Funny and well written, with great actors that make you dream, but the finale is so bad that makes you to regret watching it. It is clear that the production was cut abruptly and the director came with a sorry excuse for a finale.
The love triangle is the best I ever seen, with a perfect depiction of a good guy versus bad guy, both charming in their peculiar ways. The lead actress is also a talented star that does not disappoint the fans. But as with most chinese productions, it seems to be deemed to be sub par because of the usual issues that plague them:

1) Productions stopped abruptly (example: I Will Never Let You Go)
2) Horrible endings fixed with messy editing (example: The Legends)
3) Poor acting (almost all cdramas)
4) Forced redubbing with bad lipsynch (almost all cdramas)
5) Lead actors change from season to season (example: Ever Night 2)
6) Insane censorship of scenes and themes (almost all cdramas)

What a pity! They have the talents, but because of those silly production choices china tv industry is a disaster...

MY ID IS GANGNAM BEAUTY is an amazing college drama, one of the best in the difficult task of showing how girls live the hard competition for getting boys attention, and how they use many methods, from innocent lies up to plastic surgery. The theme of lying is explored in all contexts, from politics to divorce, but in the end sincerity, symbolized by perfume, prevails in all of them. A lot of psychology is used in writing this screenplay, and the direction is unprecedented for the detailed reproduction of human emotional engagement, making each emotion to show in every scene in a way that is at the level of the best anime. The cuteness of the romance between the two leads at some point remembered me of anime masterpieces like Kimi Ni Todoke, and that is probably the greatest compliment you can do to a school drama. Awesome.

This is the most perfectly crafted drama ever made. Everything, from the writing to the acting, is absolutely superb. It is not the best drama you can find. It is not particulary original, and it’s neither some heart wrenching drama that throws you under the bus using some cheap tragedy (despite the big theme of deafness, it mantains a very lightweight mood from the beginning to the end). But historically and in terms of crafting it can be considered the pinnacle of the classic korean drama. After this one the drama industry had to renew themself and started going in different directions than the usual poor-family-girl-meet-rich-family-boy trope. Thanks to one of the most skilled korean actress ever, the legendary Hwang Jung Eum, and a cast of the greatest actors of the time, this drama captures the audience hearts and never let them go. Even after the end, you will think about the characters for weeks, and never forget them. This is the work of a screenwriter whith incredible experience and skills, and of a director with a superior sense of pace, mastering the flow of the events without the smallest error.
This is why it can be considered a true “canon”. The word “canon” is derived from the Greek “kanon”, which translates as “rod,” “measuring stick,” or to “rule”, and is defined as “(...) an highly valued work that acts as arbiter of artistic value and that can be regarded as a reference for a genre; a "gold standard" against which all the others should be judged.(..)” This is how amazing this drama is.

This is an awful adaptation of one of the best and most deep xianxia novel ever written, ‘Desolate Era’ by IET.

They ruined it so badly that even subtitlers are refusing to translate it...

Why ruining such masterpiece with a b-movie level production? In term of popularity and ranking ‘Desolate Era‘ is second only to the king of all xianxia novels, ‘I Shall Seal The Heavens’ by Er Gen. Doesn’t make any business sense.

Not only the CG is cheap, the acting is sub-par and the screenplay adaptation is a mess... but the cinematography, one of the best points of the chinese drama industry, is so poor that it looks made by an amateur with no experience in framing and lighting a scene.

Deeply disappointing. I hope in the future someone with better intentions will make a new adaptation from the immortal masterpiece of IET, because this is as useless as it gets.
