It is generally never a good idea to air a drama after such a long time as everything will feel outdated.
There are currently quite a few young actresses of Bai Lu’s generation who are victims of hate campaigns. This feels very much like someone is trying to thin out the competition as dramas and roles are getting scarcer.

I am sure they took precautions to not actually hurt the actor. There may be some supports that we cannot see in this scene.
Also, there are stuntmen available on set to handle difficult scenes, so if TJC did the scene himself it was because he knew he could handle it. I think we can trust these actors to know what they are doing.
