"Old but vigorous" I legit nearly spit out my water. 🤣🤣🤣
After they become a legit couple, the flirting is next level. I've never seen this kind of flirting in a C-Drama ever. lol.

WowShe is certainly not in Zhao Liyings orbit, when it comes to acting. She would have done a far superior job…
In my opinion both are good actresses in their own way. I enjoy watching them both. Neither are wooden and both do the characters they play well.
..BUT..
with regards to YAMG, I beg to differ that Li Ying would have been a better fit. There is absolutely no way, especially at the time this was filmed, or even now, that Li Ying would be able to play Jing Jing, period. 'Legend of Fei' proves that in no small amount. Although I found her portrayal of a teenager, having already been married/divorce and a mom, reasonably acted, the lack of skinship between her and Yibo's character was offputting. They tried to hide this fact by having them feed each other.

There is no way in hell Gu Man, as author and screenwriter, would have been OK with an actress opting to feed Yu Tu as opposed to actually fully kissing him up to 30x in a single drama. Sorry, it's just NOT realistic to say this knowing what you know about how Li Ying approaches skinship in her dramas.

The actors do get a say in how far they will go. Even Reba is conscious of portraying skinship on screen. It was her decision not do a kiss scene with Leo Wu due to their age difference and how it might affect his and her careers, knowing how Cnetz are harsh about these topics. Personally, just like 'Legend of Fei', I think it made the story lack a little for it.

We don't always get the appropriate actors for a drama, for w/e reason. Personally, Leo Wu being too young for a kiss scene was problematic, as is an actor over 30 years old playing a teenager. But we don't always get a say in these sorts of things.

For this drama, it would simply NOT be YAMG without Yang Yang & Reba's performance and embodiment of Yu Tu & Qiao Jing Jing in every fashion. To say otherwise, is to not have watched the drama in its entirety and make assumptions based with a lack of data to support your claims. It's just not based in factual evidence, period. It's just an emotional assessment, for personal reasons, w/e your personal issues surrounding the actors may be. You cannot have YAMG without the ~30 real FULL mouth kisses the 2 leads of YAMG had, period. It wouldn't be the same drama without them. There's no way on God's green earth that Zhao Li Ying, a year and a half after giving birth, and 6 months away from divorcing her husband, would have EVER played this part with all the skinship required, KNOWING the kind of public reaction that would have.... once her divorce was final. Remember that this cast was confirmed October, 2020, and completed by end of December, 2020, and be mindful of the personal circumstances when you making casting assessment.

Personal preference and fan bias has nothing to do with who is right or wrong for any particular drama. Again, I love both actresses and watch BOTH their dramas, and for the most part I enjoy and rate high their stuff. As a matter of fact, up UNTIL YAMG aired, 'Boss & Me' is my all-time fav C-Drama in my life. I STILL rewatch it and love it.

HOWEVER, as of the airing of YAMG, this has now topped 'Boss & Me' and it is now my all-time Fav C-Drama with 'Boss & Me' coming in at the 2nd spot. So, as a drama fan, I'd like to say... let's stop unrealistically hating on certain actors based on our personal preference. You don't like the show, okay... but let's be realistic. Calling Reba's acting in YAMG 'wooden' is just about as realistic as saying, after watching the entire YAMG, Yang Yang cannot emote, is wooden, and can't act as well. Even Cnetz on Douban think better than that... calling out the ANTIS giving the drama rating of 1 without even watching a second of the drama. It's sad that fans have to be like this. Let's support them all, or, as my mom used to tell me, "...if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all..."

In 24 hours, YAMG got 10K new reviews. It's still at 7.0 avg overall, which is a bit sad. However, reading the most recent review comments/discussions, it just makes me so happy.

