The very first point you made in your original post was that the ML was a red flag in the books. I directly addressed that and gave support to the FL echoing your concerns. So maybe re-read what I wrote but take away your need to assume I said it with an attitude or a dismissive agenda.

Just because someone chooses *not* to have sex at that age does not mean that other people who choose to engage in activity are doing something illicit or wrong. Stop trying to make this a crime or moral failing. Sex is natural. It happens.

And my heart broke for him when he said "Today's Friday" because he is so down bad and doesn't even know it. He must count down the hours until Friday evening and can't wait to get her out of the office so he can finally be alone with her. And I def don't think it's just sexual because he's always trying to hold her hand, cuddle, or do extra stuff that is def outside the framework of a FWB (which he should know) ...

First of all, she is now 24 years old and the show covers 10 years of their relationship. What she is struggling with is having the extra emotions for him and keeping it all a secret, she also struggles with the fact that she can't date him publicly because people will just assume all her career milestones are due to their connection. It's pretty obvious.

Also in case no one has informed you, it is perfectly okay for 21-22 year olds to have flesh based relationships, in fact hundreds of millions of them do it every day. Also, I would like to add, she was not a virgin to being with (and she did not have to be) so acting like he is corrupting her, instead of her actively consenting is not fair to either of the characters.

I disagree with the classification of this being grooming because it takes the FL's agency away. Moreover, the ML is not holding the FL's job over her head because of their relationship, if anything the job is preventing them from being together.

Grooming is a very serious *crime* that unfortunately millions of victims experience every day. Conflating consenting able bodied adults who are obviously emotionally and physically invested with one another with grooming does not help bring awareness to actual victims.

Because adult professionals engaging in consensual adult activity = grooming ?????

Isn't that a matter of perspective tho? I have only read the first chapter of the novel thus far can you tell me how much of the novel is told from Luke's perspective, maybe that might be why some of the development seems more nuanced ?

My bad I thought that this was a discussion thread where people could discuss the characters of the show and the nuances of the plot development and characterization, didn't realize it was only a place for your perspective.

Also the fact that they are at their core very emotional yet insecure about their emotions when it comes to love is what *I* meant about them being the same but I am sure your perspective is vastly more relevant here on this as well.

I think it was the second male lead. He didn't respond when she was asking who sent the flowers.

In the drama. The first bunch of flowers were ordered by his friend. Luke didn't even take the time to pick out the flowers himself. I think the only bunch of flowers he actually bothered to pick out were the ones we see him throw into the trash (that she never got)

I see what you are saying, I felt for both of them during this episode because they are both clearly hurting.

The problem is LN is not doing any of the emotional labor, the first bunch of flowers being ordered by his friend instead of him is the problem, if LN did the order himself he would have made sure they had her name on it (even if it didn't have his) so there would have been no possibility of a mistaken delivery. Also, even though he covered for her with the client he never said one comforting word to her about the situation, he just demanded she fix it and then expected things to go back to normal and I was enraged for her sake at his callousness, its not that she should get special treatment at work, its just he could have said something like: " Mistakes happen and your career path will only grow from here if you continue being as diligent and hardworking as you have been" .

Ultimately, I can totally understand why she wasn't feeling a Friday date given the lack of emotional support throughout that stressful event that saw her being publicly shamed. Also expecting her to give more emotional labor to resolve this after spending the previous few days dealing with the issue, I can see why she wanted to take space and just go hiking with her flatmates.
