Yes, I agree. The plot in the 2nd half of Chasing Jade is unfortunately going downhill. Probably another case of starting to film a drama with a half-finished scrip5 and then letting the intern finish it on the go,
As far as I know the script for DWTT was finished before TJC signed on so we shouldn’t have this problem here.

It was only temporary to deal with some issues.
He has been back to filming since last year, but so far none of the new dramas have been broadcast. The first one to come will probably be Blossoms of Power (expected in June).

Well, no disrespect but the “raw material” for the director to work with is very different. ZLH is a pretty face with limited acting skills, so the director is actually doing him lots of favours to make him look good without having to do much heavy lifting acting wise. In many of the more emotional scenes his face is either partially shaded or turned away from the camera so the appropriate facial expressions are left to the audience’s imagination.
TJC’s acting is on quite another level so I am sure the director will make the most of it by letting him show us all the inner conflict and turmoil that we know from the novel.

Well, it isn’t explicit, but there is plenty of abuse (both mental and physical) as both the ML and SML are of the obsessive kind, each doing anything to “possess” the FL.
If these things are red flags for you, you may steer clear of the novel.
And yes, I agree. I don’t understand why there are so many abuse novels that try to make us believe this is love.

There are a lot of tragic events in the novel and not much sweet romance. I found the novel quite interesting because it gives the reader some idea of the era and the political struggles that went on between the different factions.

I don’t know. I just saw that the melon said she had been “officially announced”, but I don’t know where and who made this announcement. It is, however, a phrasing not used for rumours. Maybe it was made by the production team.

The melon that I saw was from 18/03, so quite recent. The FL was said to be Dai Luwa, apparently she has already been confirmed as the FL.

Currently rumoured male leads are Wang Hongyi and Yan An, but it’s just a rumour and can change again tomorrow. That’s why I didn’t mention it in my initial post.

It’s in preparation. Expected startup is in Q2-2026.
