I'll give him some credit because he actually did look concerned and didn't hesitate to kill. He was definitely raised in the royal family. Seems like he got his lesson from last time but he still have that vile personality (I know she changed him).
I also want to say Qiong Nu really is smart and it shows in the way she picks on fast from when her sister felt off and when she found out it's the lisense was the trap. I can't wait to see her near the ending.

She is so bubbly and affectionate while he is like touch depraved but in a way that he pushes it away rather than embrace it. My favourite dynamic. It's really going to be hard to beat this couple.
I let this show marinate a little bit and it is as sweet as ever. The slow burn between Li Haode and Shen.... It makes the little scenes between them so much sweeter like when he came to rescue her from his grandmother pushing heavy household duties or when she tried to please him to give mercy to the victim. My favourite couple so far.
The amount of criticism this show is getting outside of here is crazy 💀like sometimes it's okay for fictional stories to not be completely flawless with the most perfect romance ever especially considering this time period.

And their banter is funny. Just started it. Wasn't sure how to feel about it during the first 15-20 minutes but story eventually picked up by the end of the episode. Seen two episodes so far and I love LOVE Zhu Yan already. What a cheeky demon. His relationship with the female lead was funny. Had a bit of chemistry with everyone. The way Commander Zhou treats him like shit 😭 it's hilarious because you know Zhu Yan can actually kill everyone if he wanted too. Interesting dynamic and for a show that is so serious, and the cinematography is more darker, muted, dull to give off a certain type of storytelling just to have an unexpected comedy to it took me aback. I'm kinda invested now.
The fact a righteous and strict man like the 4th husband laughed at the prank the 5th sister made and claimed she should have informed him NEXT time so he be more prepared.... CUTE CUFE CUTE CUTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ironically, I can't speak for the 2nd sister but actress Liu Xie Ning doesn't look better here either. She was much more attractive in Story of the Kunning Palace and The Double, the two shows I've seen her in. She still looks good here but I think the director just doesn't want to amplify any of the girls beauty. I'm sure the second sister probably looked better in another drama.

I would suggest to follow Jules_Arders advice. They gave a really great advice to help you dissociate him from his previous role. I understand you. It doesn't help that he looks the exact with that same hair/fashion as The Double so you should watch interviews, tiktoks, clips of him outside of his acting roles and take a big break between the shows so you can fully immerse in dramas in case this happened to you again with different actors or this actor again.
