I think Feng Jian Yu may just be the cutest, sweetest, funniest, sexiest damn BL actor ever. This show is so goofy, strange and odd but all in a good, hilarious way. It is utterly charming even though it's wildly uneven in writing, direction, acting, you name it. As I said below, when you have great actors with natural charisma and chemistry, you can get away with murder. And they did.
Funniest scene: In the special episode, FJY thrashing around on the bed throwing a tantrum because the BF won't let him top. lol God he is so sexy and cute.
Wow...isn't it amazing how a such a potentially fascinating, sexually hot basic story outline could be made into something this boring and silly? I dropped it after 25 minutes...even the sex was boring. That married couple doing it up against the wall was one of the most ridiculous sex scenes I've had the misfortune to see. And no wonder the husband is fucking around; the wife is a zombie who walks around all day doing nothing except tailing him. This has the feel of an 1980s artsy-fartsy European flick. Most of those are boring too. The urine thing was beyond bizarre. Horrible movie. 1/10. The 1 is for the husband's cute ass.
"Destruction Babies doesn't exist to entertain, it exists to educate, or at least warn, of the transformative effects of violence on a personal and social level. Violence isn't so much of a trait as a disease that can breed within one person and spread to many, many more."
lol, yeah, we totally needed this piece of shit movie to teach us all this insightfully new information about violence. Please, spare me. The violence in this flick springs from a diseased mind, the main thug is clearly mentally ill, though no one seems to think of this as a possibility. No one ever calls the cops, no one ever calls the nut house or hospital, despite the fact that this has been going on for god knows how long? Yes, that is VERY realistic. lol
This crap-fest teaches one thing: that there are investors stupid enough to put their money into almost any kind of garbage film that a fast-talking director cons them into doing. I'm guessing the backers of this...thing felt like morons when they saw what their money had got them.
This movie is for people who get off on bloody, senseless, stupid violence involving stupid people; an audience who enjoy movies that go nowhere and mean nothing, and who think crap like this is edgy. In other words, morons.
God, this is just worthless trash. Some clearly mentally ill thug stumbles around his town/neighborhood day after day instigating random, violent, bloody fights with whoever happens to come along and somehow, this is supposed to be artsy or meaningful or something. yeah, yeah, we see lots of people stand by and do nothing, but would YOU step into a fight with someone who is obviously psycho and for whom pain seems to not register? He just gets up and keeps coming until his body won't work anymore...then he sleeps it off on a pile of garbage and wakes to start all over again. Yeah, right, in what has obviously been a fair amount of time that this moron has been doing this, no one EVER calls the cops? Or the local mental hospital? Or does anything to stop it, even if they're running the other direction while they make the call as I would be doing? Not the least bit believable and finally, after 40 minutes of this when I realized this was going nowhere and that there was no real plot or story, just more of the same stupidity, I dropped it as most sane people will.
The only reason to watch this is if you truly, simply ENJOY repetitious scenes of meandering, random, bloody fist/bat/whatever fights. There is simply no purpose to this despite what its creators might claim. It strikes me as the type of flick where some douche director wants to see how much he can get away with while pulling the wool over his audience's and investors' eyes and laughing his ass off behind their backs. The joke's on them.
The only good thing I'll say about this film is that the fights feel and look to be extremely realistic; they are awkward, stumbling, gracelessly crude, just like real street fights among untrained, non-martial arts fighters really look. No stylized, impossible feats of superhero caliber here, no flying through the air while spinning and cartwheeling, just staggering idiots who sometimes miss, sometimes hit, but always look like the idiots they are.
I've never given a film a 0/10 before. There's a first time for everything.
You should really watch like in the movies if you haven't yet
Why would I keep watching something I find to be inferior and am not enjoying? We all judge EVERY piece of art we ever see and there is nothing wrong with that. I just wrote up above that I like "Gameboys," "Hello Stranger" and several Filipino movies. I like them when I find them likable, just as you do. Finally, I will watch my way and you watch YOUR way, OK? If a piece of art can hold up to some analysation that's cause it's not very good.