People saying:
*°:⋆ₓₒThey've now read the novel, and the drama was touching.
*°:⋆ₓₒQJJ being the cornerstone of their relationship.
*°:⋆ₓₒThis is some of the highest quality production.
*°:⋆ₓₒDiscussions about what you would do if you were in Yu Tu's shoes, would you go for your dreams or the million CNY annual salary.
*°:⋆ₓₒStating that MORE dramas should let the novelist be the sole screenwriter, because the result would be perfection like this.
*°:⋆ₓₒTalking about content piracy and not given Tencent it due pay for the quality they're putting out. *°:⋆ₓₒHow Yang Yang is redefining the CURRENT male protagonist.
*°:⋆ₓₒBitching at the group of antis who came onto Douban WITHOUT even watching a second & rating the drama a 1.
*°:⋆ₓₒAsking what pen Yu Tu was using.
*°:⋆ₓₒAsking how much the lead actors made for them to do this drama to such an extent.
*°:⋆ₓₒAsking what scene did you replay the most.
*°:⋆ₓₒComparing this drama to the Korean Drama 'Run On' WHICH, holy shit, blows my mind because if I think about myself, it REALISTICALLY is comparable, except for there were markedly FEWER kiss scenes in the Korean drama, 😂 But in terms of mature, calm, committed, reasonable couple partners, it's actually pretty spot on comparison.
*°:⋆ₓₒYang Yang's red eyes for the 2nd proposal ~ suddenly everyone realizes Yang Yang REALLY *can* act. lol
*°:⋆ₓₒQuestioning why the drama is only rated a "7" at this point.
*°:⋆ₓₒAnalyzing Yu Tu & Jing Jing's love.
*°:⋆ₓₒPaying tribute to the Motherland & her aerospace industry.
*°:⋆ₓₒQuestioning when Yu Tu actually fell in love with Jing Jing.
etc. etc.

Let me point this out again: These are CNetz who are notorious for being harsh. I'm just amazed at how this drama is finally getting its proper recognition.

That scene when she’s at the door sending him off to work is so natural and real. His cheeky comment to her is just so steamy and they did it with ZERO amount of cringe. I just LOVE it! Her reaction to it is equal amounts of real. Who wouldn’t be affected by their man talking like that to them?? WHO?? lol. And she also has ZERO amounts of cringe.

I dare you to come up with even 1 moment you found anything between them especially the romantic scenes, cringy!

I dare you to come up with even 1 scene between them you didn’t find realistic or was poorly acted!!

The way I was actually tearing up during the second proposal because you could see Yu Tu was feeling so vulnerable…
and people STILL saying his acting had no emotions, he can’t physically emote, and is wooden. 🤦‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️

They couldn’t have watched this with both eyes, saying this!! Yang Yang’s acting completely embodied the aura of Yu Tu from the novel. He said he read it 2x, and it showed. He WAS Yu Tu. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🙇‍♀️

Dilraba's future work may not shown till early next year. If you have yet to watch her previous historical drama…
Yeah, in terms of modern dramas, most C-Dramas have a standard template of tropes they check off. So, I agree with suggesting ‘You Are My Hero’ because it most aligns with someone who liked YAMG.

To take YAMG, and Gu Man’s novel writing as a Chinese standard would be wrong. There’s a reason why this is so popular. Besides, her other 3 novel drama adaptations, she was part of the screen writing team. Here she was the lone, sole scriptwriter and it shows. It was actually 100% a perfect adaptation of her novel. That’s hard to come by. If she was part of a team, likely the ex’s would have gotten more screen time and made more trouble. !!

Simply put, this is not a usual type of Chinese Modern Romance Drama. You’re lucky if you get 2-3 kiss scenes after 20+ episodes of waiting, and maybe holding hands once or twice. But you’ll definitely get quite a few awkward hugs where the lower half of the actor’s body is miles apart, and the girl will reject the guy constantly because, you know, what g/f would ever be interested in simply kissing her boyfriend, let alone anything further. Then add the usual day after the couple gets together, they break up for *reasons*, usually not logical ones at that…and if you haven’t gone bald for pulling out all your hair in frustration, you’ve joined the ranks like me who probably watch the stuff anyway, because you’re just addicted to more content. lol.

YAMG is a RARE gem, ngl.

They did. It is so popular on weibo. They kissed 30 times in drama, if 1 kiss can be done by 2 takes, at least…
That’s not fish lips, and open eye kisses either. They’re all valid, legit, real kisses. 😜

From the bts I know they had at least 3 if not 4 takes on their supposed FIRST kiss and the KTV they had 3 because the first time was TOO LONG and everyone was making fun of YangYang! Desert, which were their REAL. 1st kisses, was multiple takes as well. That’s DEFINITELY more than 60x. hahaha. 😚🤤

No wonder when they saw each other after months from finishing filming the drama, during their 1st promotions, they were so demurely shy, especially YangYang. That’s legit like seeing an ex-g/f because in 3 months of production shooting they kissed more than a lot of real couples do. !!! And no wonder it feels like a true and real relationship because how do you kiss someone that often and that well and not feel anything? Even for an actor, that’s got to be hard. 🤭
😏🤫

I wonder if anyone has done the math and confirmed how many full kisses, not cheeks, that this couple actually had put into the drama. Then I wonder how many they had that made the cutting room floor. hahahaha.

