probably bc of the subs being terrible lol. i doubt it has anything to do with the show itself!
Yes, starting episode 2 the subs are much better. So I guess they really were in a hurry to push out that first episode ready or not. I will miss Auspicious, though 🥲
So far so good. Stop lowballing the rating. It's way too low.
With so few episodes out down-rating this drama really makes no sense. I mean it's ok if someone watches 3 episodes and hates it. In that case simply drop it, but don't be so presumptuous as to give an overall rating something you've barely watched.
I feel like FL family massacre is weak. It should be really dark moment with build up but instead they just fast…
We will probably get more flash-backs of this later. That's how they usually treat these traumatic experiences in C-dramas. And yes, the focus on romance is a bit disappointing, but it is what draws the viewers, so they probably have a lot of romance in the first few episodes to draw people in and then gradually give more time to the political strategies/scheming. At least that's what I hope will happen...
He had to retrieve this flower thingy which is the one remedy that can restore the FL's broken heart meridian.…
No worries, just ask in case of doubt. I'm getting quite good at re-translating the Mango-subs in my head to make sense of it all. It definitely gets a lot easier with more practice 😅
Can anyone tell me why he went to the desert? I couldn't figure it out with the subs
He had to retrieve this flower thingy which is the one remedy that can restore the FL's broken heart meridian. The heart meridian got fatally damaged when she suddenly used her spiritual power (which was restored probably due to his pearl that she "stole") and currently she is only hanging on by the aide of the medallion (called "the last soul", not sure what this is supposed to mean) that he gave her.
Oh geez.... so pasty white... you just keep that shirt on boy!!!
Hahaha, I thought the same thing 😂😂😂😂 That scene reminded me of the bathing scene with DongHua in ELOD. All that whiteness and no contours... 😢
Yah I don’t know why they choose that voice, doesn’t sound right & I don’t understand Chinese lol
I don't know any Chinese (other than the snippets picked up from watching too many C-dramas), so I wouldn't be able to identify any dialect. It's hard to describe the impression the voice had on me, it felt a bit insecure/hesitant and sounded somewhat nasally. The effect was particularly strong in his first scene. It got better once there was a bit more talking.
According to DramaWiki Dilreba is dubbed by Liu Xiao Yu. Of the main cast only Liu YuNing seems to be using his own voice. I'm not a great fan of dubbing especially when the actors have better voices than what they are "given".

Dilreba's voice is horribly squeaky and doesn't fit her character at all. I'm surprised to read that Liu YuNing did his own dubbing because the voice sounds kind of strange, too.
First episode out, so far so good. It's engaging and nicely paced, but why did they give Dilreba such a stupid mickey-mouse-voice again? It really doesn't suit the character! And to all the people complaining about the subs, if you had done your training watching MangoTV dramas you would consider these subs top-notch 🤣🤣🤣
It sucks, truly, they're subbing is so hit and miss, they have Love at Night, a fave of mine and subbing is fine,…
Xianxia and historicals are generally much more difficult to translate than modern day dramas. I've reviewed a fair amount of machine translations for novels that I wanted to read and the formal speech used in these genres is an absolute killer! Also, in xianxia and wuxia there are plenty of colourful terms for objects, skills, poisons, etc. So even with the best translation software (which clearly isn't what Mango are using 😂) it still needs a human to individually translate/correct all the formal speech, titles and other special terms and reverse the translated personal names back to their original form.
I will miss Auspicious, though 🥲
It's nice to see that for once the moron role hasn't been given to the maid (as usual) but to a guy-
