it does is REDUCE Tae Ri's audience attraction...thus, reducing the amount of viewers who maybe become more interested in her work to watch a KOREAN broadcast channel she is in.... a BROADCAST COMPANY that can then employ MORE Koreans with a HIGHER wage, because of the INCREASE in broadcast income from FOREIGN DISTRIBUTION....
Do you think this argument and apology did anything at all to help the wage issue in South Korea whatsoever? Do you think the jogong fans will do any of the requested translations at all, ever? Do you think Tae Ri is going to offering more or less translated YouTube videos after this? Do you think she'll even bother posting videos at all in the near future??? And when she does, do you think she'll have employed translators or just leave it simply in the Korean cloister??? In the end, who will suffer most???? Tae Ri???? Koreans??? Korean wages???? Or international fans???? Koreans are so myopic in their outlook on life they cannot see outside their country.... Makes some of Yoongi's lyrics about being too big for his country make a huge amount of sense. Koreans need to decide if they want to simply stay on the peninsula or be a metropolitan society. If they want the later, this is NOT the way to go about it.
But, you do you Korea.... And keep on bitching at your talent over every little thing... while pounding your fists against your chest wondering why so many look to drugs or charcoal or a river or a rope for their solutions. Who could live under such intense scrutiny...and know that at any given moment they'll be held accountable for a nation's woes because the nation STILL after impeaching a president has learned its lesson on who the REAL POWERS they need to go after are....
Wait. Hmm.. She exposes her own personally private issues to the public in order to end his career and make it…
So let's get this straight. It's okay for her to lie to him and wait until he already has feelings for her before she let's him know she's been married & divorced previously? You don't consider that emotional blackmail??? Then it's okay for her to go out with other guys behind his back and not be upfront about it, on top of that??? That he should just trust her, and also not think she's trying to hook him with a kid???
Are you also suggesting he committed a crime you say?? She had no part in it??? Are you suggesting his "misogyny" was akin to r@ping her then putting a knife to her throat and demanded she make these choices?
OH wait... for one thing abortion wasn't even officially considered LEGAL in South Korea until Jan. 1, 2021. Let's get the timeline straight shall we? They started dating in March, 2020. She got pregnant several months later and had her abortion in July of 2020 ~ NOTE: 6 months before abortion was legislated as LEGAL in South Korea... He went with her to have it done. She met his parents AFTER the abortion incident, and such... and they did not officially break up until MAY of 2021, almost an entire YEAR after the incident... I don't give a shit what a rag tabloid like Dispatch says to try to tear apart someone's career. The other side of this story is that she had serious issues with her ex-husband who seemed to be involved in gangs etc and it got to be too much for Kim Seon Ho... BUT who are you to question it??? Yeah, looking at the timeline and such... only an ignorant fool would look at what she said and say, "... IT'S ALL HIS FAULT... SHE DID NOTHING WRONG... SHE PLAYED NO PART... SHE'S BRAVE AND INNOCENT...IT'S HORRIBLE ANYONE WOULD CALL HER A LIAR..." ~~RIDICULOUS!!
So, let's be a little clear here... IF, and I mean IF, she wanted to keep the baby, she very well could have under South Korean laws. She sure enough had to jump through hoops to have the procedure under the circumstances... because even NOW, Korean women will tell you that, although legal, it's nearly impossible to find a proper hospital that will do the deed. ....are we suggesting he took her to a back alley and shoved her in and told her she cannot come out until it's done??? Against her will??? The dude stayed by her side for freaking 2 weeks feeding her seaweed soup for her recovery, when he didn't even know how to cook. Yeah, yeah, yeah... the clear sign of a horrible misogynist...

NO... it wouldn't have been Onmyoji Arena because the game is SPECIFIC to what the AUTHOR wrote in the NOVEL... not the script, not the adaptation... it wasn't some RANDOM game they were playing in the novel it was specifically THIS game... as I noted in the comment linked below....

"Hi, anybody there?"
"This time it really is goodnight,"
"There are still many questions I would like answers to, but I'm the rabbit that has seen the most stars."

SHE'S BRAVE AND INNOCENT...IT'S HORRIBLE ANYONE WOULD CALL HER A LIAR..."
~~RIDICULOUS!!