Title You Are My Glory Spoiler
I saw an IG post where someone mashed together bts, interview, and promo photoshoots of both HyunBin/SonYeJin from CLOY and YangYang/Reba from YAMG. It was amazing how many various shoots they had of both couples that actually almost perfectly match up with the way the couples react to each other.

The GloryCouple really has a lot of fans pushing for them, ngl. You can't avoid seeing any of it around social media right now. hahaha.

BTS of yesterday's episodes: https://share.api.weibo.cn/share/244622087.html?weibo_id=4671514047159287
LOL. I love all the comments. There are so many that are happy/surprised about the footage they left in the drama, where Yu Tu scares JingJing while watching the iPad. The bts show that it wasn't really an "act" but realistically intentional of YangYang pranking Reba.

I understand why all the commenters are pointing out that specific part of the footage. Because it just really bolsters the idea that these 2 had such great tacit chemistry all the way around. What would normally be considered a "blooper" for others, is included as a show of how "loving" the OTP are with each other. lol.

#13 currently on the Weibo Hot Search:
"Qiao Jingjing was punished for lying" 😂
They're also talking about how Yang Yang had promotional event with Sephora and while they were doing the photo op, one of the cameramen there yelled out, "Yu Tu Ah~!" And he turned and gave them a 3sec stare down and shook his head, "no" with a smirk. lol.

You are 💯 correct. In fact I didn’t mind the gaming at all but the aerospace bit in the middle concerned…
I already said this about the aerospace time because a lot of Reba fans were upset that those episodes focused more solely on Yang Yang's character. I explained that it comes with the novel and all Gu Man's novels have a point and are always focused on character development/maturity and relationship parity.

For those who think that's a big word and don't quite understand my meaning: "Parity = the state or condition of being equal, especially regarding status or pay." Most of her stories revolve around these issues. SO.... We already understood QJJ's dilemma and emotional hurt in all the episodes prior to Yu Tu go either to Xi'an or the desert. We didn't need to see wasted drama footage on her acting and doing cf's while miserable. The focus of the aerospace episodes are to show Yu Tu's emotional growth and the process of him coming to terms with who he loves and his career choices. The PARITY is that, in order for QJJ to have JUSTICE and EQUALITY in the relationship, had nothing to do with money, because Yu Tu could always stop and do something else. We see that in the interactions he has with his ex-g/f. The PARITY comes from the amount of love, consideration, and attention he gives the person he loves. Before, we all know, he was arrogant and selfish. He's anything BUT this with QJJ.

Yes Yes Yes!We hit 2.6 billion now.Not sure if this is accurate because last night their site and app crashed…
Those not paying aren't getting the final episodes. Tencent is definitely racking in the cash for people who are impatient to see the end.

Reba & Yang Yang should get bonuses! =)

I think I could re-watch the entire drama 1,000x and not get bored with it...Also, for those who say that Yang…
The entire scene is from @10:19 ~ 13:20 of Ep. 9.

Yu Tu's process of internalizing his emotions without words is from @11:35 ~ 12:35 of that scene.

I re-watch it many times already and still not bored :))
I think I could re-watch the entire drama 1,000x and not get bored with it...

Also, for those who say that Yang Yang's acting isn't expressive, BS! Not this time. Sorry.. uhm... no...

When you understand the context of the entire drama, and aren't spending all your time pausing rewinding and starting again to catch any dialogue that comes up, and just WATCH you see so MANY little details. So, many sighs, looks, expressions, hand gestures... HELL even the billboard signs SPEAK to you.

This is a fully esthetic masterpiece of drama production! No detail is left out! It's a drama that's meant to be FELT more than just watched. That doesn't come out or come across unless you have two lead actors who say more by say nothing than they do with their dialogue.

Simply put, Yang Yang couldn't be a block of wood and carry this off. NO ACTOR COULD. The fact that it works PROVES he's anything BUT wooden and expressionless.... Just watch him after QJJ leaves him at the restaurant for 1 minute where his professor was eating. I'VE READ THE NOVEL.... Yang Yang expressed EVERYTHING Yu Tu's character is supposed to just like the novel... actually, truth be told, Yang Yang did it better!! Yang Yang and Reba have owned these characters. It's gonna take me a while to see them as something OTHER than Yu Tu and Qiao Jing Jing they did such a dang good job of it. =)
