I don't know if I should protect myself from this drama or if I should give it a try... I love the theme but the amount of negative reviews tell me I'll be wasting my time with this.
I have watched a lot of 2017 K-dramas.. I've finished 8. I'm currently watching 2 and I've put on-hold/dropped 22! I'm a veteran at this cause I'm planning to watch 2-3 more.
Could be a great watch:
Go Back Couple: rushed ending but good writing and tearjerking.
Live Up To Your name Dr. Heo: Solid drama, nothing spectacular but somehow enjoyable.
Prison Playbook: Slow at first but very addicting later on, greatest strength is the characters and their dynamic, very emotional. Have boring parts you could skip and it's not a drama you should go into expecting the "dark side" of prison because it's light hearted mostly.
Pretty good but not great:
Save Me: Most original plot of this year, very fast paced at the start, unexpectedly harsh/dark. It's one of those that could have been better BUT despite it's flaws, you will enjoy it because it's unique.
Duel: Just watch for the acting lmao. Ep 1 was like someone trying to push a wheelchair with the brakes ON (that's how slow this **** was) but the mystery (mostly the acting) should keep you in place.
Don't make the mistake of watching these:
Hit the Top: Jesus.... take the wheel.
Introverted Boss: GREAT ACTING from the actor but hella annoying plot! Watch if you think you can stand people thinking an introverted person is a serial killer!
My Secret Romance: Trainwreck. Not even cliches could save it. BAD ACTING.
My Only Love Song: Obnoxious, annoying, female character. Plot so ridiculous it will make you cry tears of blood. Hate to spoil it for you but the car is also an actor in that drama. JUST LETTING YOU KNOW!
Man to Man: Park Haejin fall out of my favorite actors list because of this drama.
The Bride of Habaek: If you want to waste your time....
/sighs/ I have been neutral on everything related to this drama because im a fan of Joy but im already tired of…
It's not because it's Joy but because she is an idol lol and don't worry. I don't judge actresses that I've haven't seen act yet. Which is this case, I haven't seen her only drama for me to form any proper opinion.
I feel like they should limit the nomination a drama can be in so one drama won't win 9 awards alone.
I'm honestly disappointed by the fans choice. They should watch more dramas instead of three.
Woo Do Hwan: One of the most hyped up coming actor of 2017 won nothing. His character was the most loved in Save Me.
Yang Se Jong: Was phenomenal in Duel by giving 3 characters their own aura even though they all had the same face.
Kim Nam Gil: pulled off a funny but serious character that was too charming to resist. His character in "Live up to your name Dr.Heo" was my favorite of this year.
They should have gotten an honorable mention at least.
When this drama plagiarism it's own story over and over again... I personally stayed for the villain. He was a much more interesting character to look at than the main leads.
When you thought China were almost on par with Korean dramas but they decided to take a big step back... Seriously, wtf are those rules?
While Korea have some ridiculous censorship like no tattoos, burry knife scenes, smoking (I could have sworn I saw smoking in Just Between Lovers! Maybe it was smoking without smoke... I'm not sure) It's not in a level where they killed creativity. Supernatural is banned? China most famous and loved drama, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, is supernatural. Aren't China superitious or am I missing something?
And I heard the reason why they banned Time travel but sometimes they need to loosen up a bit a realize fiction is just fiction.
The one I understand the most is celebrity children. It's nice that they are against child labor but this could all work out if they pre produced drama or put fixed a schedule that doesn't overwork children. Someone else suggested putting an age limit which could also spare them some trouble.
I can't imagine a drama without a single child... What kind of family drama will they be able to do without kids?
No matter how talented she is a kid is just a kid what's so hard about finding an actress who fits the character…
I totally understand where you are coming from when it comes to child actresses. Yeah, she is an actress but did she have to act in romance with someone way older? She could have chosen "adults" roles that doesn't involve romance if she wanted to expand her business. Like college life, family, detective, horror, historical, etc so many characters that have depth so why romance?
But I don't think I would have a problem with this one. I dislike the ones that are really OBVIOUS that an actress is young and the actor is old. Like Goblin. Sure the actress is legal enough to act in such dramas but I hated her character.
Is it just me or did Yoo Seung Ho acting in the beginning of this drama felt somehow rookish? Like it hard to believe that someone with 18 years of acting under his belt was performing like this. Yet after some time his acting became so natural as if the character was tailored for him?
When you are addicted to a drama and you can't believe you went 2 weeks without watching it...the amount of tolerance I have blows my mind. Should have watched this when it finished airing so I wouldn't have to wait for the one week late subs.
There's just something off about them. I personally can't look away from the fact the Je hyeok knew her since…
He practically raised her which put me off from liking them. I tried to see it differently once they are grown and it helped but their romance still didn't interest me. The fact they are trying to "force" the break up makes me lowkey frustrated with them, And yes, Jiho being a criminal would be interesting... Heck , a story centered around female inmates is a must watch for me.
I never thought I would say this over a grown man but Kaist voice is so cute! When he curse with his lisp, it makes it hard for me to feel intimated lol It just cute.
.....
I'm so mean.