Nothing wrong with writing a first impressions review. It does show in the review section how many eps the reviewer…
Nothing you wrote chan.ges what I already stated: It is ENTIRELY appropriate for ANY viewer to review however much of a series or film they fucking want to, regardless of what you may think about it. Are you the Review Police here? If you are so against such reviews...DON'T FUCKING READ THEM. Yes, I added "fucking" both time for extra emphasis since you seem unable to read and comprehend yourself.
God, the asshole know-it-alls on this board who now find it their duty to prescribe when people may and may not write and post reviews. Yours are the comments of an arrogant douche-bag. Not saying you ARE one, of course, that would be rude.
Are you aware that in the entertainment industry, individual episodes of series are REGULARLY reviewed and published before the series is complete? Also if a viewer gets bored or drops a film for any reason at all before its conclusion, they have every right to leave a review stating why they did so. Oh...that's right, you want those views posted in comments. But you forgot something: No one else cares where you think their reviews should be posted.
I wish the viewer who was getting under your skin had continued to post as they like. Bossy-pantses like you need to be annoyed.
It is actually a ten-years later sequel to another wonderful BL film/series called "Kiss: I Didn't Think I Would Fall In Love," which is totally charming.
You should really watch like in the movies if you haven't yet
Yeah, I didn't care for that one either and dropped it two or three episodes in. That ultra-stereotypical fem uncle was very annoying and as usual with a Pinoy BL, rather than SHOW us the story and thereby share the story and message, the piece was full of preachy dialogue apparently pulled from a Pride Day speech. Plus, why would you hesitate to come out in a family where you already have this mega-feminine queen of an uncle flitting aorund and everyone knows what's up with that? Even the private dialogue between the two leads was preachy and DESIGNED TO TEACH US A LESSON.
can I assume jin woo and seol didn't leave the ranch? when mun kyung called seol's name and they went back to…
I don't know if you're right, but that would be my preference too. The mother had ZERO business showing up to take a child she had never known, and it wouldn't be right for Jin Woo to allow her to be traumatically uprooted like that. Whether she calls him Mommy, Daddy or Uncle, he is her primary caregiver, custodian protector and parental figure. The farm, even given all the homophobic assholes who live in the village, is her home.
I very much hope Jin Woo does not reconcile with the poet. What a self-righteous, treacherous and arrogant douche-bag. Pissed me off so bad when he picked the fight in the truck after the restaurant scene near the end and then had the nerve to chastise Jin Woo for his reaction. Whoo! What an asshole.
Gradually, as I watch more and more movies, Asian films in particular, I am learning to let go, relax, breathe and let the movie be whatever it is going to be. I realized I sit in my seat or lay in my bed and I'm pushing, or pulling, emotionally and sometimes physically, for characters to behave in certain ways or take particular actions that I WANT them to take based on my own perspective and prejudices and fears and all the human baggage we carry around with us. For some reason, this film especially made me realize I was doing that.
MILD SPOILERS BELOW:
As it turned out, it's my opinion that the BF/poet is a dick. He did and said a number of things that put him firmly on my turd list. Telling you-know-who, you-know-what without discussing it with his partner. Pushing the sheep guy to feel a certain way he thought he SHOULD feel and not allowing him to experience the frustration and pain at his own pace. Pushing his partner verbally into a confrontation and then having the nerve to chastise the other for being "worked up," a state he wouldn't have been in if he hadn't been baited into it. That especially pissed me off. Being and drama queen and making a silent, secret exit to cause the other pain and get attention for himself. Good riddance to arrogant, codependent trash.
The sister: selfish, presumptuous bitch. Shows up out of nowhere and wants what she wants regardless of being absent the child's entire life. Ummm...NO. I don't know Korean law, but in the U.S., depending on the state, I don't think she'd have a chance in hell of gaining legal custody of that kid. She is NOT her parent, in any legal, moral or ethical sense, and never has been. A judge would rip her a new asshole. If she wanted what was best for her child, she'd ask for regular visits to see her out there for a year or so, then maybe visits to Seoul for the daughter, but what she wants? NO. Fuck her.
