Title Black House
I watched this many years ago without subs and tbh I wasn't even thinking about ever rewatching, but a friend asked me if I have a good streaming link, so I ended up looking for the movie. I found it subbed this time via torrents, so I told myself I might as well watch it since I downloaded it anyway...
And it was a good choice for a rainy summer afternoon. There's something delicate about this movie, even though its subject matter should give you the creeps instead. It resembles a quirky waltz between fantasy and reality, between the cruel world of here and now and the supernatural one of some time somewhere ... Making good use of its appealing cinematography and soundtrack, the movie feels like a dream inside a dream inside a dream... it's a tale about the power of love, fate and freedom.
Jung Kyung Ho is good in his role, but the one stealing the show is Kim Gyu Ri as Pippi. I liked the directing and the whole idea behind this movie.

Title Mirror of the Witch Spoiler
didn't seori die? at the very end she was alive tho.... can someone please explain to me the ending! I'm so confused...
No, she died. But he was also ready to die, that is why he saw her. 40 years later he is already old and tired, they show him wanting to stop from walking because he is exhausted, so that scene actually it was him passing away and getting reunited with her. You see him following that kite that reminds him of her and wandering toward the place where they first met, him turning young again and her waiting for him. He dies and finally goes to her, now that his mission is done: writing the medical book that would help save many lives..

If they didn't extend the drama uselessly, it would have been more balanced pace wise. Unfortunately, with 20 episodes, the story just kept going in circles for most of the middle part. Nothing that can't be solved with a pinch of speed watching magic though LOL (for those who master this art, that is)...
Other than the filler parts, the characters were well written, the cast was wisely chosen, our leads had perfect chemistry, just to spite all those haters that "doomed" the drama long before it even started airing, just because of the age gap between the actors... Yoon Shi Yoon proved that he still "got" it, after taking the long break from acting due to his enlistment and Kim Sae Ron confirmed once again her huge talent (that has nothing to do with her age) and the fact that she is perfectly capable to be the leading lady in a drama. She showed different colors for her character, from melo to comedy and everything in between and her pairing with YSH was def. the right call. Even if the drama got draggy at some point, their story is still nice to follow and they had many cute moments together.
I also loved the villainess and the sidekicks that brought us many smiles (the monk Yo Gwang and Soon Deuk).
All in all, if you get over the filler parts, this is not a bad drama at the end of the day...