The townspeople: utterly predictable. I grew up in a small town, and I know that mentality and attitude borne of ignorance and isolation. Korea is pretty damn homophobic in general, but at least in Seoul there would be pockets/neighborhoods where you can be who you are without abuse.
omg, my beloved Phillippines, what is it about your general inability to produce quality BLs? I had to laugh out loud when I got to the second part of the synopsis where I learned that in this one an asteroid is heading toward the earth and this is the driving force behind the plot. Good god, Phillippines, learn how to make a decent BL about a group of college kids before you attempt a science fiction thriller. lol
Of course I exempt "Game Boys" and Hello Stranger" from my diss of the Filipino BL industry. And there's "Fuccbois," "Antonio's Secret," and a couple other films that are good.
Nothing wrong with writing a first impressions review. It does show in the review section how many eps the reviewer…
Why in the world should someone not feel free to post their review of the first one or two episodes in a series? It is important for a film OR a series to engage the audience and draw them into the world of the film from the very beginning. If a production fails to do that, whatever the cause, viewers are entirely justified in saying so. Or if the opposite is true, they can say how much they love what they see and look forward to more in future episodes.
Why do I suspect if a viewer left a very positive review after one or two episodes you would not be in this comment section screaming about how infuriated you are. I'm just curious as to what your vested interest is in this show...are you on the production team. Do you work in their PR department. Is your mom on the costume design crew? What's the REAL reason you are up in arms about people here freely sharing their opinion? After all, nobody's making you read the reviews.
Wow. I never thought I'd become a crime-thriller enthusiast, but Korea has brought me around. The choreography of the fight scenes absolutley blows my mind every time I see one...I mean the split-second timing and weeks of rehearsals it must take. Just wow. Jung Min also blew my mind. I like that he doesn't really look like a big, bruising, ass-kicker. He's more of a little, scrappy, bruising ass-kicker. Yoo Ah In is great as always. I admire the intensity and total conviction he always brings to his characters. This one felt kind of like an over-the-top insane caricature at times, but I suppose there probably really are people this horrible all over the world in positions of power and money; I'm just naive enough to still find it hard to believe. Little bits of humor here and there were nice. The dialogue is amazing; zingers and insults and threats right and left, one on top of the other and it all sounds entirely real. Asian cinema, after almost 18 months since I discovered it, beginning with gay cinema, continues to astound me. I had NO idea. BRAVO 8.5/10
Eng subs here; https://www.dailymotion.com/video/xrw780This is definitely a slow burn. It's bleak, depressing,…
I don't know if I would have kept watching or not...films in which the camera follows people around through their mundane days are not really my thing. But I have zero tolerance for Dailymotion's increasingly intrusive popup ads. The ones that pop in across the top of the screen drive me crazy. I tried leaving the ad there and ignoring it but then it started changing ads on its own which is distracting. I don't know what advertiser would think this is a good way to give potential customers a positive feeling about your brand. I'd rather not see a movie at all than watch it like that. The entire experience of immersion in the movie is destroyed by those ads.
Ugh. Started out intriguing and kind of funny, then began to get silly, then became ridiculous and stupid. I'm out after 30 minutes. I can't imagine going the entire four hours. Holy god.
You do know there is an actual button for spoilers right?
Oh really? I had no idea. Perhaps you missed the giant "SPOILERS" in all-caps at the top of my comment. If someone who doesn't want to know some details is dumb enough to keep reading after seeing that, I'm not too worried about it. Something this bad, I don't care if I "spoil" as it is already thoroughly rotten. lol
Funniest scene: In the special episode, FJY thrashing around on the bed throwing a tantrum because the BF won't let him top. lol God he is so sexy and cute.
Despite all its flaws, this gets a 9/10 from me.
1/10. The 1 is for the husband's cute ass.

Both take their time telling their story, are quiet and somewhat meditative, like "A Distant Place," and are among my favorite gay-themed films.
